  1. school football ties may be stronger than grandfather ties methinks..my son was pretty chuffed as a suffering dees boy since birth and a close mate of W
  2. my son goes to school with the grandson of a filth great. he was with him when the trade of picks for 7 came through....lets just say, smiles were infectious particularly as CP is a former student and close friend
  3. Mahoney got all excited with his brand new tinnie and headed out with a good supply of burley and some defrosted pilchards - only problem is, all the other boats were fishing with soft plastics and unfortunately the big fish swam straight past his smelly offering
  4. I don't see Howe or Toumparsefreckle on the Demonland banner, so really, they were not rated by any of you armchair selectors; so who gives a kcuff. 2 bit hacks - no one is going to be talking about either of them next year. Next.....
  5. Roosy also wasn't coming to us according to his time 360 - hes a player and thats what I like about him
  6. funny you say that. I went to the fathers day breakfast at my sons primary school recently where everyone was asked to wear their team colours. My son and I and 2 other dads/kids were the only ones in the school hall of around 500 kids wearing Dees scarves/jumpers, that is a real shame. The only way we can keep this club's membership base alive is to lock in Hogan for 10 years on $1.5m and then build a team around him. I nearly headbutted one arrogant , balding rusty-nut wearing a hawthorn jumper who found it hilarious to chant" '88, '88" at me - not the best look I decided at a nice little Catholic primary
  7. Maybe not... Gold Coast Suns player Harley Bennell charged
  8. 91/2 hours have passed and unfortunately, this thread should have been closed as nothing good has come from it....some people will always claim to be non-racist whilst exhibiting racial sentiments; dare I recall a certain Pauline Hanson? if you have the time to defend this type of behaviour here, maybe donate some of your time to a worthy cause like the Aboriginal Literacy Foundation - you may find it the most rewarding thing you ever do.... get back to the woeful MFC predicament people, it seems to unite your love/hatred of something universally without being too confronting
  9. oh please, this thread needs closing as it is going to spiral into even more BS about "he's rude, he's a diver, he whinges, he didn't deserve AOY". God help us if this is where the mentality is still at in this country.....plain and simple, if you stand at the ground like a pathetic sheep and boo this guy, you are either a redneck simpleton or a racist. To claim that a crowd full of opposition supporters would waste their time standing up and booing for any other reason is absolute shizen and you all know it.
  10. I guess the OP was directed at you then, quality stuff Munga
  11. Too true. My 16 year old son asked me to take him to the soccer tonight, my first ever soccer game by the way. He then went out last night and bought a Real Madrid top with his own money ($120). I asked him this morning whether he wants to go Sunday to the St Kilda game and his response was "Dad, after that crap game against Lions, I think I'll pass this week". He then added that the Pies and Dogs are on Foxtel Sunday from Etihad and he'd prefer to watch that game as they both kick decent scores....very sad to hear that as a long suffering Dees tragic, particularly as I have 3 other kids (all members with my hard earned) who have all only come to a couple of games this year also. This is the worrying trend that could become all too familiar with the rolling mass that we are seeing each week. My kids just aren't turned on by the game and it's not all about where Melbourne is at, it's the game itself - certainly didn't help that I talked all four of them into that rubbish game last week.
  12. Credit where credit is due. We emailed the Club about our disappointment with the whole experience back on Labour Day. Today the kids received a package with a hand written letter from Nathan Jones apologising that they didn't get any autographs or photos with the players. Included were beanies, badges and Nathan's autograph. I can tell you right now, when the 2 of them get home from school, they will be die-hard demons again in a second. Fair effort for the captain of our club to do this, could have quite easily got a junior player onto it. Well done MFC and Nathan Jones in particular, turned a negative into a huge positive for 2 kids.
  13. I'll have a shot old fart. How about you get your 11 and 8 year old up, run to the shops to buy them a sharpie texta each, rummage around til you can find 2 clean footys, last years scarves and the knowledge that I'm going to make their day by buying them a membership each; drive to the train station and discover that you need to buy 2 mykis plus fares for even the 8 year old; get there early coz the kids are pumped to see players in the flesh; put up with the unprofessional, amateur, disrespectful treatment by MFC of myself and my childrens' time then pull the pin because the 8 year old has lost all interest and they are starting to bicker; get back home to have the wife ask the kids how many signatures they got on their footys to have both kids reply they don't barrack for us now and don't want to go this year. My kids and all the others there are the club's future. I only went as I got a club email and pumped my kids up about it last night - wouldn't have happened at Hawthorn training I can guarantee you that Sorry, but I don't give a stuff about today's training report...
