saying nothing to Hutchy who works at the paper who actually DID it)

While it was the Sun, I didn't think it was Hutchy who nabbed the interview.

Not saying it was Hutchy who "got" the inteview, but why would Archer criticize Caro, saying she would do the same thing, when Hutchy sat next to him and worked for the offending journo's paper and is clearly closer to the source.

No. You said "Hutchy who works at the paper who actually DID it" - see above.

Haha clearly you can see i was saying the paper that did it, as he works for the paper that actually did it, as opposed to Caro who works for The Age

Correct. Once you cleared it up on the 26th of August (ref to post); but on the 25th of Aug your post referred to Hutchy not the paper - who nabbed the interview. The End.

Caro is not that good although on Footy Classified she has got two things right involving the Ds

1. Ben Holland is just an old hack wanting his last payday re his dispute with Richmond and;

2. The Ds leadeship group after Davey's suspension being a joke.

She has worn some interesting outfits on the show, once she wore an art smock and once she work something that Colin Sylvia would wear.

Demons Duped

Yet again Caro stands up for what she believes in, delivering a fair and balanced report.

No doubt those who dislike her will enjoy the article, then find out she wrote it and think "well that's a once off," but i say thanks Caro.

When our club is unable to stand up for itself, we need gutsy journos to help us out.

Thank you

I think the poster has been supportive of Caro Wilson for some time. No need for the unnnecessary feckless comments on chauvinism.

I've gotta say that I've changed my mind about Caro.

I used to think that she was nothing more than gutter journalist who wrote far too many articles about the only team she knew anything about ie Richmond.

Lately she has shown real interest in Melbourne and her article this morning ( "Demons Duped" ) was absolutely spot on.

She has really tried to support us lately - and I reckon its about time all us Caro knockers gave her a break.

It must have been tough for a female to get to the of the tree as a football journalist. She's done well

It's quite possible that this article was to some extent an aopolgy for her last Demon-related article, which was poorly written and researched and also tagged us with an $5m 'post-demolition' debt, instead of the $2m that it actually was.

She has made a point of including an direct statement that it is a $2m position now, which looks a lot like a correction to me.

Hmm.. I'm thinking about the 'we deserve it' style comments we've heard from the club.

Is it possible they are banking on an on-field resurgence in the next couple of years?

Could be an interesting ploy - by reinforcing the notion that the poor fixture is because of bad performances it means that the AFL will have a harder time making excuses to not give us a decent fixture when we're back in the finals mix.

We have to pin them down somehow - is anyone here prepared to assume that if we start to get results on field the AFL will just automatically give us a decent fixture? No? Didn't think so.

She's one of the few intelligent football writers and because of this she attracts the ire of her less intelligent male peers. Hutchinson being an absolute prime example. He knows she holds more kudos as a journalist because whilst he's sniffing around the gutters of "celebrity footballers" she's writing articles that provoke thought and interest in the football world.

She knows so much about footy and reports very well too. Love her on Footy Classified and she is much better ( by far) than Craig Hutchinson ( Mr. Moody!!), and Sam Newman ( Mr Has been!!)

How rare to see a journalist get it right for once.

Caro. You've earned brownie points here, and for more reasons than the fact you've come to the defence of MFC.

Well done.

I also agree with Caro and Reilly.

The AFL rightly wants the MFC to lift our game, particularly off the field, but their bloody mindedness only hinders and limits the good work already done to this point in time.

However, what worries me more is that the Club has been very quiet of late, in terms of its communications with members.

No major sponsor so far, games scheduled for next year, which we know by bitter experience, do not draw good crowds on Sundays and a seeming acceptance that we deserve a good kick in the teeth.....again.

How's the business plan going guys and when we will we hear more about it?

It would be nice to hear something positive from the MFC before Christmas, beside the draft.

I wait with bated breath.

Cheers

Not so fast my dear Watson. Newman has signed on again for a reportedly $3 million...hardly a Mr Has Been.

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
