I have refrained from commenting negatively on Sundays game thus far and in so wo'nt. But a positive I did see was Bucks with the limited ops he had I liked what I saw, one of our only players who grabbed the ball and tried to get in into the centre corridor have'nt had many like that at MFC over the last few years good to see.

He was certainly one of the few to have any awareness of the part of the ground.. Nearly everyone else was hiding along the boundary!! !!!!!!!

Actually it was mainly the kids that wanted to put the ball down the guts !! funny that !!

He runs fast. That is all.

He is better than that.

You can see his talent is there, just hasn't found that ratio between his talent and his speed/awareness.

That's a great comment, not sure of you meant it to be funny or not though

Maybe it's just me, but watching the pre-season game vs the Roos, and the match last weekend, I've felt that at times Buckley makes a decision to concede possession of the ball when he and an opponent are around the same distance from the ball, rather than making every effort to take the ball himself.

That said, he has pace and tries to take the game on at times, which is good to see.

Not trying to be funny.

This was exactly the problem Daniel Bell had in his first 10-20 games at Melbourne, good call Demons32.

Lets hope Fizz can overcome the same issues, and go onto be a dominating wingman!

i can see buckley as the next *star* at melbourne...we need someone with pack bursting talent and judd like speed/strength and skill to add to our tough midfield of jones, mclean, mcdonald, sylvia and moloney. that is why i was hoping we would pick up rhys palmer at the draft but im sure morton will be great

I was getting a bit frustrated with him, he made some critical turnovers on Sunday. But then again name a player that didn't! I saw glimpses of potential so i take a little heart from that.

Posted

buckley looked alright. needs a lot of work on his disposal by foot. and perhaps needs to learn to take an earlier option, instead of always trying to take someone on. however, on sunday there were not always earlier options available to him...he was one of the few who actually tried to make some play, and he refused to handball sideways to a flat footed teammate. at least he looked to go forward.

Posted

Buckley is just trying to fit in with his senior players, he doesn't want to upset the leadership group by having better foot skills than them, although most under 12 players can hit more targets.

Posted

There were a number of times that Buckley was part of a contest and tehn stopped. What was stark was that Chance Bateman would just run off and often be in the nexty contest. Buckley makes lots of mistakes but he gets that ball and applies himself. I don't think he'll make it, but if he learns to keep running rather than doing a job and stopping, who knows?

Posted

Everytime he took a mark or got a free kick he wanted to play on straight away. Although he turned it over at least 2 or 3 times as a result of this, his idea was promising. When he got the ball in defence, we started moving and I actually became excited. His speed is very promising, I just hope his decision making can improve.

Bell has been shocking all year so far... you reckon Buckley can reach his lofty standards <_<

I think every player who got a touch turned it over on sunday. Buckley was no Robinson Crusoe in that department.

What so that means he's alright does it

Buckley made mistakes and needs to get harder at the ball but he was one of 2 maybe 3 players that tried to change the flow of the game in our direction. He isnt the sort of player you build a team around but he could turn out to be a very handy running link man somewhere down the track. Also, wasnt that his 7th game of his career?

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

    TRAINING: Thursday 9th January 2025

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
