Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I didn't say they don't go hard, but confidence is one thing we clearly lack compared to their players, if toumpas was there he'd get far more support, players would go out of their way to get him the ball to build his confidence, senior gun players would demonstrate on field what is expected and required to be good AFL players, we have none of the above.

Apologies, you didn't.

But, it's the way Toumpas plays the game that worries me.

I think most of it is confidence, he seems to be attacking the contest more as the year has gone on, maybe a full pre season and some confidence will give us a better indication, but my brother in law is mates with a bloke involved at the doggies and they considered Toumpas on par with whitfield at pick one and couldn't believe he got through to us, so i still hold out faith.

It is a worry how Toump plays at the moment - there is no confidence in his game at all - it was higlighted in the 2nd qtr??? when he was clear inside 50 and had two options (kick goal or pass to spencer) and fuked it up...

It is also a worry that people can write off a 1st year player that has had zero support in the midfield as well. N Jones and Viney is all he had today. Put Toup in a good side and he will flourish. The problem with the MFC is there is no leadership and [censored] poor standards

How about judging a bloke like Sylvia whos been in the system 10 years and I saw more of Toup then I did of Sylvia and I'd back Toump had a greater impact then the 10 year hero Sylvia (that should be saying something)

Regardless of what side he's in, he continually makes inexcusable errors that other players don't. If he was dangerous around goals (for the second week in a row, he made a terrible decision in front of them) he'd at least warrant a selection. But he simply doesn't have enough going on in any area of his game at the moment.

I have no time for Colin Sylvia. Never have.

This is a Toumpas thread and he has been underwhelming thus far.....for me anyway.

NA - name me our outside mids then let me know who of them deserves to play ahead of Toump (whos only played 10 games?) who is only 18?

C'mon mate real world - the MFC are full of soft blokes who don't support the club and play for themselves - Compare Sylvias game to Toumpas for a start - then ask yourself as a young bloke how'd you go in this side?

Unfortunately at the moment, the best way to kill a promising draftee's career is to put him in the MFC midfield. There is just so little support and leadership. Nate Jones is our best leader and performer in the middle, and I dont think he is a natural leader, just that we have none other. At any other club he wouldn't have that burden placed upon him and he could thrive without the hardest tag each week. Apart from Jones, who does Toumpas look up to in our midfield?

That's absolutely right, Nathan Jones is a good player but he isn't a Chris Judd or Gary Ablett, we have no elite senior talent to teach our younger players, it's like the blind leading the blind, we rely on our coaches to teach these players and we have mucked up our last two coaching appointments, any wonder the players aren't developing as we'd like.

jumbo, Clint, you're pathetic. You're truly pathetic.

You're having a go at a first-year player when our 'senior' players were not just as bad, they were worse.

Toumpas has his whole career ahead of him. Where is Howe at? Sylvia? Davey? Grimes? Trengove? Those are the players you should be venting about.

Your continual collective inability to recognise how hard it is for a first-year player to play at a consistently high standard when he has no support, no leadership, and no confidence is bewildering at best.

And next year we'll probably begin to kill the career of Aish or Sheed or the like and then claim him as a dud because he didn't set the world on fire after a handful of games in the worst AFL midfield seen in the last 20 years. Carlton had an average midfield, then got Judd. GC got Ablett. The circumstances are different but the point is the same. Get an A grade midfielder or 2 who are leaders and your draftees lift. So the question is, who would we target? Daisy? Swan? Sidey? Sewell? Fyfe? Kennedy (Swans)? D Martin? If we could get the last 2 we'd go a fair way towards righting the ship.

It's a Toumpas thread.

Please start a Howe, Sylvia, Davey, Grimes and Trengove thread and I'll comment.

He is (another) wasted pick. Face it.

If I did start a thread, I'd certainly not be hoping it's so that you can post in it.

Toumpas is not a wasted pick. If we'd picked Wines we'd be 0% better, and you'd be whinging about Wines. Toumpas isn't close to being one of our problems right now.

Face it.

People having a go at a 19 year-old first-year player are missing the bigger picture. In fact, arguably, the entire picture.

Our club is rotten. The culture is putrid. We can't develop players and are mediocre to the core.

None of this is Toumpas' fault - unfortunately it is now his problem.

Hey Titan {people here have made excuses for players like Silvia the whole of their careers Dont you get it? This is where it starts !Silvia should have been exposed early in his career= Grimes also Davey Is a joke! Some here support them all in spite of their serial underperforming See the reality!!

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
