  1. Agreed. Has always been a player I've wanted to make it because of the way he goes about it.

  2. Getting married didn't do much for my footy career...

  3. Yes, he has had chances but he has also had setbacks like long term injuries and limited pre seasons. Since being delisted, he's been married, enjoyed a good pre season and done everything right during the practice matches and the early Casey games. He's clearly in line for elevation off the rookie list and if his form warrants, I don't see a reason why he doesn't warrant another chance.

  4. Jetta replaces Trengove on senior list Good on him. Looks like he's playing some good footy at the moment so hopefully he can take it up into the firsts if he gets a game. Best of luck to him with reviving his career.

  6. I said last week that we would lose to Carlton by 45 points. So this week i'm saying we will lose to Gold Coast by 45 points.

  7. Ratten got a lot out of our ordinary midfield and much more out of an ordinary Carlton. He is a much better coach than most give him credit for.

  8. I am a bit more optimistic about us going back to back after attending training yesterday, Roos seems to have finally instiilled confidence in what i would call the second tier players, Bail, Pedersen, Kent, Georgiou, Evans, Terlich etc, yesterday you could sense they were all 'up'......with all the leaders available displaying leadership on the field finally a sign we are going in the right direction-

  9. I like that Dawes got into him. It was low percentage kick that came off. "great goal son but next time pass it off to someone in a much better position". I agree with the scribes on JKH's pace - not particularly quick. I do not agree with them on agility - look at the highlight reel and from what we have seen on game days - he has wonderful dancing feet. You don't have to be rocket powered if you have good evasive skills and lateral movement - JKH has that.

  10. There is no fuss, that's why I like him. And a chance under Roos. Again, 'everyone has a clean slate, except for players I don't like/rate.'

  11. Because putting a number like that on it, doesn't matter how much the club denies it, it'll be quoted and taken as gospel by the footy media in general. And it'll give Barrett so much scope to throw up names that he can't possibly be wrong in the end. At different times he'll name about 5, with at least one spot in reserve in case he gets completely blindsided. He's full of shite, but you must admit he's pretty good at doing what he does. Talks absolute crap and it gets lapped up each week, leaving the masses gagging for more...

  12. Chris Dawes, JKH - we're going to need to employ a bouncer outside Roosy's office door soon.

  14. What a terrible thing to say. It can be anyone of 22 players who can make that tackle.

  16. I think it's true that we've been bashed around the head as a club like no other in recent history. In the space of a week we lose one of our leadership group and a 200cm power player who can ruck or go forward for good at 26 and another leader for a whole season when he should be in the prime of his career. I also just took it in my stride as if nothing can hurt the club any more. I think we've gotten to the stage where these things are galvanizing the club.

  17. Where the f... does he pull a list of 6 names from? How could anyone be positive that at season's end, Melbourne will put together "6 names"?! There might be 7 people worth talking to, but no... it's been decided in April that at some time in September, we'll write down "6 names." Jesus christ. Is this guy on crack? Seriously... Barrett... come on man. What an absolute plum.

  18. i reckon we have improved out of sight, could easily be 3 - 1 if we had one of our key forwards and a touch more luck, we are good enough to beat the suns and should back ourselves to win this game.

  19. JKH is a ripper, and it looks like we have nailed another late pick following on the tradition of draft steals like Dean Kent, Matt Jones and Tom McDonald to name a few Just need to get our 1ast round picks right from now on lol

  20. For those who wonder why Nev was rookied then elevated, he was in Casey's best 6 for the last 6 games of last season, including the finals they played in, BOG in first practice game for Casey this year then in best in 2nd and in the best 6 for the first 2 games of this year, so showing some form, spoke to him at training, feeling really good and super fit, been enjoying playing down at Casey...absolutely rapt he did the full pre season for the first time....able to finally show what he can do without worrying about coming back from injury or being underdone, body also more mature

  21. Re: the Jetta talk. I feel we've never really had a chance to see what he's capable of and that's why I'd be keen for him to be promoted to the senior list and given another chance. Remember clubs take mature age rookies every year and that's what Jetta is, it's just he's been at our club all this time and not a VFL club. A second chance would be massive motivation for someone in his position. I see no rush on bring Toumpas back and giving Salem a debut, both their times will come buts what's important is they be allowed to grow and develop without the spotlight and demands of long suffering fans on them.

  22. Yes. It's probably why they didn't take him.

  23. I'm not a prude. I think Moonshadow is right. I discuss some of the challenges that various patients can bring and make a point of hiding names, altering presenting details, ages, marital status, employment history, sometimes even gender, so that I can get the point across or use a real life example without revealing identifying features of the person. I think the decision about whether it is a "soft target" is, in all due respects, not relevant and not yours to make. It is the patient's. The nature of injury, timing, details etc are irrelevant to the decision to identify the patient. Once you start down that slope, it ends badly. While I love learning from the example Webber made, I would have learnt just as much without the name being released. I'd delete it (if not done already).

  24. May be true, however the point being its not OK for a medical professionals to disclose this type of info on the internet, assuming Webber is a physio. Actually, it's written into the Charter of Health Care Rights in Victoria. I'll leave it there.

  25. I really, really doubt that AC would be bothered by his physio talking about a foot injury he suffered 20 years ago.

  26. JKH reminds me very much of Aaron Davey from 2004-2006. There was just a hint in one interview that Davey is the player who he models his game on as he was one of his heroes as a kid. If you watch his run down tackles from behind and his pace onto the ball there are a lot of similarities.

  28. I think Dawes, Vince and Cross are perfect examples of why we shouldn't worry too much about who formally is or isn't in the leadership group. Nonetheless, if we're going to have one, they might as well be in it.

  31. As a Medico I know the diagnostic process is very inexact and that it takes time for many conditions to declare themselves. If a stress fracture was forming the outcome may well have been the same. A delay in diagnosis may make very little difference. Sometimes you just have to see what develops and only act when the picture is clear.

  33. He did the kick because of instinct, that's the way he has played all his junior days He got the spray because he did the instinctive kick when Dawes was free and he should have done the team thing Still allowed to do the instinctive things but will wear the consequenes if it goes wrong Dawes wants him at his feet front and centre

  34. I spoke to him at training this morning, it is like speaking to a 10 year veteran, leadership group material in the future I got an explanation on why he did the round the corner kick for the goal on Saturday Why he deserved the spray from Chris Dawes And how the 'new' forward line is working on getting a better understanding between thenm

  35. He's got something special about him for sure. Natural instincts.

  36. Stood watching the training with RGRS (who needs to harden up - cold?) As per the norm had a chat with a few Watts - he crouched down to have his photo taken with a young kid after he had finished training, that would have tested the hammy!...told me he just had a mild corkie Tyson - was actually shocked to see Carazzo come to him on Saturday, was told by coaches to just keep playing the way he has been told to, was pleased with his defenisve efforts Bail - said he was still working on his set shots was pleased to see the 'Watts' method work on Saturday JKH - said him and Dawesy had kissed and made up after Dawes' spray just before he kicked the goal, working on getting the understanding around the 'new' forward line Jetta - put his form down to being injury free and enjoying his footy down at Casey Terlich - for all the team pickers, reckons he is sweet for Sunday Trengove - most of what he said in his presser on the Club website, you can tell it is a mixture of relief and disappointment, relief because he had begun to doubt himself and of course disappointment for being out so long Viney - looking forward to Sunday, just wants 22 having a crack again "it's a simple game" Evans - complimented him on his all action sub appearance, said it was required if he wants to stay in the team Kent - absolutely no injury worries and is feeling the fittest he has been Chip asked me what I thought of him as a forward, I gave the right answer Georgiou - this bloke is so refreshing to talk to, asked him about his footy background a bit more, this is paraphrasing "never really thought of footy as a career, just progressed through the juniors at Norwood whilst at school and uni, then cracked a spot in the senior side and it sort of went from there,, only looked at maybe footy as a career in September last year" "doesn't think who he is matched up on, just another body" I think that is about it Somebody actually wanted to talk about walk whilst I was typing, cheek.

  37. JKH is mid-range pace - you can see it in his draft highlights reel - but you can also see him finding space almost at will. His big advantage is the speed of his decision making. He's taken three steps while an average player would still be making up their mind. As with Dawes - a good brain is hard to find.

  38. I get the feeling that sometimes it's more instincts of when to turn the burners on and when not. Watts as well was highly rated over 20m for his speed but it's fair to say we rarely see it, that said we are now seeing his agility tests coming true. I think JKH's instincts are what set him apart, he backs himself and has confidence in his decisions. The goal that combined him, Dawes, and Bail was all about that for all of them, they acted on their first instinct; Jay picked up the ball knowing he was going to get tackled so got himself into a position to give the handball off, Dawes acknowledged he was going to get tackled immediately so tapped it to Bail who backed himself to nail the goal. It was the sort of play that happens when players believe in themselves and each other.

  39. Wow. Just an observation, but there have been literally 1500 posts on this topic since I last visited and, from what I can tell, almost nothing has changed... Not being critical of anyone on here, just observing how this seems to be just going in circles...

  41. No, but I think Vince would have encouraged us to go after Riley, let us know Adelaide were planning to delist and rookie him, and had a word to Riley about coming to MFC rather than staying at Adelaide. I think that's fair to assume, and that is having an influence.

  44. I think this is a basic and unsophisticated concept. Sure, Jones has prospered under a variety of "poor" coaches. But clearly some players respond to those coaches, otherwise they'd never be in the position to be a senior coach. I believe some players responded to Bailey's "players' coach" style, while others responded better to Neeld's "disciplinarian" coaching style. Neither coach had the skills and style to reach and improve all players. Clearly Roos' approach is tailored and he is better at getting more out of most. And as for Jones, I think his personal style would see him flourish under any coach, to varying degrees. It may be ideal to demand the same of every player, but it's not realistic and won't get you results. A coach like Roos is smart enough to realise that.

  45. What is Roos going to say about Watts? Watts is talented, he has a lot of potential but very little of it has been unlocked so far. He was an important signing for the club. He was victimised by the previous coach. Of course Roos is going to pump him up and then get to work developing him. So far he's 1 good game, 2 just ok ones, 1 shocker. Not many have height, speed and the occasional perfect silky kick but outside mid who doesn't rack up many touches, doesn't win contested ball, doesn't tackle etc, they are a dime a dozen. Here's Nic Nat winning a game. Can you remember it? One man clearances, goals out of the ruck, perfect forward ruck taps, big marks. Right now due to form or injury or both he's a very average player. But he's had runs of form particularly in 2011 and 2012 where even with little on the stats sheets by marks or possessions he's been a very good player. No way is he worth 1mil per year. Yes his AA was pretty soft, I didn't agree with it. No way can you confidently say he's a future star as his development has stalled. But he's still got all that's needed to be an above average ruckman, he's already been that and the highlights package is just a bonus.

  46. Never forgotten Big Head Kernahan's comment a few years ago "We are Carlton @*%# the Rest Loving it even better than a buy one Big mac get another for free! Also loving the interference of Bruce Mathieson , magnificent soap opera of the highest order! Hope the whole place totally implodes!

  47. You are talking about a kid who has played less than 10 games, who has been thrown to the wolves in the hardest position physically on the ground. Very game when our ruck stocks are pretty average at best. Buckley's decision to get rid of Jolly and have faith in Grundy is short-term teething, long-term gain. Melbourne had a chance to follow a similar brave path, but invariably went for "the best team on paper for now". You will eat your words about Grundy.
