Pies MRO Strikes Again

Featured Replies

MRO Ex Pie Christian fines Ned Long for a forearm to the face of Oliver, OFF THE BALL.

All 4 guys on the Couch, including ex Pie Buckley, agree it is always at least a week suspension.

Continues the favoured treatment of Collingwood which has the least penalties of any team in the AFL.

I’d say it was a joke, but it actually isn’t funny, it’s just disgraceful administration of a major national sporting organisation.

It would tend to give support to those who consider the AFL and MRO as perhaps a bit corrupt.

The old adage or justice needing to appear to be done would have an institution claiming, even trumpeting integrity, to have an alternate MRO and Tribunal Chairman to consider cases involving the club that both of the existing officers are part of.

Aside from the FACT that eventually the buddy/mate attitudes within the hallowed halls of the AFL will come back to bite, don't ask me how, I've got a feeling that we have just witnessed. with one almighty backdown by the MRO, a pick and choose, laissez faire slap with a wet lettuce.

They ( the AFL) need a bloody good kick up the Khyber in my book.

i am actually surprised the other clubs aren’t complaining, as the statistics are damning, with Maynard at the top of the list.

The AFL is a joke, what do you expect. They would have to be one of not the most corrupt sports organisations in the world alongside FIFA and the IOC.

Why can't they just find lawyers who don't like footy? Always with giving jobs to mates and former players/staff.

They are pathetic.

Christian has always favoured Collingwood and it has gone on too far.

Meanwhile, conversely we have been such an easy target for the AFL/MRO over the years. Some notable examples I can think of, include:

  • ANB and/or maybe Chandler copping multiple weeks for falling forward in tackles - stited for concussion risk/outcomes

  • Steven May getting rubbed out running eyes for the ball and deemed not to have exercised enough care

Contrast any of those against Maynard and the bias is so clear.

The AFLs selective care about when players need to exercise care for their opponents is also damming. If you are running for the ball or tackling apparently you need to exercise care, but if you are going for a specky, thrusting your knees into the back/spine or head of an opponent is completely OK.

The other players that I feel have had a charmed life with the AFL tribunal are:

  • Darcy Moore

  • Tom Hawkins (Geelong nearly as much of a protected species as Collingwood). He actually admitted on the couch that he was something of a dirty player a few weeks back. Still remember that whirlybird arm he threw back while being tackled that broke bones in Steve May's face.

  • Marbior Chol - almost every week I see this guy recklessly throw his substantial weight and large frame around in a crude/clumbsy way that endangers others (similar to Collingwood and Geelong, Hawthorn are also an AFL favourite).

Michaell Christian should have been sacked several years ago.

100%. In fact they should make it a maximum period they can serve in the role, but he is deadset terrible.

That's a good suggestion , and that could work even on a club rotation basis.

Deadset terrible and lacking intelligence.

2025 MRP results.

390 charges. Average per club 21.6. Collingwood 9.

36 suspensions. Average 2 per club. Collingwood 1.

345 fines. Average 19 per club. Collingwood 7.

9 charges dismissed. 0.5 per club. Collingwood 1.

Youll get 2 weeks for that, Sidey would get nothing and Kozzie would get life.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
