Gold Coast double up games: Geelong , Brisbane, Hawthorn, St Kilda, Giants and Melbourne

This is good

They can't beat GWS in a fit. A potential double loss.

Hawthorn will beat them in Launceston. Likewise Geelong at GMHBA

They're appalling against Brisbane at the GABBA, and are at risk of losing to Brisbane twice if the Lions are in a mood down at PFS.

The new look St Kilda are an absolute show against the Suns to end the season at Marvel. St Kilda will have 38,000 screaming fans willing them over the line for a wild card birth.

We will likely lose to GC twice due to the midfield disparity, but emotions will be running high on Easter Sunday with Trac so you never know.

It's not out of the question they go 13-10 and lose the wild card final, but unfortunately they have Hardwick steering the ship.

Going to be an interesting DR. I don’t hate the Suns like I did with Freo.

I’ll prob watch a decent amount of the Suns games. Will be keeping a close eye to see how Bailey Humphrey plays and also hoping the brand continues with his goal kicking woes.

Suns will continue to lose good players over the coming season as they can’t afford to keep all that talent on the list.

As well as BH, King and possibly Walter’s ( more so if Jamarra can hold down a spot)could be on the move next season.

All makes for an interesting death ride.

Funny thing is, if Gold Coast are anticipating losing Ben King, then they'll be death riding themselves because obviously he'd get them an additional first round pick in FA compensation.

They're going to B. Tank King?

Given a penchant for munching on stadium grass pregame, I'll hazard a guess that the Brownlow Medalist stuck his finger somewhere he should have?

For those who are quite partial to a death ride, Rowell couldn’t have broken his finger at a worse time.

Whilst he could be missed against Geelong in opening round, they have a laughable 3 weeks after with WC at home, Richmond away and then the bye.

No doubt he’ll be fresh and ready to go for our game in round 4.

Suns missing Rowell, Anderson, King and Collins.

They will be fine.

This is the death riding thread, not the supporting one Dazzle

Jobbers

I enjoy the death ride. It gives me 2 games per round where I have an interest.

Assumptions are that GC performs well this season.

They said that about Freo too.

Top 10 pick coming our way. You read it here.

While we're on the topic of the Suns..

There is absolutely no way Jamarra is even in their best 26. Jed Walters would be ahead of him by a mile.

Looks completely out of touch and has barely gotten near it tonight.

Needs to spend a good 5 weeks straight in the VFL.

Suns are a top 4 team. I’d be very surprised, but delighted, if they don’t make finals

Isn’t Walters just bang average as well at this point?

Suns not top 4 lock in by any stretch.

I approve of the tone of this thread and am warmed by the melancholy that resides in my fellow demonlander’s hearts for other teams. Long live the death ride!

Note I say this after seeing JUH running around in a practice match, must admit to feeling bloody sorry for the doggies, that must burn as much as Trac/Oliver etc.

I fear this isn’t going to be a fun death ride 😢

However, on the off chance it is, I’m torn as to whether seeing Dimma fail or seeing Melbourne getting a high draft pick will be the better spoil? 😀

  • PREGAME: Gold Coast

The Demons are back at the MCG for the second week in a row. They face the Suns off a 15 day break without their prized recruit and former Demon champion Christian Petracca. This will be a massive test for the Demons who will be facing a genuine Premiership contender. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
