I rate the little fella. Pace, breaks the lines, Penetrating kick, much like Wheatley's kick. I think he has a future..........just needs to brush up on his defensive skills with more development in the off season - I really think this time next year we could all be talking about him ... your thoughts and be honest.

I really like the look of Buckley. Tries to break the lines and just needs to work on his kicking decisions.

I remember after his 3rd game, Tony Shaw said that he looked a lot like Judd in the way that he moved. Hopefully he can be half as good!

I rate Bucks as well....but he ain't little. I think he's around 190cm which would have been tall enough for a KP ten years ago.

All my mates (me included) call him the butcher because his skills are terrible, but we all agree that he has an uncanny ability to find the ball which is something you can't learn.

After round 22 he should have 2 weeks off and then should never be seen without a footy in his hands kicking... If he wants to become a good consistent player

A bit harsh but yes it does need work. It's guys like Buckley who I suspect the coaches are pinning our future on. He will be shown how to step up, the rest is up to him. How much does he want it? Just ask Nathan Foley.

Its his speed that really has me excited. Also his ability to kick goals on the run from 50.

yes his disposal under pressure needs work, but it has already inproved from early in the year.

Him and Petterd will be our two dynamos.

So long as he butchers the disposal of it, he wont go anywhere. His issue is not kicking technique but poor decision making and execution.

Lets hope he can improve what he does with the ball as his pace and ability to win the ball are assets.

he gave us soo much run and led us with 10/26 running bounces

really like the way he takes on the opposition.

has plenty of upside, still tends to blaze away, needs to learn to lower his vision and spot up a target... it's almost as if his legs are too fast for his head, so he's moving too fast to be able to spot up and hit a target...

hopefully it will come with time...

A big factor in making Bucks and others disposal look bad is the fact that forwards do not present properly. Young players will almost always stuff up when this happens as they are still adjusting. The adjusting bit explains why even what appears like a simple pass is stuffed up. When we are being flogged mercilessly young players do panic.

For example, when we were making finals appearances with Nietz, Robbo and Davey presenting well Bruce's disposal got a pass mark. Even he cannot dispose effectively without forwards presenting well.

In the first q yesterday with forwards on the lead disposal looked ok.

So i will not be bagging young players for poor disposal just yet. I will wait until the team starts winning games and then judge.

conversly i believe that better disposal, on time and better accuracy will make our forwards look better. bate, miller and newton can mark. you just need to kick it to them like freo kicked it to pav and mcp, or how brisbane kick it to brown and bradshaw...

Man he was awful (amongst many others of course) yesterday with his kicking... I loved the fact that he broke the lines and took them on, a great sign indeed.. but man his disposals made me cringe!

If he can work on his disposal he will add some serious excitement to Melbourne's game.

I liked the look of him yesterday, looking forward to his disposal improving. He's got a slightly crazy look about him too and I reckon in a few years he send shivers down his opponents spine. With improved disposal, that pace and his strength we could well be onto a winner here.

He's very close to my new favourite player. I love the way he is willing to take the opposition on and stands up in tackles.

While his disposal is very frustrating, his instinct to run is great. He is predictable in that he almost always takes off from any situation, but he sure breaks the lines. The thing that is so impressive is that he seems to have that wonderful ability to evade tackles. A subtle sideways movement that is so prized in rugby league. No one seems to be able to get their hands on him properly.

I agree with basically all the sentiments already expressed here.

He WILL be a gun IF he can get his disposal right!

He's got all the ingredients to become an explosive and damaging player, his work-ethic is good and his defensive side has improved... but, if he keeps butchering it the way he does, he'll be the next David Spriggs. I hope for his and the clubs sake thats not the case.

I find hope in the fact that, if clubs can teach guys Tadgh Kennelly and Marty Clarke to be effective kickers and decision-makers with the ball, even after learning the game late, then theres hope still for Bucks, who at the moment looks more like an athlete than a true footballer- but with infinite potential. I initially see him filling a role similar to the above two irish players, running off half back for the next couple of seasons, until eventually, with more size, strength and experience, moving into the midfield full time (and hopefully, being a star! ).

But if he doesn't improve his kicking, at best, he'll be the next Daniel Ward, or just another athletic-but-NQR player, like Spriggs, dominating the state leagues.
