Newton - provided a target

hahahahaha. A target on the boundary line! Looked better and more effective last week when silva was there fulltime.

Wheatley- king of turnovers.

I know you can kick it 100meters, I'm even impressed, but seriously if you can't hit a target you are useless.

Thought Miller and Newton were victims of incredibly poor delivery, especially Miller who works incredibly hard all day. In the last, when we finally kicked to advantage Miller took some excellent marks and kicked truly. Newton took some good marks, but some of his goal attempts were selfish.

Martin impressed me greatly.

No, he was ok, didnt get great supply!

Col was dissapointing, shame he couldnt follow up from last week, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt as he had the best stopper in the game on him, in Morris!!

Bartram was average for me, I actually thought Garland was better than u say..

Martin was the big Positive 2day!

Also Buckley, youre harsh on him, I thought his best game, showed alot IMO!

pffft highly disagree about garland!! he played on robert murphy and while garland hauled in 21 disposal and had 7 marks he also kept murphy goaless!

watch the replay again buddy!

Can't get supply when you lead to the wrong place the whole freaken day.

Bartram - A honest tagger but is hopeless marking a dangerous player in our defence. Cost us three goals today with his lack of composure or lack of strength today....

Martin - Was awesome today. The goals that Minson did kick were dubious or garbage time goals.

Newton - Can jump and mark but needs to improve kicking

Wheatley - continues to turn the footy over and is not accountable. Should only be playing if he is forced to kick 60 metres with every kick

Garland - Was very good today agian, absolutley smashed Robert Murphy

Dunn - continues his good lock down jobs on Cooney with some assistance from Bartram

I've reached the point where I am not expecting anything from Sylvia every week so I won't be disappointed.

Bell was average I thought.

Wheatley kept turning it over, and so did Jones/Morton to a lesser extent.

Bartram - form is coming back

Bate - got overshadowed at times.. tried though

Bell - didnt really notice him ( he has mates )

Bruce - Get a lot of ball .. wastes a lot of ball !! Id he the worst hanballer in the league ??

Buckley - starting to find a littel something

Dunn - kept along his path..encouraging

Garland - even his lesser days are getting better.

Green - give him his cap.. he serves it

Jamar - you just know theres someone better to com

C. Johnson - not prepared to eat pie with him yet.. ( but might warm up the oven )

P. Johnson - seemed a littel off his usual.. still ok though

Jones - he's a goer.. needs to regain a bit of poise

Martin - and he's played how many games ?? golly.. might be a bit of a find !!

Miller - the oven is warm because of him..lol. He has stepped up...more useful with ball.

Morton - often wasteful in relation to all his finer work.. needs more heft.. He'l lget there :)

Newton - Deserves another game

Sylvia - did he play ?? Got to be heading the trade list currently

Warnock - quietly went about it.. I like him

Wheatley - some great stuff. .some dumbkicks. fix it !!

Whelan - I really dont know what al the fuss is about..very plain

Valenti - nuggety ..has a go.. seems to think when he has it.. ( wish more did )

Wonaeamirri - like a tide.. high and low.. still if this was a lesser game..it bodes well :)

Garland played a good game on Murphy...pushed him outside of the scoring zone nearly all day.

Dunn deserves praise for his job on Cooney.

And best for last...what a great effort by Stef Martin today!

People are underestimating the performances of Garland and Warnock (and Bell who played on Johnson for a period of time).

Their direct opponents in Brad Johnson and Robert Murphy, kicked a grand total of ZERO goals between them. Given how good these two players are, it is a fantastic result and both players need to be congratulated.

Garland is a serious talent and Warnock is coming along very nicely.

Thought Valenti was solid today. Don`t know if he will ever be a star at AFL level but will only get better from here . I look forward to his last 7 rounds as he certainly deserves to be in the team

Bell looked lost again today. Bell is an excellent spectator - he watches it all happen around him.

He took some good steps last season, however he's the weak link in our backline.

Starting backline next year (09 the year of health and prosperity for the demons)

Garland Warnock Petterd

Rivers Martin Wheatley

Garland - not as effective

He smashed him!!!!!!

Murphy is an out-and-out star, who I rate higher than almost every media pundit... And Garland won hands down!

Other than that, not too bad an effort.

As they say 2 steps forward and 3 steps back

Bartram - Tried, but lacks polish sometimes

Bate - No consistency

Bell - Needs confidence

Bruce - Please learn to handpass

Buckley - Enjoyed his run

Dunn - Another scalp

Garland - Continues to shine

Green - Lead by example

Jamar - Taps to opponents

C. Johnson - Looks more composed

P. Johnson - Not best effort

Jones- Stint at Sandy

Martin - Excited by this prospect

Miller - Continues to improve

Morton - What happened to his silky skills?

Newton - Limited options

Sylvia - Does he care?

Warnock - Was rarely noticed

Wheatley - Wasted opportunities

Whelan - Provided stability

Valenti - Took a massive step forward

Wonaeamirri - Needed to be closer to goal

Bell - Better than expected.

P. Johnson - Lacked impact.

I agree with both these points. I thought Bell wasn't as bad as many here have said, and did a pretty good job in his time on Brad Johnson. Still looks a bit lost when he has the footy, but his work defensively is underrated.

PJ came off after almost taking a HUGE hanger right in front of were sittting on the flank, and landing straight on his head. He took his time getting up, then was escorted off the ground very gingerly. Thought that would be the end of his day due to concussion, but he came back on a few minutes later and effected a brilliant spoil running on from the wing. I thought his second half was a lot quieter, but after landing on his head earlier in the game, did his job, relieving Jamar. Given his level of comittment, i doubt he'll be dropped. His ruckwork was pretty good today too, as was Jamar's.

As an aside, i noticed the Bulldogs ruckmen, Hudson/Minson and, at times, Wight, are really horrible in the ruck duels. Is it just me, or are they just really bad? Like almost Messen-like bad in the contest. They were basically completely ineffective at getting their hands to the footy at the taps, but to their credit, come into their own in other areas of the game. Minson kicked a few goals (one from a very dubious free), and Hudson is fantastic once the ball hits the deck, but i couldnt believe how poor they actually were in the duels.

Our guys completely dominated the ruck IMO, but thier midfielders seems just so well drilled at sharking the footy from opposition taps, much like IMO Collingwood, whose ruckmen also arent of the highest quality. Our miidfielders need to get better in this regard. There's no use Jamar getting a million taps if the opposition keep taking the footy.

Bartram - Is getting better

Bate - Lazy at times

Bell - Really don't rate

Bruce - Alot of ball

Buckley - Deserving of spot

Dunn - People doubted him?

Garland - I doubted him?

Green - Another great game

Jamar - Best form of career

C. Johnson - I never doubted

P. Johnson - Didnt do much

Jones- Tried but limited

Martin - Stefan, great game

Miller - Best season yet

Morton - Deserves his spot

Newton - Could be a star

Sylvia - His worst for the year

Warnock - Solid as usual

Wheatley - His worst of year

Whelan - Spear, Spear, Spear

Valenti - Best game yet

Bj has had an average year, you cannot judge Bells game on that!

Hes just not up to it, simple! no upside seen at all this year!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
