Both Clarry and Hogan are slow and seem unprepared for modern ping pong footy…

🤭

don't agree re Hogan. He is not slow and probably does more km's than Oliver in a game. Please don't lump him in with Oliver. I was at a GWS Swans practice game a couple of weeks ago and spent my time watching Oliver. I reported he was always 30m behind the play. He is slow and looks unfit by his performance that evening. He looks no different to what we saw the last couple of years.

Oliver is rubbish and has been since 2023.

Even Kingsley started him on the bench in the last quarter lol

absolutely! and the glazing he copped last week was embarrassing. He wasn't even BOG last week. He has been bathed by multiple opponents this week

Enjoying those amazingly high training standards Clayton?

The Bont is probably the best player in the comp over the past decade. Consistently brilliant.

I assume he has 2-3 Brownlows?

media will ignore the average Oliver game but talk up Trac beating up on the Eagles

Is Oscar baker injured. Just saw stat's and he started well but low game time?

Not injured, just a fringe player.

Nice to see him doing well but the recognition he’s getting in this thread is a bit over the top. This is his 5th year on their list and he’s yet to establish a spot. I’ll be surprised if he’s not in and out of their side this year too.

Their fans turn up regardless, all Melbourne based clubs request a home game against them for the gate takings. Clubs that don’t have the G as their home ground still request to play them at the G because of more ticket sales. Until other clubs fans step up nothing will change.

You are mistaking quantity for quality. Collingwood have very poor attendance rates 'per fan' and drop away more than any other club in poor seasons. There's just a whole lot of the little buggers. That's what happens when you share condoms.

Doggies look great. Oliver has become a shockingly overpaid, lazy footballer. He refuses to do any serious two way running. I’d suggest Kingsley will be ripping him a new one soon enough.

Brad Scott’s post match interview was interesting

Admitting his team is nowhere near the likes of Hawthorn - who snuck into 8th position last year.

They get worse every year, no decent kids developing.

I love it but i’d be furious at Scott’s attitude if I was a fan. Giving up after round 1

Just a massive shame we didn’t trade him to the Cats at the end of 2024 when they were going to give us a future and pay a million of his wage 🤦‍♂️

Brads 4th year of making excuses. I'm surprised he's lasted this long with a notoriously impatient fan base.

To be fair their list is rubbish, although I don't mind their draft last year. Shame Dodoro is no longer there, they may actually improve their list over the next few years.

future first *

Freo should win this fairly comfortably based on talent

Freo looking quick and skillful. Cats again looking 2nd rate.

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Saturday Night’s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourne’s memorable premiership triumph.

The compromised AFL fixture will get another test this week with the first lot of teams getting a bye after only two matches. • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
