Mammoth last quarters by Maxy, Steele and Sharp of all players!

What a way to start the King era!

What a win, but more importantly what a new enjoyable game, 18 goals, fast movement.

Funny how fast movement to the forwards gives them space, and Rooter kicks 6.

out with the old and in with the new

That was thoroughly enjoyable. some excitement for a change

Maxy was a beast

And well done fitness staff. we were able to run the game out against a team with a game under their belt

great way to start the King era

Go dees

Kingball is fun 🔴🔵

Wildcard…here we come!!!

awesome to knock-off our bogey team first round!!

King-ball beats Ross's Moneyball!!

A game that could be the making of Sharp

Payback is sweet.

I think Sharpe is a keeper.

Roo has arrived.

Max just keeps on giving.

A game that could be the making of Sharpy

AMAZING!!!

Perfect start. Sure you could nitpick some stuff, like defence (a little shaky), some guys not really involved here and there, but what's the point? First game of the season and we came out hungry. We persisted and we took down a team that really fancied themselves (Jack Sinclair's HT comments were odd, really made it seem like they were the goliath here).

Truth is, you can buy a midfield, but you can't buy class. And we outclassed them when it mattered. Saints might need to throw another $10m to become relevant. Still not a destination club, unless the destination is irrelevance.

Anyhoo, ROO!!! MASSIVE. Gawny got better, great hands. But Windsor was electric. Sharp had some awesome moments at the end in particular. Culley might actually take mark of the year and just generally awesome. Mihocek got better as it went on. Steele was solid.

Lots to love, long live the King!!!

ngl, had tears in my eyes singing the song. Something felt absolutely monumental about that win and the celebrations were different. Like a weight has been lifted from our shoulders knowing this new era and gamestyle has truely begun. And seeing King up in the box jubilant was awesome. Harry [censored] Sharp

Great win, effort there all day but FFS

Some of you should be embarrassed with your comments on the game day thread, I’ll give you a tip Rd 1 next year we’ll also be a little rusty.

Max take a bow

Huge difference. Iced out a game, 18.12 on the scoreboard, 20 marks inside 50.

Culley and Sharp stood up, Max had 4 minutes rest the entire game which Is unbelievable. 6 for Roo.

The team looked happy!!!!!

Footy is fun again 😭

Well done Kingy and well done lads!!

That has to be one of the best neutral games I’ve ever seen. And we actually found a way not to butcher it and play smart footy at the death so it wasn’t just a honorable loss. Seen enough of them. Steven King is the real deal. Seeing him lose his [censored] at Fritsch’s goal nearly brought a tear to my eye.

And the more said about Max Gawn the better. Not human.

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Saturday Night’s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourne’s memorable premiership triumph.
