is in his "does absolutely nothing" mode, either bite bullet and bring in Watts or Newton again or both

don't care what anyone says we need Robbo down there as well, forward line NON EXISTENT, pathetic

neither of them are our future, get rid of both of them. Time for Watts and let Newton play the rest of the year and lets see if he can do anything with a guarantee of not being dropped

Having spent a fair bit of time on the bench its a good indicator that Miller might have the Scorpions jumper on next week. Will be interesting for Newton Robbo and Watts at Casey.

I am so sick of hearing people talking dibble, about Robertson and Miller not being a part of the future? So frigging what!!!???

What do you suppose we do, bring in Watts who isnt ready to play senior football, and Newton who is just useless.

Dispite what people think and hope for around here, we still have games to win. And Robbo and Miller are part of that formula.

On a side note, Miller was played off the bench all night, and was hardly seen.

Id like to see this forward line

Maric Newton Robbo

Watts Bate Sylvia

Next season I'd be hoping Jurrah and hopefully Butcher could take Newton and Robbos spot.

Chin up RK, its not that bad ;)

if you read what i typed i put a proposal to what we do. Robbo and Miller might be part of the formula now, but in 12 weeks they won't be, so get the formula that is going to take this club somewhere on the park now and let them get used to playing with each other

I not buying this Watts isnt ready crap anymore. He's finished a 10 week training program and Is playing some decent footy at Casey. Yes I realise he has school but so did Morton last year and he played most of the year.

Bailey has stated that he has been selecting players on form, so you would suggest he will continue that.

Millers spot would be under pressure, but who have we got to come in for him ? Realistically.

Hopefully Robbo will fire and come back in the side against the Pies.

Our forward Line is our biggest problem and as far as I can see there is no easy fixes.

Im happy for the club to let Watts force his way in and lets hope Jurrah may do the same at years end.

And in the draft go for another tall forward.

What was the deal with having him on the bench for nearly half a game?

Yeah, I found that interesting. Colbet on the boundary termed this move as Miller being 'out of favour' with Bailey. Miller is another who needs a game back down at Casey. He too is probably playing for his career over the next few months. If Newton slots in to the forwardline, as Watts does, I can't see Miller offering more than either of those two. I would say Miller's fate will be determined by our ladder positioning too, come the end of the season. If we only win four games, finish on the bottom and gain the priority pick, taking someone like Butcher at #2, I can't see there being a spot for Miller, long term. Alright, that's a long way down the track, being only in Round 10, but he's in real trouble.

Sounds good to me. I'd throw Jetta into the mix too. I hope they give him another game soon. Millsy's best output this year has been 3 goals (all kicked in the space of ten minutes, basically off the boot of Jones), if memory serves me correctly. I reckon Newton would be a better bet at the moment.

Miller is in our best side, he just needs the support around him. Idealy our forward line for this year would be.

HF: Sylvia, Miller, Green

FF: Watts, Robertson, Wonna*

Obviously we wont be seeing Wonna for awhile so substitute him with Maric. If Bailey persisted with this forward line for the year we may see a better output from Miller and Robbo with the right support around them. Lets just hope Watts and Robbo play games today for Casey worthy of being promoted for next week.

Get rid of Miller. He has had two stinkers in a row now. They need to experiment with options down there. Bruce, Green and Davey are 3 of our most talented players and have a record of kicking goals in the past they need to "rest" down there and improve our scoring capability, instead of having a "stat party" across half back. I think you have to play Newton, he get shots on goals and looks lively hopefully he can just turn his kicking around in an off season much like Roughhead has done for Hawthorn.

Robbo was probably a bit stiff to be dropped too.

Try Dunn down there too

I don't think Miller needs support around him. I think he needs to be traded and even in another better side I think you will see him getting marks high on the wings, not using the football well, missing shots for goal he should kick.

2010 Forward Line

H.F. Bate Watts Sylvia

F. Woenamarri Butcher Maric

I also prefer Stephen Martin as a backman

I think we will have to trade one of our keybacks in Warnock, Martin, Rivers as Frawley and Garland can easily fill the 3rd tall defender spot too. And 5 does not go into 4.

Maybe Hawthorn would do a straight swap for Mitch Thorpe given their defensive personel woes.

He may be handy option as a forward. God knows he has been starved of opportunities down there

Thorp's body is apparently rooted.

Miller is a honest footballer who will unfortunately still be on the list next year through no other reason than a lack of personal. We can't just throw Watts to the cleaners straight away. I know Miller is a spud but at least he'll take the likes of Scarlett, Glass and co untill Wattsy is right.

According to the paper he played 80% of game time.

I not buying this Watts isnt ready crap anymore. He's finished a 10 week training program and Is playing some decent footy at Casey. Yes I realise he has school but so did Morton last year and he played most of the year.

No he didn't. Maybe you're thinking of Maric, who played about 4 games because he had to couple footy with school?

Watts isn't ready. He isn't playing decent footy at Casey yet. He's had one good game, the rest he's been struggling. I don't want him to be thrust into AFL level with a heap of expectation on his shoulders if he isn't gaining confidence from his footy at VFL level.

For those of you who play Supercoach this will mean a lot.

Im a big believer that champion data rankings are a good reflection of a players performance as it includes disposal efficiency and contested/uncontested marks and kicks. These are millers rankings this year:

21,69,24,132,0,50,89,44,42

Scores of less than 50 generally put you in the bottom 20% of players on the field and he has 6 games with a ranking of 50 or less (including a 0!) and only 1 game of more than 90. This says a lot about his lack of worth to the team and i have never known a player who has gained such a false reputation on the basis of 1 or 2 good games a year.

Posted

He looked awful and should make way for Robbo if he plays well, but...

I hate putting lines through forwards when they only get 33 Inside 50s to score goals from.

Bate is becoming more consistent after a down month and now Miller might need some faith.

But there might be benefit in playing at Casey and taking some marks, and kicking some goals.

Posted

Miller is a nipple. Should never play a game for Melbourne again. He is a pathetic brain dead footballer that plays a couple good games a year not good enough. We should start looking at alternatives cause Miller is not and has never been the answer.

Posted

So what do you think bailey is going to do with miller, i very much doubt he will be delisted.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
