Sort of off topic . . .

Can anyone explain to me what is meant by the term "we need [insert player name] for his experience". Cos I have KFI what that means at Melbourne.

Early look at 2/3 of our Petracca haul.

Latrelle looking likely.

Exciting to see XT early but jeez it’s not ideal with no Bowey, Salem, CJ, et al.

Lamb to the you know what…

If the outs are Salem and Melksham, and the ins are Taylor and Jefferson, that will mean every first round pick since the flag is playing.

Unfortunately every single one of them has big question marks but at least we're developing kids.

We have a very solid bunch of kids coming through. What we need is to add 2 serious A Grade players to the mix. A mid and a (take your position pick)

Hopefully this is correct, Jeffo is a class above at Casey and with X.T deserves a gig Now!

We need another key back, seriously.

This could be a huge loss

Lions are getting back to their full team

and we are a bunch of kids

Yep. Have to agree. Hoping for the best but they bat very deep in the middle and our kids are just not up to it at moment plus our guys with 50 plus games are just not improving to be good/great players. Plenty of plodders.

It might be.

We aren’t a good team after all.

With 7 experienced players out it's hard to see a game-style that can win us the game. But you never know

This is the perfect game to experiment in terms of trying players in different positions

  • Windsor back to a wing (HFF ➡️ Wing for the centre ball ups)

  • XL as a loose man in defence (Wing ➡️ HBF for the centre ball ups

  • JVR to the backline has merit (if T-Mac is out)

  • Kentfield (or Jeffo) up forward

  • Moose as a 2nd ruck

  • Langford more midfield minutes

  • Lindsay on the other wing

  • Langdon maybe back

Haha DD, last week you were betting your house on the Dees. This week you are saying we are in for a big loss. I hope your forecasting is accurate again this week.

If you want any sense or insight, youve come to the wrong place my friend

Kentfield confirmed to not play this weekend

I think they should continue the development of the players where they are trying to develop their game.

Progress isn’t linear and they are going to have setbacks. Players don’t like to be thrown around - they can smell the desperation.

I think we should either play Petty as a full time back - no more swapping forward or be giving Adams another look. Make the permanent backs Disco, Petty and Lever with Howes as the 4th (height wise), then bring in TMac or Adams when needed, not playing as tall as we have. I love TMac, but I think at a minimum he should be rested after 2 or 3 games in the seniors and be the back-up, rather than the go too.

Partly cloudy, 19 degrees on Sunday arvo. I'm actually confident we'll put on a better show this week than last.

Of all the possible moves that could be made, I'd like to see XT get an easier time of it, first up

Windsor to a wing and Langford more so as a mid, appeals

The rest of it is just spitballing and talking points

Hard to know who gets picked. Some will be cherry ripe after their jog at Adelaide, and others might be fatigued. Think that’s how we should look at selections this year - if they are starting to tire, rest em!

It was not about what they wanted to do, but the complete lack of capability to run as required.

Was wondering what this little image was on the banner when the boys run out. Is it something for Max to punch as he leads the boys out or something else always been curious

Remember the days when the Brisbane Lions could not win on the MCG

Take me back......

Should be heaps fatigued from dropping off contests, applying no tackling pressure, allowing the opposition to have 100 more disposals and dob shots outside 50 with ease.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
