With Watts still a good lot of games away who will be the next first gamer??

Was trying to think who it might be..

Jack Watts not far away ... hope he is as good as we are made to believe...we need something to get another win.

Watts should hopefully be making his debut in round 14. Strauss is the only one I'd imagine who could beat him after his 36 poss with Casey 2nd's. If Strauss can get 30 poss plus two or three weeks running for Casey 1st's he might beat Watts to it. But I doubt it.

We have had four players debut this year, Jetta, Bennell, Spencer, Cheney hopefully by the end of the year we can see Watts(definate), Strauss, Bail and Jurrah, I don't think we wil see anymore rookies this year. IMO Strauss and Bail will get a taste be it 1-3 games and if he can stay fit Jurrah might be a chance for 1 game. Watts will be the next though.

I reckon that if T.Mac and Hughes can maintain / improve their recent form for Casey, they will be given a few senior games for sure. The Football Dept. will want to have a look at what they can do at the top level ....... some really tough decisions need to be made at seasons end.

McNamara, Watts, Hughes is my order...

Danny Hughes wouldn't be far away from senior selection, and will be given games this season I think... Looks good for casey, and with rookies eligible to play AFL in the 2nd half of the season, without a spot being vacated on the list, I think we'll see him playing some matches...

Another poll which fails to give all possible options ?

Before the season started i have always maintained that Rohan Bail is the most likley to get a game

So where is he on the Poll ?

Yeah, I agree, Tommy Mac would have to be given an opportunity first up.

He's been in the system longer and shown some fairly consistent good form over the last few weeks.

After that I'd actually pick Jimmy Strauss to get a run before Watts. I think he'll develop into the role a bit quicker than Jack and he won't quite have to compete with the bigger harder bodies like Jack will.

His form to get in the senior side won't depend on other players as much as Jack's will (provided he stays deep in the forward line)

Being about a year more mature physically and not still at high school will also be in his favour.

I went with McNamara. His form has been pretty good in recent weeks despite his limited pre-season, and being 2nd year, he is probably more likely to get a run than Watts or any other youngsters. In terms of physical development, his body looks to be coming along nicely, and his size, strong marking and versatility are aspects which could prove immediately useful at AFL level. I'd say Hughes would be next in line, with the rookie availability rule in place during the 2nd half of the year and with his spot on the list under scrutiny, with then Watts and Strauss next to make their debuts, although much later in the season (Round 18-22 tank matches).

Although i'm extremely excited about seeing Watts in red and blue, i've no problem with the approach being taken by Bailey with regards to his development. Physically he's not ready, and with the huge expectations we've placed on his shoulders, i think it might be beneficial to leave him be until he really is ready to take the game on. That said, i do expect him to debut some time later this year, although to not become a regular in the side until at least next year or, more likely, the year after (2011).

aarrgghh sorry!!!

I knew i would forget someone!!!! This is also after saying a few weeks ago at casey saying he should be a good chance to play seniors soon!!!

I also left out blease because he won't play this year! Also there is an extra player on the LTI so any rookie can be promoted

I've added Bail. Tempted to also add a Trent Zomer option too just for laughs. :)

I've voted for McNamara, because I think from a list management perspective, it would make the most sense for him to play soon.

i voted watts, only because it wouldn't surprise me to see him named any week.

that being said, i think mcnamara is most deserving of the spot. and given this is his second year at the club is probably ready t at least get a glimpse so we can see how he goes. the reason i didn't pick him however, is that we have a pretty chockers backline and it may be hard for him to get a game.

McNamara's been playing both back and forward at Casey. He could be played in the forward line if he did debut. Bailey's been talking about getting players to be flexible enough to be able to play in more than one position: I'd think McNamara fits that mould, and should be looked at over the next few weeks.

I thought the same initially, until I heard 'Chip' had been seen at a gathering, having pulled up a little 'ginger' with regard to his ankle. He might still come up for this week. But if they want to take a team - all 100% ready to go..... so I voted T Mac. ;) Just a hunch...

yeah i was thinking of a half-forward type debut since the back is pretty set and also has extra options.

could see him play the J. Hird type possy.. be nice if he turns out half as good! ;)

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
