Juice Newton needs to..

Hit the gym over summer and put on a few kegs. If he is serious about an AFL career he needs to get stronger. Has ability just needs to put a bit of sweat in over summer.

Add Stef Martin, Col Garland, Cale Morton, Addam Maric, John Meesen & No.1 draft pick to that list. Genesis Fitness should offer us a group discount!

In all honesty, The club should have a gym to match or better what Genesis offer.

Being a younger side will always mean you're a bit lighter. Add to that guys like matured players such as Bruce and Green aren't exactly monsters themselves and you've got your explanation

In a way, yes, but Hawks area also very young, ditto bombers, and others, but we are definately, overall, very light!

I see your point though, all im saying is, even our olfder players are light, like you said, Junior, Bruce, Green, Wheatley, Warnock, Bartram (still both youngish i suppose), Even Miller looks alot lighter than previously!

This may sound strange but that 2007 preseason when ND had our players lose a lot of weight has hurt us.

Let players fill out naturally, don't try and mould their bodies to suit the game plan.

Spot on.

Totally agree. This really annoyed me.

Two years before this Neale had all the boys bulking up to compete with Brisbanes game plan and then turns around and changes it all. Was definatley a bad idea.

Spot on. That was the point at which it was clear Neale had lost confidence in his own style and was going to go with a fashion - he wanted to copy the Bdogs and Eade who had manufactured a style to suit THEIR personnel which did not fit ours. Bye Bye ND and the rest.

We should feed 'em up on whatever the "food additive" they use over in the West is. You watch that stick-thin schoolboy Notte, who played on Saturday. Next season he'll be muscle -bound.

I remember Troy Simmonds at Melb.....skin and bone!!! One season in the West and he was a power ruckman!

Whatever it is they eat over there, it builds musces a lot faster than the Demon diet!

How much weight was actually lost DM? I recall at the time it was a miniscule amount of the teams total body weight. The most obvious candidate was Nathan Jones who trimmed down to be able to run out games which he struggled to do in 2006. Guess what it worked specifically with him. The body weight issues was a non event and there were bigger issues that caused our slide.

That was the point at which it was clear Neale had lost confidence in his own style and was going to go with a fashion - he wanted to copy the Bdogs and Eade who had manufactured a style to suit THEIR personnel which did not fit ours. Bye Bye ND and the rest.

ND realised unlike many of the posters here that the game had changed and that his kicking style of game was not going to get past the middle rungs of the ladder. However he realised it far too late. In effectively his last year at the Club he was not able to adapt to the new game either tactically nor within a playing list that he had not maintained the rutlhlessness to appropriately prune post 2002. We pay the price now for the generousity afforded some player during list management in those days.

The game of AFL football has changed more in the past four years than it has in the previous 10 years. Some just dont realise by how much.

...must be given the number 9 jumper next year.

Look at the confidence he gained this week after he was given a two year contract extension.

Give him the jumper and tell him to wear it with pride.

Go Juice, you will be a star.

hopeless player

Did you see his game on Sat, Goose? He chased, tackled, harrased & looked more into it than other games this year. He will get better - not all players are stars from the start.

Another thing i noticed on the w'end - he played with his socks down. maybe he is trying things a bit different, I know its nothing big - but overall it does seem he is trying to get better.

He also shaved for the game and wore red undies...............do you think that would have an influence too?

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
