So to sum it all up 80% think he should go or that he isnt doing enough, The question that bothers me is who do we have that can fit his spot immediatly? not i a few years? i wouldnt hesitate to dump him if we could get a pavlich or someone with his ability but every player that comes through melb seem to be in his mold with a similar mindset.. (bate being an exception)

So is it actually Juices, dunn, miller, johnson(when he plays forward), Morton, pettard that are at fault or the forward coaches for not either explaining things right or getting the kids to concentrate?

One person that really highlights this albeit at a different club is Medhurst at collingwood. at freo he was lazy, disinterested, only there for the high flyers and selfish. New coaches and teammates that wont tollerate that and now look at him... and who did collingwood dump? tarrant their star forward..

SO is it cultural, the player or a lack of understanding and communication between the coaches and a very young team?

I do not agree that Newton's problems are easy to fix.

No-one said "easy". But I'd rather try to change Newton's attitude than improve Godfrey's skills.

He was great today.

Had at least 7 shots on goal, 2.4 and one out on the full.

He may have had another shot that fell short, so that would be 8 shots on goal.

He took a couple of great marks, and most importantly contested a few others that broke open a pack and we got at least one goal from (Jetta on the goal line.)

I thought he pressured well.

A good step forward for Juice today.

One word: "consistency"

Until he finds that he'll still be an unfulfilled 'talent'

Unfortunately for any forward on our list over the past 3 years we only go inside 50m about 37 times and the delivery inside 50 has been a absolute disgrace. OK he looks to be lazy and maybe he is but our midfield hasn't helped any key forward star over the past 3 years.

If you really have any Grgic Highlights it is your duty to you tube them. watching him kick directly to opposition players is a past time that all generations should be able to enjoy.

It makes you appreciate what we have now!

He did Have one True Highlight. That "Freak" Goal he kicked during the 2000 Prelim Final. The look on his Face is priceless. For all Grgic's faults he has achieved that moment.

I would love to kick a goal in september during a final

But yeah Good swap for Moloney.

I'd find it extraordinary if a person drafted as a key forward had marking deficiences in courage. If true, it is a slur on our drafting researchers.

I don't believe the assertion, even though I'm not convinced about Newtons overall abilities to make the grade.

I'm not sure that proposing a flawed kid with Key Forward potential at spot 43 is anything for the drafting researchers to be ashamed of.

I tend to think that Newton displays deficiencies in both the courage and commitment departments. Most people here seem to agree with the latter, the former is more controversial.

I was standing with my Brother in our usual spot on the steps in the MCC when simultaneously we looked at each other. It was just after Newton made no attempt to make Morton's kick to him 'work'. He needed to back up slightly rather than have the ball sail over his head. He was too concerned about what might be coming behind.

He probably will have a blinder tomorrow!! Look how we turned Col around (or at least half round)

That would be "Bubba".

I am almost certain that you are reffering to the same passage of play that I mentioned earlier, seems I'm not alone on this one after all.

I said after the first quatre against Richmond that he was terrible yet anyone who would listen that I knew said he was a good target in the 50

Today was the worst single performance I have seen anyone do in our shirt after 10 odd Melbourne supporting years and the worst in the AFL since Leon 'magic' Davis' 0 possesion grand final back when the Lions were like Geelong.

Can't he kick a goal from 5 metres?! He even tried to banana the second one because he knew he couldn't kick straight! Personally I was on the floor laughing at the sheer incompetence of our FF.

A 50 year old Daid Neitz or even Jack Watts would have kicked better!!

I'm not blaming Juice for the loss today. We stuffed up big time in a number of departments eg we were badly coached, we overdid the handball and we played [censored] football. But I do blame the selectors for picking him. If Robbo plays today, we win. If Robbo & Maric both play, we win well.

Michael Newton needs to be punched at the back of the head...when his back is turned. i don't care if it's unmanly to punch someone when their back is turned. but he deserves to be king hit without suspecting it beforehand.

HAHAHA

Please Dean, make it go far far away. I beg of you, have we not suffered enough! :(

I find it hilarious this kid os copping a pasting for his kicking, when you all sit in silence as the highest paid player on our list loses us games week after week with his pathetic disposal.

The people of Demonland have no idea at all.

You compare Morton to James Hird in your sign off - don't talk about kicking skills when you compare Cale to the worst kick in our side.

That banana shot from 5 m out was one of the most disgraceful decisions I have ever seen a footballer make. Pathetic and embarrassing

They were even talking about Newton's attitude on SEN today - lack of passion, lack of commitment - they can see it, we can see it why can't bails. DROP HIM

Agree Bruce is not playing to his potential, but name several senior players in the melbourne team that are? At least he has a crack unlike the Sylvia's and Newtons of the team. We'll never win a game unless players like Mclean and Jones are able to make split second decisions. Every week without fail one of the wo get done for holding the ball. One of the only few positives to come out of the game was Ricky Pettards move down to half back finally free'd up our midfield and gave a bit of run. Why Bailey isn't utilizing him more is beyond me.

He is one banana short of a monkey.

Seriously, what the hell was he attempting to prove? Second week in a row he's gone for the unsuccessful banana kick strategy. Just kick it straight or [censored] off. It reeks of arrogance, laziness and a lack of caring.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
