Demonology had a couple of passionate and erudite female posters called Judee and Allicat, neither of whom I have seen posting anywhere for ages, sadly.

Allicat is, I believe, the daughter of legendary Melbourne runner, trainer and later water carrier the late and great Sam Allica who is a life  member of the MFC and was later inducted into our Hall of Fame.  Sam is renowned for being suspended for eight games in 1974 for abusing a boundary umpire!

Hope both ladies are enjoying our season and would be rapt if they resumed posting about the mighty Demons.

How's this for a bump?!?

I came from demonology originally, can remember thinking this joint was wack and the 7 active posters on demonology were way smarter than you bunch of lunatics. From memory it was around the time Ricky Petterd was running around, always liked that guy.

Anyone else from/remember demonology?

I think Judee joined the Dr Who ticket for the attempted coup.

Fond memories of TGR, Rono, The Great Rono and whatever else he wanted to call himself taking on all comers re Jeff White who he just did not rate. Pretty sure he (TGR, not Jeff White) posted here for a while too after Demonology effectively went under.

Has anyone noticed the likes of @Moonshadow and Ethan Tremblay ( who's changed his name to @AdiósAdióswhich I'm guessing he's left) don't post anymore?

I too notice @Wiseblood hasn't been active since April, but see him on twitter a fair bit.

Great characters who added a lot over the journey.

Yep still around. I joined Ology in 2003 I think. Was very active on there as I loved the discussion and banter for about 5 or so years. Conversation was definitely better than here back then, but DL is a great site now

Looking back I probably went a bit too far at times, put it down to maturity and the petulance of youth, but it was fun and there were some great posters

Like a lot of things life got in the way, had kids, moved house, got better jobs that were more demanding etc... something had to give and our beloved team was hardly something to enjoy taking about for a long time so I faded away. Always kept my membership though even if I hardly ever went to a game.

I moved to California last year, got an amazing job opportunity that I couldn't say no to. The irony that the moment I moved away our team is doing better than it ever has in my lifetime doesn't escape me but I haven't missed a game and don't plan to!

I escaped from "Ology after the failed takeover. The Dr Who guy was a total weirdo who said he was only going to let "positive" posts stay up, and would delete anything that contained negativity.

I had the same name there, and spent most of my time back and forth with a nutter called "HellhathNoFury", who said he worked as an "Operative" and was always intimating he had deep contacts but never came out with any worthwhile info. Super aggressive type he was.

Hatchman still posts here but isnt nearly as active as he was on "Ology. Didnt always agree with him but his posts were always worth reading.

I met @GSmith12 and @RobbieF and @Kumatomo_Ken... all terrific people. Robbie was/is a Foundation Hero who was a great read until he left.

Ahh, the old days....

Met RobbieF and one of his sons at a pre-season massacre of Adelaide many years ago. Wonderful people to be at the footy with.

@ding, did I meet GSmith with you at all? I feel I did but can't remember when.

Also said it before but @tilly was a cracker. Bloody hell he tore the Bulldogs supporters apart at a Casey game pre season (even though we got soundly beaten) He was actually so into them that I was convinced he was looking for a blue.

Funny guy, and again, great company at the footy.

As for Dr Who, I had no idea he took over the joint. He and his brother? drove me from the site before that happened.

I was the one that helped wrestle the site off the two brothers, can’t remember their names now.

but it was really bizarre as they were involved at the club somehow and I had the club call me about it. Can’t remember the ladies name but she said whatever you do don’t give access to them. They offered me $$ to sell it to them which I couldn’t do to Tim and Gsmith who helped me get it back.

I had to completely rebuild the forum and in the early days of the new ology it was a lot of work, we had some great times, I stopped running it full time around 2 years ago and let Radar run it, albeit still managing the back end up until last year

it was fun, I really enjoyed it but I think it’s faded into the sunset.

’ land for me is so hard to navigate due to the amount of posters, but it’s got the most gossip that’s for sure!

love going down memory lane seeing all the old posters, and seeing that some of them have come over here. I might start looking at this site more now instead of Facebook :)

I know their names, but ironically enough if you try to post them (not that I intend on doing so), it will be instantly censored like a swear word.

I know this as it also happens in private messages! 😯

That said, it’s kind of understandable. The day of ‘ology’s hostile takeover is still the most surreal day since I’ve been here. We don’t need it relitigated by the Brothers Grimm through deliberate or unintentional doxxing.

I used to post under a different name on 'ology and stuck a bit of money into it. There were some great characters over there in the day. Also some total ratbags. Fortunately there are none on 'land though.

hey, people...

things went sour on demonology when tim got sick...

we always thought that demonland was too straight-laced back then, but most of us migrated when there was no other choice and, I think, demonland improved (especially in grammar and spelling)... 😇

My favourite poster from demonology was Rono. Like Toby Green and Oscar Wilde, he was always controversial, larger than life, and made you keep coming back to view the latest outrage.

Regards to all,

Rollo

That is very nice of you to say that, Demonstone. Thank you. I have one other alter ego as well who does not wear red and blue - he  appears every so often on SEN . . . . Elsewhere, Tiger Fang on Punt Road End had a good run before he was evicted by Rosie.

Thanks for providing a great platform for all the years after Tim. I had a soft spot for ology because its where I started. Ology could get through the work system firewall, but Land could not.

I stopped going there when there became too few posters and threads got dominated by a few. But in the early days the site really reinforced my love the Dees as an interstate fan. I have been lurking  around the boards since around 2002 or 3. I never really got time to post until I retired recently.

So thanks again, and also thanks to Andy. Damn good sites!!

As an aside, I got an email from the admin of 'Ology a week or so ago saying they were pulling the plug entirely. I set up an account recently, but seeing that it had the digital equivalent of tumbleweeds rolling down it's streets saw to it that I didn't make one post.

Very sad, as I started there as a lurker before becoming a fully fledged poster on 'Land.

It never really recovered after the Brothers Grimm conned the admin into signing the ownership rights over to them. It's spluttered along ever since and was finally put out of it's misery.

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
