Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Who are the Dees chasing for 2017 and at what cost?

Bad news. From all that I know and have been led to believe is that Hibberd will sign on when back from Croatia. Hate on me, do what you like, it's just what I have been told. Could be wrong.

Good news in my book, hope you are right

So i lose no sleep if Hibberd stays with the Druggers

If you are talking about Melksham, in your usual disrespectful way, he is in a really good space, he is like the others and gone overseas, but is keeping his fitness regime up to the level required to start pre season in great shape

I am happy to give all ex-EFC players the benefit of the doubt. They deserve a fresh start if they join a new club, especially if it is Melbourne. To coin a Christian phrase I think that you 'should not judge others lest you be judged yourself'

I see your point, but i can honestly say despite many years of being a loyal Dees supporter through some very average times, had we been found guilty of drug cheating, i would no longer support the club.

I think it's fair that some people value the integrity of the game and have concerns about convicted drug cheats joining a young and impressionable list

Jake was a young, impressionable kid doing exactly what his club was telling him to do. Drug cheat? Give it to his club, by all means. He was a 21 year old kid doing what he was told was best for him and also legal.

Didn't stop David Zaharakis and Courtney Dempsey from saying no.

They knew exactly what they took hence  why most of the 12 have re-signed.

"Hey Jake Melksham. We're going to inject you in the gut with this stuff that we hope will make you a better player. It's illegal, but let's roll the dice. What do you think Jake?" "Umm, ok."

I reckon they've re-signed with Essendon because they love playing footy with their mates and the fuckwits who put them in this position are no longer at the club.

That doesn't explain why they failed to disclose to ASADA when up till those injections they'd informed testers if theyy took so much as a panadol.

As McDevitt said, at best they were extremely naive. At worst they were complicit.

I would be getting stuck into Hawks bigtime. Their (Melb) Football staff need repositioning back to us asap. Well, the ones that are worth it strategy wise.

This has got to stop before we have no records left too.

Then you must be concerned about every sport, because you can guarantee it is happening

Melksham will have paid a heavy price for his naivety, done his time, he should be allowed to move on

Assume you have the cleanest skin in your endeavours in life, I know I don't

Went nude to training once, players asked me what I was wearng coz it needed ironing

I choose to believe the former. Those boys payed a huge price for it too, including the fact that they will be labelled by some as drug cheats for the duration of their careers. I don't want to come across as an Essendon sympathizer because I hate the pricks but I feel for the players. They've done their time.

Fair enough mate. Once jake puts the red & blue guernsey on he'll have my full support. However he well may become a popular first to be dropped choice around this board i suspect.

As for other players who Melbourne may chase, i wonder if Paul Ahern from GWS has been discussed much? Coming off a knee injury, but a huge talent with plenty of pace and a good size to. Could fit our needs. I have no idea who we may look for as far as ruck support goes though?

Is it possible we've already signed Sharrod Wellingham? Been good for us today.

How is it possible that Collingwood are so ordinary when they've managed to get so much value offloading players who contribute so little? (e.g. Wellingham, Dawes, Thomas)

If only we could match their strategy - first round pick for Dunn?

Bit harsh on Thomas who although I can't stand, he has been very unlucky with injury and to a lesser degree Dawes injuries haven't helped either.

Wellingham has played some good footy at times also but they shanked letting go Rhyce Shaw who played a vital role in the Swans premiership and Heath who at the end of this year will most likely be a two time b&f and two time All-Australian.

If Buckley could manage them the Pies could have had a mini dynasty similar to the cats

Swap MFC 3rd round Pick #46 to GWS for either:

Jake Barrett. Barrett is tough, skilled, wins clearances, great tackler, only 20.

Not able to crack Giants midfield due to talented group of Shiel, Greene, Hopper, Ward, Scully, Coniglio, Kelly, Griffen.

Or

James Stewart. 198cms. Versatile tall forward behind Cameron, Patton, Lobb. More tall forwards on Giants incoming group.  Stewart is 22, from Sandringham and would be a very addition ruck, forward or tall back option.

Is Matt Jones working his way into some trade value? Don't get me wrong, he's been pretty good lately, I just don't think he suits our needs at the moment. Considering our age profile, we really need to maximise the leadership in our older ranks, and on that front I don't consider him to be the right fit. No idea who to bring in, and I'm ok with him re-signing on a 'foot soldier' contract considering his form. Just asking the question. Can he be the 'but wait there's more'  for something?

They managed to deskill their players by playing Malthouse dribble and then ruin several of their players both current and former with terrible fitness and injury management.

Thomas, Dawes and Wellingham were 3 traded out, but plenty others like Cloke, Reid and so on stayed and aren't close to the players they used to be.

We have to make and win a few finals first before cleverly trading some offcuts. The Hawks have done it better than most.

Soon to be 29 journeyman who can't nail down a regular spot for Melbourne. He has absolutely no value. A really bad team - which is Brisbane and that's it, could take him for free but that's it.

I think he'll stay as he's a handy fringe player on a wing in a position we don't have a lot of depth in. 1 more year probably ends a handy career for a bloke plucked from the VFL.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
