Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Offical Play Dunn as a Forward Thread

We need someone, with the teeny tiniest forward instinct to bust a bum across half forward.

Lynden Dunn, good endurance, OK overhead and dangerous around goals could fit the criteria.

The midfield experiment is over. Send Lyndon home.

Anyone with me?

yeah... would try anything at the moment

He should have been there all season.

exactly. he should've never been moved from the forward line.

from the VFL.

Is he another of your flawless good kickers unfairly held back at Casey?

There is a reason he does not cut in the AFL even when MFC are that bad.

See if you can work out why.....

Yes if this role does not require Dunn to mark above his head or make any body contact then absolutely.

Yes, Dunn...no.

Dunn going to the forward line will solve none of our problems. We need midfielders who get clearances and run hard as a goup to provide options. We also need to collectively put on about a tonne

I like him better as a forward than a midfielder, but our midfield is rubbish at the moment and any forward would struggle. Dunn wants to play in the midfield because he knows if he plays forward he will gone at seasons end.

I was a fan of Dunn, but i think hes finished.

Playing for Casey while Melbourne are on the bottom with one win, shows us where hes at in his career. Hes been here long enough. Seems along time ago when i think Daniher had him tagging and playing well.

Id pick Maric over him now.

I actually think that Dunn should play on the half back line and Rivers should play at full forward. Rivers has only had a few sorties forward and never really been tried as a key forward. He leads well as is a long accurate kick.

Link for 2004 AFL Draft (Dunn 15)

http://www.afl.com.au/portals/0/afl_docs/d..._Draft_2004.pdf

Interesting seeing who was selected where and how they have developed.

Names stand out like Buddy, Roughhead, Griffen, Lewis.

Surprise seeing LeCras at 37 (Good pick)

Also should have we selected pick 44 instead of 43, after reading the player comments make you wonder what they were thinking.

There is no doubt Dunn plays differently for Melbourne than he does with Casey. I think it is more than just the quality of opposition, it seems to me that he stops attacking. When he plays for Casey he takes the game on, for Melbourne he plays 100% defensive. That said, I also think we need to bring in a tagging player and while Bartram performs that role I would prefer to see Dunn as our main tagging player because he can kick, he just needs to learn to play both ways.

Dunn is not good overhead, he's a terrible mark. When he goes up forward he plays as a small forward.

Guys, there's a reason why the footy department has tried to turn him into a tagger

Jarka, The footy department are trying to turn him into a player he simply isn't. He was drafted as a forward so he should be played there. Too many footy clubs especially MFC play players out of position (Petterd, Martin and Dunn).

He needs to play forward all year, If he doesn't work out he has to be put on the trade table. Enough is enough !!!!!!

Steamin, he was drafted to play as a key forward. He continually demonstrates that he is not a key forward, he plays as a small forward, and not a very good one at that. That's why the club tried to turn him into a midfielder. I hope I'm wrong about him, but it doesn't look good.

Out of interest out of those players you mentioned, Petterd, Martin and Dunn, what exactly is their best position?

I agree Jarka.

In my opinion Steamin' is right in a way though. The footy department have tried to turn him in to something he's not: an AFL grade footballer.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
