The training reports on this site provide some information about them, not sure why youโ€™ve started a new thread?

Well, and I know there is an โ€˜Introductionsโ€™ topic in the General forum that few seem to frequent, starting this topic is not a bad way to introduce yourself to the group, as a relatively new or infrequent poster. It is also a place to condense commentary on new players at the club, only; which saves readers the need to wade through a lot of non related information in the training threads.

You expect everyone to scroll through literally thousands of posts from the probably 30-40 training sessions?

This new thread is great as it cuts to the chase for anyone new who hasnโ€™t followed along, and only talks about the new players.

Unsure how this thread somehow has you offside. Surely you have better things to concern yourself with.

When I went down last week - Steele looked like the best kick in the team.

Either a good sign

OR A REALLY BAD SIGN

We now have some great kicks rpfc so that is definitely a great sign, I really rate Steele.

I was reading Coates League , Team of the Year I think and noticed that Xavier Taylor, Riley Onley, Thomas Mathews and Jonah Walker all featured in the team I was looking at. We recruited three of them and now Casey have recruited Jonah Walker. But back to the subject matter๐Ÿ˜ Taylor has shown plenty so far and all track watches seem to concur that he is going to be a gun. Tommy Mathews has been recovering from a PCL but sounds like he is getting close to full fitness which we are all looking forward to. Whereas we havenโ€™t heard a lot about Riley so far, he is an interesting player as he has good height and pace for a potential midfielder.

DZ - I love you as much as one anonymous niche sport fan forum poster on the internet thatโ€™s probably not a bot as much as the next but we donโ€™t have โ€˜some great kicksโ€™ in the teamโ€ฆ

We didnโ€™t think that was important and now it is more important than ever.

It'll be interesting to track Matthew's progress vs Talor Byrne who looked very handy on available footage, but ended up going quite late in the draft (Pick 45 Carlton)

Thanks rpfc but I beg to differ, Kozzie, May, Bowey, Salem, Windsor, Langford, Lindsay, Taylor, Latrelle Pickett, Steele, possibly Culley and Mathews is highly touted if he makes the grade.

I imagine Mathewโ€™sโ€™ eyes light up when he sees Xavier Taylor on the burst exiting the backline with dash.

Reckon weโ€™ve got a great haul of new players to the club.

Latrelle and Kozzieโ€ฆ

His name is Oscar Berry and he's going bald.

And he is going OK at training too. He is an interesting one to watch at the few training sessions I have been to. He doesnโ€™t miss much, his kicks hit targets, he collects loose ground balls cleanly every time and he is a one grab mark. He has reasonable pace and agility for 193 cm. No idea how he goes in heavy traffic or if he can take a contested pack mark but I suspect he might have a very good year at Casey in 2026. At present I donโ€™t see any stand out weapons that would have in the firsts ahead of Howes, Adams etc. But one I will be keeping a watch on.

He is indeed receding.

I feel his pain, as the horse shoe is starting to take over the top of my once lustrous mane.

Ouch.

True.

But ouch.

Something in the 2x5-letters name? Harry Petty saying hello.

Wonder when the club will release time lines on player returns, Iโ€™d love to see how far away they are expected with their injuries (Matthews etc)

Bailey Humphrey is looking fantastic and is in great spirits. Just told me theres only 180 days left until he's a Dee. He's keen I'll give him that.

Yeah same. Youโ€™d reckon the week leading into the first set of praccy matches? In particular Mathewโ€™s timeline.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

  • REPORT: Richmond

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.
