Apparantly a big chance to return this week

Interested in getting your thoughts on where he will play?

I believe he is best suited to forward pocket next to robbo and wonna

Posted

He could be the interchange steward making sure we don't get any free kicks paid against us. It's the only way he would influence a game this year. Times up Adem. Do the lap with the skippa and then sit in the coaches box.

Posted

Agreed that is probably the biggest problem we have at the club. But i believe Adem has played his last game for melbourne. He got an Armchair ride last year with ND and i dont think DB feels the same way.

Posted

he can still play...

he can kick goals and he is very efficient ball use.

i wouldnt like to see aussie or cale dropped but i wouldnt mind seeing him play for somone such as wheatley or whelan who might not be playin

2 years ago he kicked like 4-5 goals agianst hawks as a pocket... and there were 3 of the better goals u would see in the afl

Na I think its the right time for him to come back... he was down on confidence + still not 100% last year after his shorter stint at Sandy... I think he'll come back a lot stronger this time.

Apparently Yze's attitude all year, pre-season and since being dropped, has been excellent. Maybe he deserves another go but he'd want to make it count. Might not get many chances in the latter half of the year.

Look if you guys are correct i would be stoked as it would be great to see a bit of Yze Magic on the grass again but i can't see it happening. 2 Years ago the Hawks were nothing compared to what they are now.

Definitely. I think this is probably his last chance. Its sad to think that only 2 years ago, he was tipped to play until he was 35 and he certainly looked as if his body would hold up too but he's really gone downhill.

Only reason i am being harsh is i want i want my team to get a ruthless edge and challenge for a flag. For too long Melbourne has been sometimes been a "Retirement Village" for old players to get a few more games. Its not a good example for the young kids coming in. Byron should not have played last year either. 2006 was his year.

How can you justify dropping a youngster (lets be honest, who else would you drop for the sake of playing Yze) in order to play a veteran who is on the verge of retirement and is struggling for form?

I rather bring in a raw Maric than an over-cooked Yze.

Posted

I say he deserves one more chance to show whether or not he can still play AFL football. Against the Hawks thats not such a bad idea because we're unlikely to do too well anyway, however considering the likely standard of our football vs theirs anyone who plays badly is going to be targeted so I get the feeling that should he play he's a good chance to become a scapegoat and not last another match.

there is no experience in this team that is why we need yze in... when the kids drop there bundle who is gonna say not good enough??? green??bruce??these are our older players?? after neitz no one has the grunt to get into the young uns.. yze needs to play to keep it all together...

couldn't agree more Jaded. Whats to be gained by playing Yze? he is not a part of the future, we should be playing people who are.

Give me one example over the years when we are being badly beaten, it has been Adem Yze who has taken a game by the scruff and got us back into it. Yze played great footy when the team was flying. But was always the First senior player to go missing when the prospect wasnt Good.

Thats why he is not a good example

Yze must come back this week.

We've flushed 300K down the toilet with him this year, so he owes us some game time.

Play him deep in the foward line besides Robbo to create a two pronged attack. Remember Yze is a fantastic mark for his size and has great goal sense.

I'm all for playing the kids, but I also want Yze (one of my fave players overt the years) to still get a few games. Plus he's copped his demotion on the chin, so deserves another chance. People are being to harsh on him IMO.

The game has passed him by. He has been a great player for MFC but when did he last grab a game and play 4 quarters??

they should give him a game, if he's playing well enough he should be in

Completely agree!

If his form justifies him playing, then he plays.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
