Well, Round 6 is over - and so is Baileys deadline for the current mainstays

Dean Bailey said that he will give the current group (ie those that have played all 6 games) to see what they have to offer the MFC before he makes some changes.

Well 6 rounds in, and they have had their chance, and failed miserably. I think now we will see the real Dean Bailey, and start to learn more about his plan and his blueprint for the future.

If Bailey is serious, then Russell Robertson will be sent to Sandy next week. Bruce will get a run there at some stage as well.

Miller and Jamar will never play seniors again.

There will be a lot of experimentation. Meesen, Maric and Valenti will all get a taste for it in the coming weeks. The MFC team after round 13 or 14 will be unrecognisable.

I look forward to watching it unfold.

My biggest concern is that we have nobody who can step up and replace those who don't deserve to play in the seniors.

That's what happens when you get rid of all of your depth players (and thank god we did, don't get me wrong). You are left with a top 22-25 and another 15 who are too young/raw to play league footy.

So maybe you get rid of Robbo and hopefully Bate is fit and can replace him.

Jamar, while he is probably the worst footballer ever, should play alongside PJ and/or Meesen for the rest of the season, because White is not going to be around next season.

You can bring in Valenti and drop Moloney, but all you're really doing is shuffling deck-chairs on the Titanic.

Of the other senior players, Junior and Bruce are going nowhere given they were made co-captains during the week, Green is actually playing well enough and Whelan is required when fit.

Oh and get it through your head, Miller is not going to get dropped!

I love JMAC, but surely hes playing on reputation at the moment.

Bruce won't go - got a feeling hes a Bailey favourite.

Miller if he refuses to use his presence he should be delisted... he should be the kinda bloke running off the line at CHF lining somone up EVERY CENTRE BOUNCE... NOT JUST 1 AT THE GEELONG GAME. (we kicked the first 3 goals after that)

No problems if he gets reported, in general play start him at FF and have him run through anyone that gets in his hole, Barry Hall has no more football skill then Brad Miller but was a top 5 player in the competition for awhile.

I can hear the AXE grinding as I write this.

Finals are a pipe dream, and the chances of us winning a few is looking bleak.

The chance to give kids a run is from now until round 22. If we are going to lose anyway, what do we gain by playing underperforming vets? (miller and co).

Messen doesnt deserve a run, he was grossly poor IMO when i watched him against a weak bendigo side. Valenti- promote him and see if he has the balls to cut it at the top level...he might suprise a few people!

Buckley, needs to come in. Has the pace to adapt at this level, just needs some time to get into the groove. CJ could even have a run. Maric can kick goals......our current forwardline cannot (pardon to Wonna, who has been a shining light for us this season)

Changes start now!

i seriously bet nothing will happen! its so melbourne like

Agree.

It's all set up for CC to say something that starts with "What I meant by that was..."

However, if they do it over 6 - 8 weeks that is fine but like YM, I want to see what product i'm buying next season.

Don't hold your breath.

Bailey is out of his depth, a loser. And he's gathered a bunch of loser/no coaches around him.

Coaching is not about 'empowering' players, its about COACHING players.

Such sage words...and they're Y_M's..lol.. Not much error in them either.

I dont think theres teh room for wholesale carnage re the eam . It will have to be more thoughtful and insightful regarding any changes but chnages there must be. To many players have been writing checks based upon their past and now the bondsman wants to cash up. Some will be found very strapped and unable to.

I diasagree with any ideas that its nothing but a shuffle of deckchairs. Sometimes its the combinations that need to be tried. Some are going to now feel the wrath thats dealt out to failures. I dont think it wil be dont with yelling and emotion.. just a clinical.. well son..its like this !!

I fully believe that Bailey had his own ideas about where some were but had to give them the opportunity to prove him wrong..and some to show his respect of belief. The honeymoon is over. Im sure Bailey is under no misaprehension that he really has all the cattle he needs. He just needed to know who really was what. It dumbfounds me that some are either that stupid or egotistcial to think they could play as they have and expect mercies.

It would be marvellous is some knife would sycthe through the team excising the incompetence and ushering in new bodies full of abilty overnight. it wont happen. There is still much of the year left to be suffered in pain.

Bailey announced there would be a review. I await it with anticipation, just not with any expectation of quick fixes.

A new coach has little control over form evaporations (Davey, Robbo, Neitz, White, Yze, Brock, Colin, Macca, and Wheatley) or poor skill errors (Jones, Batram, Miller, Jamar, Bell, Bruce, Green, and Moloney).

Nor can he be blamed for the list that, at the moment, looks extremely defective.

I will give him time, basically for the fact that we cannot afford to get rid of him.

Robbo's not playing well, no question. Some of his efforts today were infuriating. Is it a coincidence though, that his careerworst form has come with a new coach, whose gameplan ensures that the ball trickles into the forwardline like molasses? Good luck being a key forward in this team. You can hardly fault a guy who has built a 12-year career on leading, marking and scoring and is now asked in the twilight of his career to change completely from a scorer to a defensive hound.

There will be no axeing despite the sixth round being reached. I'd expect a light buffing with a medium grade sandpaper would be the most we should expect. That said there ought to be room made for Whelan, Bate and Newton (to provide a tall forward option, which was sadly lacking today).

i'm not sure if i blame robbo or miller for our performances. i wouldn't want to be a forward in our team with our delivery.

we'v got to do something about our flankers and midfielders tho

What we are seeing is what happens when a disciplinarian comes after an "empower-er".... rebellion.

every once in a while.. a little ray of enlightenment happens along !!

nice call Ted. this is exactly what it is.

No. Bailey can't lead, and can't coach. Full stop.

But Bailey claims to be an empowerer, to give players the opportunity to input, to EMPOWER!

Bailey..for those who just dont get it.. has allowed the pretenders to hang themselves. This season isnt about winnng any games really...never was. It was about wormign out who was worth keeping..and the laying of foundations for the way forward. There will be many more losses... but gradually some players will get it together. They will be added to for next year.

Not much else CAN happen this year as the personnel simply either arent there yet..or havent got enough miles in their legs.

Why are people expecting any real susccess this year.. and getting all upset that its not happening...its never been a realistic outcome for 08

Touche.

Too many posters are apologists for Bailey. (Sorry, 'Bails'.)

Why is it that some our our best youth players are playing for Sandy? ie bate, Newton, Buckley.

Bate is recovering from injury, Newton was suspended last week in the VFL, and Buckley is learning how to hit targets.

So Yze Magic, tell us what you actually *know* of the "real Dean Bailey" and his plan and blueprint for the future. Do you actually have anything concrete, like you know the guy, date his daughter, play golf with him? Or are you simply hoping for some Bailey magic?

What is the basis for your optimism? How do you know DB can actually coach at this level??

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
