  1. Credit where credit is due. We emailed the Club about our disappointment with the whole experience back on Labour Day. Today the kids received a package with a hand written letter from Nathan Jones apologising that they didn't get any autographs or photos with the players. Included were beanies, badges and Nathan's autograph. I can tell you right now, when the 2 of them get home from school, they will be die-hard demons again in a second. Fair effort for the captain of our club to do this, could have quite easily got a junior player onto it. Well done MFC and Nathan Jones in particular, turned a negative into a huge positive for 2 kids.

  2. There have been many discussions about whether sinking Gazillions into Western Sydney, primarily rugby country was/is a good idea...I think Titus O'Reily has nailed it.. Scientists discover AFL club in Western Sydney Scientists from the University of Western Sydney (UWS) have discovered a previously unknown AFL team living in Western Sydney. Professor Rachael Jenkins, Head of Anthropology at UWS, said it was amazing that the team had gone this long without being discovered. “This is an extraordinary find. They seem keen to engage with us and have offered us footballs that they have written their names on as a sign of friendship.” “They wear mainly orange and talk a lot about Giants, which seem to figure heavily in their foundation myths. “They’ve been keen to barter for items such as food, water and mature bodies in return for priority picks.” The research team has warned locals to keep away from the team, to avoid spreading infections. “Outside their own group, they’ve had almost no contact with other people,” said Professor Jenkins. Locals have reacted with surprise to the news but say there have been unsubstantiated reports in the past of a something being there. “We always took any reports with a grain of salt,” said local resident Gary Strenski. “Once a bunch of Collingwood supporters turned up in the neighbourhood but we just called the police. Perhaps they could have been looking for them,” Hospital records also show a man named ‘Israel Folau,’ once turned up at the local hospital making strange claims about living with a tribe of AFL footballers. The research team said they are still unsure how the team came to be in Western Sydney. “It makes almost no sense at all. AFL teams usually stick to southern parts of Australia or the occasional capital city. Western Sydney is a pretty hostile environment for them,” said Professor Jenkins.

  3. I work with Hal's mother and she is a force to be reckoned with. It didn't surprise me when I heard he was the mystery player. She hasn't told anyone, it was supposed to be kept confidential. But she is after justice and she will get it one way or another in my opinion. She was appalled by the way the club communicated with the parents and how her son was off loaded after his rookie contract was up. He had worked through numerous injuries only to be unloaded when it suited the club. She was less than impressed by James H. But that is to be expected I think as a mum. But she is no fool and has not been impressed by the way the Club has handled their players and the issue. In her view her son has been injected with an unknown cocktail of supplements or whatever they were and then unloaded by the club with no support system in place. You are on your own son. Any wonder Mum might be mad?

  4. Hey Guys, I thought you might be interested in a Dees weekly podcast my friend and I have created. We are looking for passionate Dees supporters to be a part of it and build it from the ground up. We have lined up a few ex-players to guest host (one from the 2000 Grand final side). If you are interested you can like our FB page here and msg us with any ideas or suggestions. Our website is www.deespodcast.com We are both long term visitors of Demonland and love the content. Especially the training reports and articles. Would love any feedback! Cheers guys

  5. Actually, some research conducted by Motorola back in the 1970s or 1980s (sorry, but I can't find it) found that customer retention is higher among people with an initial negative experience who are subsequently satisfied by the efforts of the provider of the product to fix the problem. It's why many companies provide extended warranties and great customer service centres. I'm not saying the MFC is that strategic and stuffed up the Labour Day training session deliberately, but the good news is that those who receive the apology may become more dedicated supporters than if they had gone to a training session which had proceeded as it should have.

  6. Dean Kent is currently an average player Dean Kent has the tools and potential to be a very good player Dean Kent does not work hard enough to 1) create options 2) create space for a team mate 3) Gut run with his direct opponent Basically Dean does not work hard enough when he doesn't have the ball Impressive highlight reel, but the only thing preventing Kent from being a very very good AFL player is Dean, he has all the tools it up to him to put in the required effort, otherwise in 5 years time we will still be talking about what he could be

  9. I bet he wont. he has had longer than most to prove, and from the first time I saw him at training to now thought he would never make it. he just doesn't have the football ability. blistering pace means nothing if you cant get the pill.

  17. Many of us thought the Labour Day fiasco was a missed opportunity to take advantage of a perfect day to put the MFC brand out there when so many had the day off. I didn't buy in on the cost it would have been to do a 'mini' gala day for its supporters, that just sounded like a cop out, when long term it would pay off ten fold. It would have been a perfect lead-in to the Family day at Luna Park.Lets hope they take the negative and learn from the outpouring of complaints and suggestions from their supporters and learn to do it better. We move on, they copped their fair whack at the time, rightly so. But its now in the past. To be fair, lets NOT forget all the good things they do, some we never hear about. Its not all bad, we DO acknowledge the MFC when we hear a feel-good story. I recall the little girl they sent Jack Watts a Dollar? to re-sign, then she got to meet her hero. The lttile boy, who's dad called the club and the Nat Jones and a few players, went out of their way to give him the best birthday he had ever had. The father was god-smacked. Then their was American Demon? who signed up and was given more they he ever expected. When the supporters do speak up they listen, if we fail to bring it to the clubs attention that we expect better, how will they know where in what areas they need to lift their game. I think the PR Dept got the message. The Moral is: We are passionate about our club, as passionate supportrs that passion flowed out. But they can be forgiven, and rightly so. m'kaay and family and going to have a couple of happy little vegemites tonight. Well done MFC!

  28. ODI might well be disappointed. Point is it needs 8-9 wins to equal improvement. Any less is treading water....or pizzing in it. Same thing really.

  32. Agree nutbean. We have a lot of average players. If they cannot be moved to good players then they will need to be replaced. Easy to say but a bit harder to achieve. There will always be average players amongst the 40 but he have a pile of them at present. The ratio is way out of whack.

  42. FFS talk about a derailed thread, skill set and talk of an entire other load of tripe. Skill Set is that what we are basing AFL players on now is it, so just draft somebody with all the skills in the world and they will be a gun. Lets get one thing straight skill set is one thing and nothing if you are not prepared to put the hard yards in. For christ sake the last 8 years should tell you all that. Fitzy is tall and has good pace for someone of that size I would say his field kicking is good when given time and space, unfortunately that doesn't happen a lot in the AFL and he hardly has the god given ability and poise of a Pendlebury to find space naturally. 200cm, with pace, nice kick and can take a grab - He was always going to be drafted He has had some issues and probably on occasion shown a bit of potential for him to get contract extensions, but it's a ruthless business and it's now or never for Fitzy he is certainly on his last chance. Talent and potential will only get you so far
