Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I have a deep man love for Colin Sylvia. My picture, my players.

Can't argue with that.

Ahh the hoopla and frivolity in this thread is something to behold......

And encourage. How long has it been since you felt positive vibes like this? And I mean unaffected positive vibes. Not: Morton is good but can't kick. McLean is great but slow. etc etc

If things go the way we all hope 'ology will vanish, due to a lack of topics to [censored] about like old grandmas.

Whoa Dan back it up a bit.....

I said the frivolity was something to behold not bemoan.

Geez  !!!

Excuse my ingorance on the swine flu topic but it has been reported on Demonology that Brighton Grammar has been closed due to 2 positive cases of Swine Flu..... the poster is uncertain if it was the senior or junior school.

When closing the schools in victoria have they been putting ALL students into quarantine?

I doubt it but stranger things have happened.

He has a career in front of him as an AFL footballer, at the end of that know one will care about his VCE. If he wants to study engineering or medicine, or arts at melbourne, while playing afl, his enter score might count. otherwise it doesn't mean jack. And if he is that keen to get in somewhere, he is earning 60k a year, to be 200k a year within 4 years and will have problems bypassing enter scores by going to a full fee paying position.

That's a very short-term look on life. Of course we all here hope and pray for a 15 year magical career, and god forbid it should be anything but, but Jack needs to consider what happens if it doesn't work out.

And what did you mean by that last bit? Are you saying that, if he screws up his VCE, he could just waltz into a full-fee paying position because he'll be able to afford it? You still need a decent ENTER to make a full-fee paying spot.

Absolutely ridiculous thing to say. VCE is important, whether you want to go to Uni or not. If you have that mentality, it says a lot about your character imo. Nothing is better than a good education. I don't care what anyone here says. To assume you're going to be earning 200k within 4 years is the biggest mistake an athlete could make. He has no idea what could happen between now and then. The good thing about Uni is that you can essentially do it for as long as you want. Plenty of players juggle full-time AFL with part-time studies and eventually get their degrees after 4 or 5 years. I have no doubt that each club encourages players to have a university degree or TAFE diploma as a back up.

Agree with you on this one.

those who think a high year 12 score is the be all and end all clearly have no idea how society works, or know they won't get it and are jealous, or know they will get it and think they are elite. or parents who don't understand. doing your best is more important than etting a high score.

There's a difference between being the be all and end all and being important. As a figure, the enter score will mean nothing once he's started uni. But as a means of attaining self-confidence and satisfaction with oneself, the enter score has much more meaning.

Besides which, not caring about your studies shows a lack of forethought and a lack of maturity.

Craigieburn Primary just quarantined the one year level affected.

Exams of VCE will not be affected.

Yr 12 is important, but not the be all and end all. If you're intelligent enough to continue studying, you should focus on that. Giving up an education just so you could take up the chance to be a successful athlete, which is never assured, is ridiculous. He's smart and dedicated enough when it comes to school, so he should be able to study what he wants to study and as dedicated as he wants to. He realises that he might not be earning 300k in 4 years and if he doesn't have an education in a particular field, he'll have to be a labourer (NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT!!). Believe it or not, but not every male on the planet wants to be a brick layer or an electrician. Some men just aren't interested in that. He wants an education so that at least when he finishes football, if he doesn't have investments or if he hasn't made it, he can go into a profession he always wanted to go into.

Year 12 is over-rated you can get into uni without a good VCE result and not being a full fee paying student, go to TAFE for a couple of years - which gets credited to your UNI degree and you miss out on HECS. WHO gives a flyiiiiiiiingg F@cK about his VCE results he is an AFL player and will earn in excess of 80 to 100,000 this year, next year and the year after that at a minimum. He doesn't give a flying toss about his accounting exam! and neither do we! LOL

correct lol. I dont know how he will be able to concentrate anyway, Imagen at 18 playing in front of 70 odd thoudsand and being on a massive high, then go home, revise for a test, TRY get to sleep early and then put all your focus on an exam the next day. Bloody hell GOOD LUCK CAUSE YOU WILL NEED IT.

Dont no if any one else herd this but on SEN this morning roughly 8am they were talking to eddy 4chins, he said that its been confirmed that 2 people from Brighton grammar have swine flu and that jack has to get quarantined because he may have been in contact with those poeple.

Also he stated that they collingwood will go out there and play jack as normal no targeting or roughening him up or such.....

Or if you pay up front you get into courses with a lower score.

Aren't domestic full-fee places being abolished?

He wants an education so that at least when he finishes football, if he doesn't have investments or if he hasn't made it, he can go into a profession he always wanted to go into.

I'm sure he'll pass VCE and achieving an average ENTER score is little barrier to tertiary entry - it can just make it more of a process.

Given that even if Watts did not make it in AFL footy he'd be in the system for a few years, and thus be eligible for mature-age entry into uni, his ENTER score is probably largely irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

That's a very short-term look on life. Of course we all here hope and pray for a 15 year magical career, and god forbid it should be anything but, but Jack needs to consider what happens if it doesn't work out.

Taking a couple of Open Uni units - which he could do while playing footy - and getting a decent average will give you access to most courses, and there are a variety of other alternative pathways (ie. STAT tests, TAFE pathways, etc.).

That said, whether he's playing senior footy or at Casey he's still going to be playing matches on the weekends and training during the week so there's probably not a huge difference in terms of time (apart from the extra hype associated with his debut).

Well I didn't hear the Eddie interview but it's true that 2 boys from Brighton Grammar have swine flu. However the school (and the MFC) have said that he, in all likeliness, did not come into contact with the two and so he shouldn't be in any danger.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
