So how does Jurrah want it more???? I have watch Jurrah play two games and he is far from demonstrative and I have not noticed any MFC tattoo's ffs.

Jurrah is new, we have invested too much time on Newton, i know him and know plenty of people who knwo him and make the same comment. As for the tattoo comment, thats bright. Newton is useless

BWAHAHAHAHAHHAA

Juice Newton take a bow.

Jake King (all 3 foot of him) pushes Juice, Juice falls over playing for a free kick.

Angry he didn't get a free, Juice gets up and goes and grabs little Jake King, starting a massive brawl with everyone in.

LMAO. Thanks Juice. Always good value.

What will he become?????

Awesome? ;)

He did get really tired in the last, which is understandable given he hasn't played a full game at any sort of really intense environment in about 8 months. Needs plenty more games to get the fitness into him. Playing on the wing as well, he got tired because he was running from one contest to the next.

Great user of the ball, oozes class and very very intelligent. Probably won't play permanent CHF (too good to rot in the square) until he puts on another 5-6kgs.

When did I comment about his own ground performance you absolute dolt.

Newton got BOG because of the 5 goals that he kicked. Which in no way were truly representative of his performance.

Agreed. Didn't think he was a dominant player but 5 goals is 5 goals. Should've kicked 7. No matter how easy the goal is, Newton never better then 50/50.

I wrote Juice off last week. To my mind he is mentally not up to it. However he played a good game today and if he can string some more together for Casey maybe he can turn the corner. Maybe he is the type of player that if played as the number 3 or 4 key forward he could be ok. He will put on weight as he gets older and with Watts and maybe a player like Butcher in the forward line he could be of value. He will need to improve his accuracy if he is to be an AFL forward.

Well done to Juice today. Good effort after being dropped back to the VFL. Five goals and one brawl.

But did anybody see anything in his performance today that has them second guessing his demotion this week?

He is a good VFL player. He's comfortable with the pace of the game at that level. But I don't think we'll be seeing him back in the AFL anytime soon.

interesting to see newton kick some goals this week at afl level.

In 2006 (his first season at the club), he kicked bags in the reserves (12s, 8s and 7s) but only kicked goals in 3 of 11 games with the seniors.

In 2007, he played 11 games for sandy seniors and kicked 5 or 6 three times, and 3 a couple of other times. He then got promoted to the AFL where he played the next 10 games kicking more than 2 goals only once.

In 2008, was in and out of the mfc side for the first couple of weeks before getting injured. He missed a couple of games, got back into sandy, missed a couple more, then got back into sandy where he kicked a couple of goals in each game. One week he kicked 4 goals and was promoted to the AFL the next week. After a few weeks he has dropped back to sandy and was in and out for the rest of the year. He only once kicked more than 2 goals in a match (4) for sandy seniors from 8 matches, while he kicked 4 in one of his two matches in the ressies when coming back from injury the second time.

This season he has played two games in the afl (i'm pretty sure he didnt play at casey against sandy in round 1), misisng most of his shots at goal before going back to casey where he has kicked 5.

First time he has kicked 5 since 2007. He dominated at VFL ressies when he had long run at that grade. He has shown bits at vfl level without ever being allowed to dominate or even simply perform well over a long period of time before being promoted on the back of 1 good game. Perhaps he needs to be able to find consistent form at that level before being asked to step u again.

It will be interesting to see if he is rushed straight back or told he needs to kick 3-5 goals for 2-3 weeks in a row to get a promotion. I wonder how important kicking goals is to the mfc or if they are more interested in other performance indicators like pressure/tackling and leading.

No.

And your last line sums him up.

I think given the MFC forward problems he will be given further opportunities if his performance warrants it.

gove credit today, did well. he still shits himself before goal u can see it in his face. Some terrible misses clearly not an AFL player. Attitude still concerns me. Anyone hear them paying him out on the radio today? They really dislike him hey

THe game was about 10 minutes in when I got there and Casey had 0.1 on the board. He missed two set shots in the third which were sodas but not by a lot. Other than that I can't recall any great horrors. Can someone enlighten me.

He's an enigma poor old Juice. I like him cause he can take a grab and he does straighten Melbourne up when he does play but can't see any long term future for him at Melbourne, especially with Watts and Jurrah coming through and the likely recruitment of Butcher. Might be one of those players that stays on the list as back up for a few more years before being delisted and playing out at VFL level or maybe even being the first FF for West Sydney?? hehe.

Ox that is where i have noticed an improvement in his game his second efforts and tackling, i can see the haters of newton laughing at me and its amazing when the ball comes in through the middle and you have other tall options to help you out aslo he did have more than one player on him worth a shot in the ones alongside robbo for now

I hope Newton can rebuild his goal-kicking confidence at VFL level and then replicate that in the AFL.

I'm sure he'll be given further opportunities for Melbourne this year and if he'd dobbed the easy shorts in the past few weeks most would be reasonably happy with his return.

Since Watts is a #1 pick I can understand you thinking he's bankable, but Jurrah and an as yet undrafted player? Plenty of room for error there!

Haha - wish I saw that.

I did hear that there was a big brawl.

After a best on ground performance with 5 goals, surely the juice would get his spot back for melbourne. Especially when we only managed 10 goals on sunday. Somehow i think he will miss out, purely because he is the juice.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
