Am happy to wait a few more weeks before I start making that sort of call.

Very bad luck for Jamar, possibly very good luck for Spencer. Or a real opportunity for Meesen this weekend.

The way i see it, Spencers a lock for round 1. I see Meesen competing for PJ's spot as that second ruck who's more of a runner.

We need a big strong aggressive ruckmen to play.

The reality is youd be hard pushed to see any of Meesen's shining star on a moonless night !!

Jamar has worked hard to aspire to being a very average ruckmen with limited side courses !!

Yep..we really need this calibre in our line up going to '10 !!

Barring injury, I have no doubt that PJ will play. Notwithstanding a couple of good NAB Cup/Challenge games, I don't think he's in any danger of being replaced by a Spencer/Meesen combination.

What that means with regard to Spencer and Meesen may very heavily depend on what happens this weekend against a pretty much full-strength top 4 side.

I can see Spencer assuming the #1 ruck this year and PJ playing a more of a ruck come follower ( as it were ) role. There is far more flexability with PJ compared to Meesen or Jamar; many more aspects to his game that can be called upon in a game.

were actually starting to look a bit like a footy team :) TGFT !! lol

That would make sense for most other posters, but I don't see Rhino as your typical forum geek with the associated 'speak'.

How does one source the sauce and effect an affect without adversely causing many to be averse to the result.

We often err only to have others air aloud to what is allowed. Some place content upon the alter whilst others are content to alter to suit. I'll happily allude to an illusion if only to ellude an allusion.

So I assure you I will endeavour to ensure that I make right my words as I write to insure its based in fact to complement before being baste before all in lieu of compliment !!

Write as you will !! :) Its not the end of the world !! ;)

I have picked up two internet "words" in the years on here.....

sauce = source

loose = lose.

Are there any more? :o B)

Agree.

ATM, whatever limitations PJ has, PJ beats Meesen pants down in the ruck and definitely around the ground.

True. Especially when yours is riddled with errors too!

I just found it ironic to point out someone else's spelling error with one of your own.

Not sure I agree with this one. Its not 'internet speak', merely a typo, laziness or ignorance.

Didn't know about the 'sauce' though, so my apologies.

Agree.

This I most definitely agree with.

From what I’ve seen so far this year in the practice matches, Spencer will be an asset we did not expect especially at this early stage. A quote I made on 28th Feb after the Sydney game, “Spencer will be a player of the future. At the moment he needs a better footy brain. He had 2 kicks smothered from marks and some disposals went way ward or put players under pressure, but IF Jamar can improve we could get back to the days of the Twin Towers, Stynes and O’dwyer. This is a big if, but the way Paul Johnson is going there is a back up. Unfortunately Meesen, whilst in the first half didn’t get much time, he just didn’t look interested. For a guy that is being overrun by younger guys I would have thought he would have wanted to really impress.

I have a small felling that we will do far better than most expect, don’t forget, Watts and Bleese and a few others are yet to make appearances.

I agree..Spencer seems to be coming on a little quicker than many would have expected this year. a big plus..I too thought back to Stynesy and Strawbs !!

I also consur a few surpises ( pleasant ) are yet in store for us as the year unfolds.

Be a foolish team that takes us too lightly this year :)..a bonus for us :)

AWESOME. The footy gods are finally listening to me. What a great week. We finally have a sponsor (sort of). Spencer is now on our list and that clown Sylvia has lost the plot again fingers crossed that he won't be in the side RND 1 he definately doesn't deserve a spot the sooner he gets the ass the better.

Well we do have a sponser, sylvia hasnt lost the plot and teh sooner we get sylvia out there to show his capability the better.

If someone could have put Sylvia on the long term injury list while he was out after hours. We might have been able to elevate Valentie aswell. A lot more deserving than Sylvia!

Spencer and Valenti IN.

Jamar and Sylvia OUT.

I meant major sponsor we still need another one. So they suspended him for nothing did they people have been saying that he will show something for the last 5 years but he hasn't and his attitude seems to get worse and worse we are better off without him I would rather see Jetta or even Newton get a game ahead of him with the exception of Meeson I would rather see anyone get a game ahead of him.

"However, Notman did confirm that ruckman Mark Jamar had been placed on the long-term injury list while he battles to overcome a stress fracture in his foot.

His place on the main list has been taken by Jake Spencer who has impressed in the pre-season and is in the mix for a round-one ruck berth.

Jamar was placed on the long-term injury on Thursday last week and must remain on that list for a minimum of eight weeks. It means the earliest 2009 match he can play is in round seven."

RIP Meeson :o

Great news for Jake, not so for John.

And all round good news for the club as it will probably make Jamar even hungrier when he gets back, if Jake performs in his absence and it should keep PJ honest too.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
