As I read that I felt like my current feelings are were being put onto paper.

The sad fact of the matter is, the fact he ONCE supported Melbourne now means nothing. He supports no one.

Collingwood have greater facilities and opportunities for him.

Reading that you would think that Jake had had a long and in depth conversation with Chris about what he wants and where he wants it.......

I honestly don't really care, about all the rampant speculation, depsite his accurate assessment of our current market position.

Of course the press don't think we have a shot, why would they when we are not given the same respect or fluff that the other, bigger, clubs get?

But at this point in time I doubt anyone who is paid to write or comment on the AFL have the first clue what Judd is going to do, and it must be killing them!!!

But it is always a safe bet to back the bigger, wealthier clubs in a situation you really know no details about  !!!

He was accurate and it just goes to show how much we need to chase Judd.

It hasn't changed my optimism though, not in the slightest.

Judd is not going to want to play on the Dome as has been pointed out.

Strike the bBlues and Essendon.

We are also in a position to compete with the blues regards draft picks if they hold onto their number one.

We have powerful people backing the club.

The administration is the best we have had in my life.

We can offer more than Colligwood would be prepared to give up and the Eagles are going to be enourmously reluctant to trade with them.

We just have to convince Chris that we are the best fit for him.

We can.

We will!

Agree. We hope!

I do agree with pretty much all he writes there, but the main fact is does Judd want to play for us, everything else meaningless without that fact.

We can.

We will!

Agree with all of that. The only part of me now that doubts we can and will pull this off now is the automatic 1% of doubt that is reserved for absolutely anything to do with this club. I think any Melbourne supporter knows that slight tug of doubt I'm talking about!

It kills me to read however im in 100% agreeance with him that Judd will not care that he barracked for us. It's going to hurt when he doesn't name us.

Fortunately for Melbourne, our sell to Judd is not solely dependent on his boyhood love of the Demons. We tick all the boxes, given that our new facilities will be up and going in 12 months. I don't believe his former support of the Dees is completely irrelevant at all though. Hopefully Garry and company can push the right buttons in their meeting, and awaken the lost Demon within. I still cling to the belief that this is what will push Melbourne over the line if we are to get Judd.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. There is absolutely NO reason for Chris Judd to be interested in us at all. None! What can we really offer him that the other clubs can't? And Jake Niall has put it all nicely into print like the proper Age cynic that he is.

So then. Why the hell is he still meeting with us at all?? It's because he's very interested in us, thats why. Bollocks to Jake Niall and his dismissing the sentimentallity of it. Because quite simply, what other reason could Judd have for wanting to waste his own time with us? He must still feel some allure to the Red and Blue. If Chris Judd was not seriously (and I mean seriously) considering joining the Melbourne Football Club, he would not want a bar of us. In fact he would be running in the opposite direction.

No doubt Niall is right in his (damning) assessment of the club. However, any speculation about Judd's preference is just that; pure speculation.

Collingwood and Opportunities. What a crock. Every club's got connections.

Eddie's done well with his brand to get people thinking that.

Hopefully Judd's smarter then that.

Lexus Centre is a problem but i'm just hoping Judd will put up with one dumbell until the new stadium's done.

Either that or we find a supporter who owns a fitness first. C'mon people.

It's all about the pitch. You can do it. Gardiner. You do this for a living. You've pulled some big big big clients for grey. Pull one for MFC.

Niall has basically put 2 and 2 together and come up with 5 as far as his assertion that Judd is leaning toward the filth goes. He's seen 'wants to play on the MCG' and 'wants premiership success in the not-too-distant future' and thought 'Collingwood'.

I will almost guarantee you that he is basing it on that. That's why he won't deal in absolutes. He says 'appears to'. Yeah right Jake. Well done. For once a Collingwood supporter might buy the Age, rather than the Hun.

Anyway... I'm off to the driving range. This is slowly driving me mad and I need to vent. :P:P

I hope on Monday Morning at 10:00am there is a press conference with Judd.

When he enters he is a demons polo shirt and demons cap and is flanked by Dean Bailey and Chris Connolly and Steve Harris and Paul Gardner.

Please God, make this happen.

I agree with all this

BTW, Gary Lyon never played for Collingwood and he has a pretty good job at channel 9 doesn't he?

Judd will go to Carlton. The cash will be too much to ignore. Just because he states it's not about the cash, doesn't mean it's not about the cash. Carlton can potentially offer him $7 million over 5 years and West Coast will also benefit heavily by the deal.

The other alternative is Collingwood. Better facilities, chance of playing finals. However for this to happen Collingwood will need to make a significant trade with other clubs to secure a high draft pick to deliver to West Coast. This could benefit us.

Like everyone here I have heard rumours being thrown around. But one I have heard is Judd to Collingwood which potentially benefits several other clubs including Melbourne.

Another point is, think of the instability Judd will cause at the club he goes to. There will need to be significant changes made to a playing list which will temporarily affect morale amongst the playing group. The only team this doesn't affect is Carlton who will trade drafts. Carlton has most to gain with little loss in the Judd saga.

Don't get me wrong i'd love him at the club but I don't think it's going to happen.

If he doesn't come to Melbourne the best case scenario is collingwood un-stabilise their team trading to obtain him and he breaks down first match.

Keep in mind Judd is more likely to make more money in property than he ever does in footy !! Assistance and mentoring in this area might interet him more :)

This is NOT just about footy!!!!

He actually said exactly that in his departing press conference earlier this week.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
