says it all.

He's right

There needs to be a fire lit by the MFC so that the flames are unmistakable.

Otherwise our emblem might as well be Strawberry and Blueberry Blacmange !!

Absolutely correct! And why is it written about so often? Becuase it is absolutely correct! Until something is done about it, it will continue to be written until..... Remember the last club nobody hated? They were a team called Fitzroy!!!

i find jim main an arrogant [censored] but he is unfortunately right. The best way to attract more fans and to make other football fans hate you is to be succesful on the field

Obviously for the folks reading that article on Demonland, it's a case of the choir being preached to, but I'll comment on one thing only: His flippant remark about changing the jumper lost me. Changing the best guernsey in the league? That'll bring the people flocking through the turnstiles! Give me a break.

This is the biggest "QFT" I'm ever going to give....

QFT Jim Main. QFT!

Especially love his idea on changing the face and guernsey of the club. I say we completely disregard "Demons". Mascot's are out of date. Fix up the bland jumper (I'm waiting for traditionalists to flame me), give it flash, be stern, on and off the field and strive for success, don't just make a plan and hope for it.

I doubt you will ever hear anything new or revealing by the average AFL media hacks.

As for changing the jumper? Right.

You do realise "QFT" means "quoted for truth", right? So, you're supposed to quote what you think is true.

Agree RR, of course he's only sh*& stirring to support his main point that he believes, however much it pains him to say it ( I genuinely believes he takes no pleasure out of writing this article) no one gives a damn including Melbourne's own and that its time for someone (ANYONE!) to fire up.

There's nothing wrong with the guernsey or the mascot - it's the lack of urgency, direction and dare I say arrogance which let's us down over and over again. We just get pushed around - nobody loses as badly as we do - too nice, too soft - we haven't recruited a tough nut since Todd Viney or a player with the passion of Woey or Ox since I don't know when. THE TIME IS NOW

To a large degree I reckon you can blame the evolution of the game and the governing body (rules) for that.

AND, the fact that it's a job, a salary, playing sport for the money , no passion, no love for the jumper or what it represents. A huge percentage of AFL football sides are made up of this rubbish, that's why interstate clubs are such a force, because THEY represent something.

Whenever a club isn’t firing, there’s always a lack of interest. I remember a few years ago, we were touted as having the best skills in the game, and one of the more ‘exciting clubs’.

When you lose by 105 points.. no one cares. You're not a threat.

In my opinion, our guernsey is the best in the league. Bold design and great colours. I wouldn’t be too hasty about changing something that every Melbourne player has worn for the last 100 years to something that’ll probably date in 5 years. What would that change anyway? It’s completely superficial.

Cliche-ridden drivel delivered by a hack journo.

Nothing new apart from toying with the idea of changing the jumper. What a great move that would be with our club's heritage.

I for one embrace our stereotype. I love that we are modest, thoughtful and seemingly aloof. We have an air of superiority about us and a level of intelligence that the average Narre Warren living Collingwood supporter will never understand.

Let's not become toothless ignoramuses under the guise of being passionate.

In the 50s we did have great players, so did Richmond in the 70s, Carlton in the 80s. It's a different era. Nothing wrong with the way Lyon, Schwarz, jacovich, Farmer, Davey, Viney, Neitz, Robertson, Sean Charles, Whelan, Woewodin et al play(ed).

Our time will come, we just have to hang in there.

I think this year it has been written weekly.

l don't frickin' get it, l love this club to bits but l'm continually told that my clubs lack passion and l lack passion. l scream at the footy, l get into big arguments and some fights in the past. l was at that Sydney game 3 years ago, it was the worst game of football i've ever seen because of the swans negative gameplan. l was totally frickin' frustrated to the point of wanting to fight any scumbag swans supporter around me. l'm sick of all these media blowhards telling me l don't have passion for my club, frickin' tossers.

Since 1964 Every club apart from footscray and the Shockers have won a flag. Both Times we made the Big Day we were Murdered. As we all remember. After all this time our history is becoming Limp and Rusted. There are better things to do on a weekend than Be Heart Broken and [censored] off! Winners are Grinners.

Why did we not Own the Training Facility that Collingwood built. They got in under us-we were limp.

Our new CEO has to sharpen the Melbourne Teeth and fight otherwise we will not be the Melbourne Demons anymore.

We must win games to be vibrant.

Jim Main is Right-The Ball is in our Court otherwise we will be playing Fitzroy at their old home ground.....

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
