POSTGAME: Rd 03 vs Carlton

Well done dees

Admit i was quick to call couple of our stars.

But against good sides 1/2 game of brilliant play won't cut it !!

2nd note- advertising post on demonland is #@$$

I’ve loved this great Club since my early childhood, which is a very, very long time ago! Premierships aside, this arvo was one of the most memorable, both for the agonisingly slow start, and the astounding comeback!

We played with unparalleled heart after quarter time, as if there’s mountain that’s too high …….. and the result is now in the record books.

If this is DEMON SPIRIT, then bring it on in spades!

Just a quick shout out to our cheer squad.

From the top of the Ponsford we heard you loud and clear, even when things weren't going the way we hoped.

Thanks for your contribution!

Suck a big one Cripps.

Strutting around like Grand Poobah in the first, trying to be a hero getting stuck in to Tholstrup early in the first when everything is going your way.

Nowhere to be seen in the second half you false hero. At least you got to see first hand what a real captain is capable of.

I understand he received the 3 votes today.

Harry Dean looks like his father (derogatory)

As per the pre game thread I agree:

Fritsch Lever Sparrow should be dropped

Long live the King!!

I'm loving our goal kicking accuracy this season so far

18.12 v the saints and 15.10 today a huge factor in us winning those games

Assuming Jiath misses some time it’ll be an interesting choice between Rivers & AMW to fill the vacancy down back

I’d love to know how many times over the last 10 years, Carlton have been up at half time only to go on to lose. 90% of their losses seem like they play out exactly the same way.

Shout out to Paddy Cross, that small fella was bringing every single high ball to the ground over Dean and Weiters in that final qtr. Great last qtr by him. It’s the little things that contribute without seeming like big moments. They always count!

I wonder if we would have won if not for Paddy kicking such an inspirational goal. Then forcing the ball to the ground for Fritsch to snap his. As you said, important moments.

Wow. My voice is gone. Went from one of the worst days at the footy to the best! Our midfield was non existent in the first quarter and then dominated completely after half time!

WTAF JUST HAPPENED!

DID THAT REALLY HAPPEN?!!

At halftime I was out having a ciggie with Mumma Frittata. I was crying and saying if I wasn’t in the cheer squad I’d bail in a heartbeat (I’ve been really unwell all week and shouldn’t have been off the sick couch). Mumma F told me to have faith, there’s still plenty of time, we might turn it around, etc. I smiled and nodded but was all the while thinking poor sweet Pauline, she’s about to be hit by the reality bus.

But then that happened. I still don’t know how we pulled that off but I don’t care, we [censored] did it!

Bad game good win, not sure how many other sides would let you back in like that, Dee’s really need to work on these first qtrs but it’s the end result that matters

I love this table because

2008 was a reward for being a proper stalwart and never giving up on a game early.

2021 existed. We all saw that or will forever say we did anyway.

2026 Well, let me tell you my day.

Morning trip to Sydney aquarium with my wife and 8-month old. I was worried he was too young to get much out of it but the little one was absolutely transfixed and glowing with joy the entire time. Wife much the same watching him be so happy.

Train replacement buses made a mess of our planning, so we got there late and arrived home late. But baby snoozed the whole way home. Super win.

But that all meant I missed the first half, so all I saw today was 14 goals 4 behinds in 60 minutes of play, against my brother's team if you don't mind.

Little Sam now remains undefeated in games and even quarters he has watched (aquarium first half this week, was still napping for the first quarter of the St Kilda game, and the Freo game wasn't broadcast up here).

Also - and this is important -

My baby son has learned to start dancing, bouncing, waving his scarf and grinning when he hears the Melbourne Football Club song.

Bliss.

After the first quarter where we were rabbleish response was phenomenal. Up there with the really great wins

Still turned the gameday thread into "we made a mistake letting Oliver" time and time again.

It was tiresome and ordinary mate.

Did Derogatory Dean play AFL too?

I'm really enjoying watching each game in isolation at the moment without looking at them in any larger context.

I think the true believers would have seen after last weeks game which in days gone by would have been a 100 point belter ,they still kept on going to make it a 40 point game ,of course Freo took their foot off the pedal ,there is bit of the old 87 about this lot HEY BALLS .

Interesting.

King mentioned in his postgame presser that Rivers was dropped for team balance, because he hasn’t been at his best, and also because of something he’s been dealing with physically that he said didn’t want to get into.

Indeed, on a wing opposite his half-brother, [censored] Dean.

I remember in the Grand Final, they thought Trac had broken the all times disposal record, then they went back and realised he had missed a handball, so removed a disposal from his stats…

Wonder if they will do the same for Patrick Cripps and acknowledge he has never handballed at AFL level

That was one of the best wins Ive ever seen

Kozzie was God like

Steele is an absolute ripper

Gawn is the Goat

Lever turned back the clock

Sparrow really showed something today.

Interesting that Riv went out and Sparrow had his best game with some more mid time.

You would think Riv needs to go back to half back. Easy swap for CJ. Interesting that King said he has been carrying an injury also
