PREGAME: Rd 03 vs Carlton

Featured Replies

In: McDonald, Heath, Moniz-Wakefield

Out: Turner, Jiath, Sparrow

So we're coming off a trip from Perth in 31 degree heat, yes we have an 8 day break playing a team that will be coming off an 18 day break🙄

Media narratives will be interesting on this one. The team that changed Vs the team that have gone all in with the same coach and team.

i would assume that amw surely needs another run around after a year out, but of course there's no vfl game for casey next week

at some point they're going to need to see if the max^2 can work or not

otherwise it's probably just...

OUT: turner
IN: plugger mac

...as there's nothing in reserve to call up at casey

adams looked a mile off it for casey today; admittedly i only saw a quarter, but he was regularly out-positioned and looked unaware of how to defend

i don't think kolt is big enough to take on cripps - we'll probably just let steele go head to head with him - so i would really like to see him go to walsh

they're both hard gut runners

Out L. PICKET, CULLY, both hopeless.

In MAC DONALD, AMW

Shaping up as a huge day for the club with Max Gawn set to play in his 250th game and potentially TMac (coming in for Disco) also set to play his 250th game.

This is a must win. We owe Carlton big time.

I'd rather start without a tag, we need better defensive buy in across the board and we need the 3 on ballers we do have at any stage to be providing ball winning and attacking drive too.

The loser will be a bottom 4 club for sure. Lock it in Eddy. Despite CJ being quick, I don't think he is going to be up to AFL standard as a defender. We are now looking like swiss cheese

full of holes.

no, as if kolt doesn't play as a tagger then he should be back at casey; can't have both he and sparrow having zero impact as half-forwards - at least if he's curtailing a mid for the oppo he has some positive effect on the play

the 'travel' that cj did was absolutely hilarious - just jogging BACKWARDS into the middle of the d50 to give away a simple shot at goal, when not bouncing it under zero pressure

he has no game awareness

I'd be happy to give Kolt a run through half forward and the wing and open up the on ball time for Culley and Langford to see if those guys can get their hands on the ball.

Could even swap him to half back and promote Linsday to the wing if the game needs that.

Need to see Harvey Langford starting in the middle from first bounce/toss up.

Just please get CJ out, he seemed like he had some good moments but overall he made me cringe most of the time. I guess that's one decent game vs Saints and one shocker vs Freo...maybe try him again?

Would be keen to see Langford be less [censored] this week.

Also not sure about Trelly, he was pretty awful this game and cost us. He's brand new though really, so we're expecting a lot, but maybe he isn't ready.

I don't mind just strapping in for the ride though, ups and downs, let's be honest there will likely be more downs this year but so long as you can see where its headed and no one gets too sad about it.

AMW 30 disposals at 90% is a lock. TMac for Turner and Heath for someone, not sure who.

One good game doesn’t make a lock

For a growing number of you; when Jiath is finally dropped as the whipping boy of the loudest nuffies - who will be to blame for the next 8 goal qtr?

We. Are. A. Bad. Team.

Our best players are kids. We don’t have enough proven talent. Deal with it.

I think Culley is being played a little out of position, he didn't have a lot of it against the Saints but every touch was very impactful. Would be keen to see him play more minutes in the middle and see what he can do.

CJ did a silly play where he ran too far but was solid otherwise I thought.

I think we are a better side with Melksham in it if he is fit.

I wouldn’t pick Heath. We should only play one ruck.

Latrelle needs to practice running at the goal and kicking a drop punt from 45m. You can’t plan to walk it in every time.

I want Rivers to play back and Lindsay on a wing.

Yes but also no

Our 2026 best players are our veterans - Gawn, Salem, Langdon standing out

Our kids are promising, but a lot of work to do

TMac for Turner.

I’d consider Heath, but not necessarily this week vs Carlton.

I’d prefer Lindsay up the ground more and AMW coming in may help with that. Latrelle is fun but also not ready IMO for the pace of AFL level football, so I’d make that swap.
