Membership Growing

In a few years time when we are sitting atop with 8 zip next to our name, our membership tally will be way above 45,000. That is a really poor figure for the Saints considering the way they are going.

I would've thought the Saints might have more than 31k at this stage, given they're 8-0, but if they keep going as well as they are, they could easily get a few more thousand before the cut-off date.

If we could crack the 40,000 members mark in a few years that would almost be beyond belief, especially given our membership numbers just a few seasons ago. I hope we can do it, anythings possible i suppose!

we aim to please ;) !!!

Speak for yourself, I'm here for the free booze  <_<

We're creeping up very slowly now, which is to be expected.

Doesn't the Footy Show have one final big membership drive for all teams? Do they still do that, and if so, when does that happen?

....

The AFL should investigate how many of those Richmond members still have their membership ticket in one piece and in their possession. I reckon its 50% no more.

nearly 31!!

This is unbelievable. People just keep buying them. 31k would have to be a big line to cross this year. Just shows what a solid month of footy can do. Imagine what will happen if we string a few wins together early next year?

Updates: -

1/ Hawks have surpassed 52,000 in a canter

2/ Geelong have moved into the top 8, until such time we can get confirmation of Fremantle's membership tally.

3/ The likes of Collingwood and Carlton have crept up a couple of hundred each. Suspect Bumbers have increased since their 40,000 announcement.

4/ St.kilda haven't updated since last week, we've trimmed the margin back at the Dees ;) - Perhaps a win over the Saints could help us knock them off!

5/ Roos have jumped the Dogs again until the next update from the Kennel.

6/ Port Adel went backwards for some reason. they're department must of mis-calculated. (from 29K+ back to 28,333)?

7/ No word from Swans

8. Lions had a small increase.

Next update will be after the QB weekend.

Gee, the Bulldogs really are struggling to drum up support, given that they're 3rd on the ladder. Poor them, they deserve it.

If Hawthorn's season continues on the way it's been going so far, their membership figure for 2010 could be 10,000 down on this year (at least).

Agree on this. The question mark on Hawthorns 2009 membership total is its sustainability. I can't see them repeating the figure next season without another good result this year. Just looking around the crowd the other week when we played them, I wasn't surprised to see many Hawks supporters wearing no Hawks gear except for their new 2009 membership scarves. I read that the number of Hawks supporters who either signed up for the first time or renewed their membership again after lapsing for a few seasons, was around 14,000. So yeah, sustainability is the question mark.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full
