Considering he is meant to be heading off to China next Monday, and participate in a personal development program with a group of other young players, I find it hard to believe he is now being traded from the club

http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/footy/com...5E19769,00.html

And an article on the MFC website today saying he was looking forward to 2008 and for better opportunites under Dean Bailey.

Might be a beat up this story!

l wouldn't be surprised if its Paul Johnson going to Saints

Sounds like crap. If Healy reckons we are giving up CJ, a player who Bailey obviously rates (we're taking him to China next week) for pick 42, he has his nose in the West Coast 'medical room'.

If CJ is going to the Saints then why on earth is the club publishing this stuff?

"I’m hoping to get a few more opportunities under the new coach. I want to have a big pre-season and go from there."

And you gotta love the conclusion -

“Last year our pre-season was more to do with run and carry. We focussed on that so much that we didn’t really get in to play the game and win the ball,” he said.

“Because of that we couldn’t get the ball inside 50 and our scoring opportunities were limited.”

I agree, it makes not a jot of sense. I will be livid if we only get pick 42 for him. I don't care that he hasn't been the unqualified success we all hope he will be at this stage, but pick 42 in a shallow draft is NOT ENOUGH. You hear me CAC? NOT ENOUGH!

who says its a shallow draft...how would u know. i honestly want to know. have u followed the under 18s? how many tac cup matches did u watch?

i heard it was an even draft, and after the first round it was even. if u draft well pick 42 could be useful.

Michael newton pick 43.

If Chris Johnson is traded Bailey obviously doesnt see him as part of our future.

Johnson has had opportunities, and is simply not afl standard. if we get anything for him we should snatch it.

we need picks to give bailey and CAC an opportunity to build our team.

Chris johnson is borderline delisting. i wouldnt be upset to see him go. pick 43 is more than fine

Would not be surprised with this deal. We'll use pick 43, which is the Saints 3rd pick, as a trade for Meesen. I've thought all along that CAC would get involved in a trade for a lower 3rd pick, as he stated that we'd offer Adelaide a 3rd round pick, but sees 37 as too high.

Redleg will be spewing.

Woah cool your engines turbo. Why don't you have a dip at everybody else who is saying the same damn thing? The general consensus amongst the recruiters and those involved is that the serious talent is at the very top end and it falls away pretty quickly after that; thats what we keep getting told by the media. I don't expect they've (the media) got much of a clue on the matter, but they would have the ability to speak with those who do, and there would be little for them to gain in hiding it from the public, since most recruiters would likely be of a similar opinion . If you have it on good authority that this is not the case, then I will happily defer to your source over the flogs in the media, but currently they are all most of us have to go on.

I am perfectly aware of the potential to pull a diamond from the rough, but is the smallish chance of that worth giving up CJ before Bailey has had a chance to work with him? It's not like Daniher gave him a fair crack. I would give him another year before taking pick 43 for him. Or pick 58, as might well be the case.

Evidently Bailey sees something in him; why in Gods name would he be part of the group that goes to China to undertake, amongst other things, a leadership course, otherwise? I doubt he would be included at the behest of another staff member.

Pick 43 has little to no value.

Given all the recent publicity and the fact that he's going to the China tour, I highly doubt we'll let him go.

Agreed.

Haha, love it.

as a saints fan i would be happy to get him.. could be a decent player for us if given time. i heard our pick 42 was what you will get in return.

I hope we wouldn't take that deal. Better than the pick 58 quoted on Demonology though :|

Fwiw, the CJ article on the MFC website seems to have disappeared. Is this a sign?

This is such ridiculousness, about the draft being shallow and all that.

I mean all drafts going back to the start would be comparable to each other.

It's just hard to tell what a 17 yr old will become in a few years.

Recruiters just trying to tell their bosses that the degree of difficulty in accurately assessing talent is huge.

Case in point: James Hird was a ballerina picked up at 70 something, there were plenty of people wrong then as he became one of the greatest players of all time.

Why would I spew? I think CJ is worth more but if it is a swap of CJ for Meesen well it seems to be worth a try. Meesen would appear to have more upside.

Why dont we tell valenti to nominate for the draft (which he will) and pick him up with pick 43. We all knowhe can play

Interesting isn't it.

Unfortunately Miller time is still up.

Sydney were very interested in Miller, but Bailey's preference was to keep him unless we got something special. Obviously Bailey feels there's something there to work with.

Miller's probably the most maligned player on the list (now Ward and Godders have gone) but his leadership and competitiveness shouldn't be easily dismissed.

If we can get Miller's head back to the days before Daniher neutered him (when he was getting rubbed out 3 times a year), an aggressive, but more mature Miller may yet be a decent player. I'm not convinced by him in any sense yet, but I do believe his confidence has been shot for about 2 years, and that is why he continues to fail. A new coach and a fresh start may yet make something of the man.

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res
