Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Really enjoying the Jokovic vs Federer battle tonight, especially when Channel 7 zooms in on Boom Boom Becker's reactions in the coaches box, as they do after every rally. Meant to add that nothing changes.

Roger fought hard but the joker too good

Hoping Murray gets through as I reckon that match-up with Novak could produce a classic final.

Kerber wins the first set! Finally a girl with a decent serve and ground strokes that can keep Serena in rallies and not get totally overwhelmed. Get Serena into rallies often enough and you will win. Now what is likely to happen now is Serena will try to get more intimidating and hope the newby cracks. Because Serena, great as she is, seems to be always playing someone who has never been to a Slam final, it is a huge advantage to have.

Well that was some match, as good as I have seen in women's tennis. Great win by a girl who was not overwhelmed by the Williams circus and power game. Great effort

She's a BE-auty,,,, I willed & willed her to win last night.  Ans she does remind me of Stephi Graph in her play.  maybe not as good but similar.

what a refreshing change from IMO the spoilt Serena.

Go _ Kerba.

Hmmm men's final could be over very quickly at this rate. Murray doesn't look right.

Here's that Four Corners exposé on corruption in sport (shown earlier tonight)

Tennis was a large focus of the investigative report with the sport having alleged links to illegal betting agencies throughout Asia.

Well worth a look.

IMO Kyrios is a kid who had Tomic as a peer model for last few years.  outspoken brash is nothing wrong, as its him..... but under pressure it can leave him sounding like a pratt.  I just have wondered what Tomics attitude over the last 3 years has done to Kyrios attitude..

I think Kyrios appears to be settling, after a pressure filled 12 months, & Kyrios is the talented one with agility & speed & court coverage & shots.

Tomic to me is Philippoussis Mk2.... playboy xtrordinare

Dasher IMO is restricted with power

Kokkinakis is ???

Does anyone else think Kyrios is our most talented up&comer?

I think he's doing well for such a young fella on the international pro stage with his game.  the behaviours will slowly mature as he feels more at ease in the environment.

What has happened to the old Aussie Davis Cup team ethos? Remember Rosewell and Hoad, Newcombe, Roche, Cash and Co, all were tough, competitors and friends through thick and thin. What is going on now? Tomic and Kyrios could be very good but are now sniping each other. What is it about Oz tennis players these days? Lleyton needs to get both of them in a room and bang a few heads together, maybe bring in Rochey as well to give them a reality check.

the Australian culture those oldies grew from, was the close-knit Aussie culture after the wars.  teamwork was commonplace.

nowadays differing cultures brought up within competative fight to survive culture has people divided.  kids from the wrong ethnicity are on the outside wanting in but rejected most of their lives. when some get the high foothold that competitiveness can turn spiteful.

I still think Kyrios is the pick of all, & will be a great Aussie.

Well, we've got the dream final coming up ... Roger vs Rafa

The tennis has been great viewing ... especially the 2 epic mens semi-finals.  The Williams sisters going at it tomorrow night is another classic match-up.

The only time I ever care about Australian representation is if those representing our country behave themselves, give their best and not act like petulant juveniles.  If that doesn't happen, I'm tuning out (but not from the sport)

But watching the best go against the best is what this world sport is all about ... bring on Sunday evening.  One of Federer or Nadal will win another grand slam tournament - before this tournament began at least, that scenario was a long shot.

Nadal/Federer on late Friday evening ... Roger is now 38 so we might not see this match--up again too frequently.  Could be another classic.

One will advance to the final to meet either Djokovic or Bautista Agut (that match-up is on Friday evening as well)

Ash Barty into the S/F's of the Aussie Open ... but not up against the 4 seed (Krejsikova) as she was beaten today by a non seeded Madison Keys

So Ash has a got a real chance to win not just because she's a great player, but because the draw has left the seeded players 2 through to 6 out of the tournament

Go Ash!!

Ash Barty is into the final after a dominant display in the S/F! (defeating Madison Keys)

And we haven't had a female champion in decades (Christine O'Neill 1978)

And FYI, Mark 'Eddo' Edmondson) is the last Australian male to win the Aussie open ... against John Newcombe (Newk)

And now for the Mens Final

Hoping for a Rafa win so he can claim the record for most slams* won

At the moment, Federer, Nadal & Djokovic have all won 20 grand slam tournaments each.  60 between them!

*It can be argued that Rod Laver & Ken Rosewell would have won a stack more slams if the pro tournaments were counted in the 60's or if they were allowed to play in the traditional events (professional players weren't allowed to play at Wimbledon, the French & US opens for a decent period of time so they played on the (arguably) more competitive pro circuit)

Rafael Nadal - 21 Today!!

Next up is the French Open which Rafa has won 13 times already ... so he can get to at least 22 slams or more

He's still got the legs and he's certainly still got the shots

What an absolute champion!

What an amazing comeback by Nadal. How did he manage to win to turn it around!? He actually hit less winners and made more errors across the match too.

Telling shots in the big moments?  Grand slam experience kicked in too

Nadal seemed to get his 2nd wind when Medvedev starting scoffing down the pickle juice!

He certainly changed things up by moving Medvedev all over the court with disguised cross court shots & drop shots

Medvedev starting doing the same but it worked better for Nadal

The rest is history ... great match!

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
