Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

After being in Perth yesterday and feeling and hearing those rabid animals. I feel we need to do more at our home games. We need to turn the mcg into a frickin fortress and make it uncomfortable for away teams!

The answer is winning

Pure and Simple.

Hopefully all the bandwagoners who jumped on & showed up for the 2 finals actually sign up as members & come to games next year. We clearly had more support at the first 2 finals, like to see these people show up from day 1 next year. Should get 50k members

Agree with all..

Would be great I’d we could create a better home ground atmosphere.

Tigers have drums playing when they enter the ground and the Hawks and others use the scoreboard to have a visual with sound when they goal!

Cant we do something unique but similar in 2019. Make the G at fortress that other sides fear when they meet the Demons !

Agree, we have heaps of supporters but they don't seem to want buy memberships?

If they showed up during the home and away season we could make the G our fortress.

Each to their own, but I hate the cringe worthy artificial nonsense other teams use after goals. Much prefer to hear genuine crowd support then that rubbish.

I like Robbo, but at our home games he hosts stupid sprinting or spekky competitions, instead of revving up the Demon supporters.

I agree with previous posters who urge us to try to build up the “cauldron of hatred” that interstate clubs, Etihad clubs, and even MCG tenant clubs develop at their home ground.

Geelong have been perennial finalists, however mediocre their list, by having 8-10 games a year with enormous home ground advantage.

iSimilarly for SA, and WA clubs, with 11 games per year with that huge advantage.

And....We MUST stop selling home games!!

Onfield success will  draw more money from sponsors than the money gained from selling games to NT.

Lets have a few easy home games at the G against Bris ,GC. and  Freo, where they have to put up with a stadium with no one supporting them.

It would help to occasionally play WCE and Adelaide at home, too.

All that artificial crap, add the EssenDung air raid siren, is just further Americanisation of our game.

If you want that synthesised nonsense, go to the basketball.  Or 20/20 cricket, or the ridiculous preseason game with the sparklers and rectangular field (can’t even remember what it was called. - JLT or maybe IDC)

I agree. However my 5yo son who started coming to games regularly this year winders why we don't have anything after our goals when every other team does. Markets are changing we may have to change with them.

If there was a roof at Optus stadium yesterday it would have blown off.

It was incredible.

The Meth Coke board got exactly  what they wanted, should have been 100,000 seets though. Bad mistake

yeah so much agree

which is worse.... Zooom  or Woof Woof and they go on

The MCG is a difficult ground for atmosphere as even a crowd of 40k is almost lost. Better than 20k at Docklands which is so cold and dark because of the roof closure policy.

50k is just right as it creates artificial demand... as much if not more can be made from such a stadium.

You have to remember that Perth Park (Optus) is not owned by WCE or the AFL. Took a long time for the stadium deal to be done. I would love to know the final details.

As an aside the stadium owners have refused to allow the two goal ends to be named after football players as they want to play down the AFL side of things and promote it as a multi use stadium.

Brings back memories of the guy who ran Docklands when it first opened who said we would have to get used to anew way of going to the football. Lasted about six weeks if I recall.

I agree with most of that, but 100,000 seats would be a strong case to move a Grand Final. I am glad it won’t be, but they ruined a great opportunity

Meth Coke have a huge membership waiting list

Agree but with showers 13 and windy forecast for Saturday a warm day final is mildly appealing ?

The old must have the GF where "the most people" can see it is a bit of a furphy when the  stadium is pre booked by  permanent stakeholders.

Anyway given the 40 year deal it's a little academic

    GAMEDAY: Rd 09 vs Carlton

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again headlining another blockbuster at the MCG to kick off the round of footy. The Dees take on the Blues and have the opportunity to win their third game on the trot to solidify a spot in the Top 4 in addition to handing the Blues their third consecutive defeat to bundle them out of the Top 8.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
