Why dont we tell valenti to nominate for the draft (which he will) and pick him up with pick 43. We all knowhe can play

i dont know he can play!

he will struggle at afl level, was good when ward and pickett were the main focus at sandy but struggled in finals with attention! he will be a good vfl player! but maybe give him a chance at rookie!

Poor old VFL and the stigma it carries.

Remember, Priddis and Lynch were in the WAFL before WCE picked them up.

Westhoff aswell in the SANFL.

Give this blokes a go, can't be much worse than what C.Johnson has shown.

Also, he is behind Bell, Petterd, Whelan, Wheatley, Bode etc.

Maybe a change of club will give him a better crack.

I'd take pick 42 for CJ without hesitation. I wish the guy no ill, but he has shown little to suggest he will be an AFL standard player, and his trade value will be zero next year if not offloaded now.

Exactly

No hesitation

Then give Dean Bailey the oppourtunity to use pick 42 on the type of player he wants

FFS Jaded, if we trade him, Dean Bailey traded him - wake up and join the dots!

I have no issue with trading CJ, it's what we are allegedly trading him for that I'm not happy with!

I hope we get something better than a fourth round pick, as I think CJ's value at Melbourne is higher than that.

Isn't pick 43 in the third round not the fourth?

Isn't pick 43 in the third round not the fourth?

Conflicting reports that we're trading him for pick 50 something may have confused me.

43 is still a very speculative pick.

We gave Adelaide 37 for a ruckman whos played 2 games, and who we could have taken for nothing in the PSD.

I just don't think we're likely to pick anything better with 43. There's always a chance, but how often does a Bartram fall through the cracks these days?

1. CJ's done sfa

2. Your rating of CJ is based on the proposal that Dean Bailey can extract improvement

3. if Dean Bailey trades him for a 3rd rounder then that's what he thinks he is worth to us or less

Every year, every year there are players picked late in the draft that out perform early picks.

Maybe it is being earmarked for another trade.

CAC is a genius with late draft picks....

Rivers, Whelan, Bartram, Bruce, Newton and of course Davey in PSD

So I am actually a little excited about collecting all these picks, no matter how late they are in the draft

Can't disagree with point one.

I think we're all hoping that Bailey can extract improvement out of our players, otherwise why did we get him to the club?

As for point 3, I disagree with Bailey if he thinks that a 3rd round pick in the hand is better than CJ. Doesn't mean I won't support him, and I definitely won't cry myself to sleep over it.

I guess I see a lot of potential in CJ and given that we're persisting with less talented players who have been given more opportunities, it seems odd that we'd let CJ go for a low pick. We would get better picks for both Miller and Jamar.

Maybe Bailey is also of the belief that CJ is terribly soft.

I like to imagine CJ will be the next Demon late developer, like Carroll (not in team, then good average) or Bell (not in team, then good good).

From what I can gather he'll be competing for the spots vacated by Brown and Ward on the one hand and possibly TJ's on the other.

Actually, I know this is the wrong thread for this thought, but the TJ trade looks a lot more positive when you consider that it's not just pick 14, but also an opportunity for players like Buckley and CJ to find their way into the team.

We'll see what comes around.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
