We've decided to split the Christian Petracca & Clayton Oliver Trade Thread. For posterity you can read that now closed thread here: https://demonland.com/forums/topic/61260-christian-petracca-and-clayton-oliver-in-2026/

Premiership Norm Smith Medalist Christian Petracca has nominated the Gold Coast as his club of choice to be traded to.

Wait … what.. is Trac going?

he has nominated the Suns. The trade still needs to be negotiated between the clubs so not a done deal yet

At least the Oliver thread can get back on Trac

So this is not a ‘Claytons’ thread?

I’ll see myself out.

If the Sun really want him then they'll offer a good deal. They have lots of picks and players to get the deal done, as their pipeline will mean what they trade can be replaced.

I’ve heard that this thread was created at the request of Christian, due to him not wanting to share one with Oliver.

@Demonland

Would you like to lock the joint thread to avoid lots of repetition with these and their respective player review threads.

i'm normally not inclined to pick up what the drop is putting down, but this does feel to be on 'brand' to use the term that christian petracca reportedly does not like

I think we can declare that Christian and/or Bella were the ones leaking information to the media, in particular, to Tom Morris.

haha YES

Ben Ainsworth is exploring his options, maybe a chance to be part of the Petracca deal?

Isn't this fun.... once a little bit of thread comes adrift... suddenly everything starts coming undone.

Talk about Flinders Street all change !!

Not just the Dees looking to reset.

Monday morning might be a bit busy...

( for those brave enough to watch the trains wrecking over the weekend... enjoy 😉 )

Pick 7 and a B grader in Ainsworth might be the best we can hope for.

23 goals in 24 games is a bit 'meh' for someone that resides in the forward line.

Do they still have that Draft show on TV that they try to keep a few deals back for.

We could be big in that hour or so.

Could do wonders building the Brand

Barbecued Bugs on the Beach with a dash of Pernod perhaps

Melbourne have held talks with Clayton Oliver and they’ve laid out where he fits in under Steve King’s vision and been frank about expectations. Oliver is still under contract for five years, but the door is open if he wants to explore his options elsewhere.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.
