Since being selected at No. 1 in the pre-season draft in December, Jurrah has been taking Engligh lessons.

It's a shame you didn't, Mark Stevens! :D

What a fantastic story this is, and a lot of credit must be given to Jurrah and the club for managing to fast track the development of someone who has come from so far back.

If he can continue to stay fit both physically and emotionally, and settle in well at the club, there is no doubt he will be a very very special player who will bring in the crowds and help us win games.

Good luck to him!

 Note to Herald Sun professional journalists...Microsoft word spill chuck function is not fool proof.

Otherwise, Go Liam, really looking forward to his debut!

Read the Adelaide Advertiser for the first time in a month or two this morning to see Liam Jurrah staring back at me on some Melbourne beach. Fair chuffed I have to say. One of the few times one doesn't regret picking up that piece of shyte excuse for a 'paper and spending a couple of minutes reading it. Interesting to hear that he is still in the process of learning English, and was playing or training barefoot not a year ago. Talk about raw talent! Can't wait!

Good luck and best wishes Liam. Just remember that, good or bad, tomorrow night is just the first step in what should be a great journey.

Only seen a few clips of him at work but looks good. Never seen so much hipe on this site about a player sice JW, and id say more people are excited about this bloke. Goodluck, and dont get injured (touch wood).

People are excited because there is a very unique story behind a player that also has great potential. Really looking forward to seeing him in the bigtime. The story is only beginning....

Yeah, I think a few of the above posts have touched on it. There is a lot of hype among Melbourne fans, similar to that which there was about Watts, even though Watts is far more well-known. It's because there is a number-one pick every year. A story like Liam Jurrah is once-a-decade.

I read Both articles & am Genuinely excited. Good Luck Liam For a long carreer as a Demon.

Can't wait for all our indigenous players to all be Ripping in the Seniors together...Exciting times ahead.

(and some people here wish to sack the coach before these kids have even played!! I mean really)

Jack Watts & Liam Jurrah up forward for our next game-sweet.

Good luck LJ. You have our attention, you have our excitement and you have our support. We're with you mate, not just tomorrow night, but for the rest of your career. Do the Walpiri mob proud.

This story has cinema potential all over it.

I was actually thinking the same thing, he could become an icon very similiar to Michael Long.

Hmmm maybe wait till he has played his first game before we start talking about movie potential. LJ will have the same impact on a game similar to chris lamb!!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
