U must be kidding, he will have a STELLAR year and we will have a dozen eggs on our faces, King has a LOT to answer for! We are paying around 650 K of his salary to play elsewhere!! How typically Melbourne!

Blah blah blah

Don’t forget he’s acted like a 10yo boy for the last 3 years & treated us & the club like rubbish

Get over it!!!!!

It's been a great journey but Clarrie ain't a Demon no more.

Do us all a favour WJ and shut this thread down.

So you don't have to read comments you don't like ? Don't open the thread. Or cope better.

I can't abide censorship.

Pity that you denigrate a champion of this ckub

You don’t pay 700K a year for a ‘champion’ to play at another club.

I wouldn't put the word 'champion', next to his name on this year's performance.

For Clayton to not even say Goodbye to the Demon Supporters, in any way, I consider to be very poor form

The Club has obviously looked after him, beyond the usual boundaries for a number of years, for a very average return, since signing the long contract

But Jack Steele is an excellent replacement..

One day Clarry will regret how he left the MFC

The simple fact is that Clarry's time with us was like a pendulum.

It started out super positive, eventually swung to super negative and sadly stayed there.

On the field he put in some great performances and was a key member of the flag-winning team, but off the field his conduct became increasingly damaging to himself and the club.

My final verdict: a flawed champion.

Still can't believe the mad King (Aerys II) got rid of him for nothing 🤬

Hey Clarry - the orange looks good on you. Dare I say it; it matches your hair.

Maybe you can go get a tan on Manly, Bondi or Coogee, but perhaps Cronulla is more your style 😉.

Keep keeping on Tiger, but I hope the Kings Demons smash the Giants next season.

P.S. give 'The Brand' a good uppercut if you come up against him.

I wouldn't count on it.

(But who knows ...)

Ridiculous post. Clarrie was a champion of the club he played more than just last season. You don’t win the coaches award twice and a b&f in a premiership year unless you are a champion.

The chemistry between Carrie and Petracca had obviously run out last season and even though they were both fit it took a massive toll on us

They are both greats of the club but when you listen to a number of Gawn’s interviews it’s clear he is in Clarries corner.

I’ll back Gawn over any player manager and I know a few. Ricky Nixon doesn’t speak kindly of some of top 10 players he managed and he pretty much commercialised player management in the AFL.

Clarrie won us the only premiership any of us born after 1964 have seen. Champion is probably under rating him.

Hnmm yes, I can possibly agree to this!

Firstly, he'll be venerated once his career is over. Right now he wears opposition colours.

Secondly, like anyone, he's only owed the truth. The poster you're responding to didn't denigrate him, he denigrated himself.

A weak club put up with him for too long.

No, the team won us the premiership. He played a part, but so did many, many others.

Will the maggots build him up and run the risk, or pick on him and run the risk? Give him the free kicks and votes he deserved?

I reckon it could be popcorn.

Plus you get to hang it on the AFL and MEDIA and Maggots.

He was my all time favourite player but I have to agree. In the end he broke his own heart and so broke the supporters hearts.

He had to go, but seeing him skinny & fit for GWS has [censored] me off. MFC babied him through years of questionable behaiour and dropping standards. When he hits good form for GWS, and i suspect he will, I will be spewing

But you're happy to pay 700k for him to play in the reserves?

the new Sheriff in town laid out the ground rules and CO said 'I'm off'

Says it all for me. He has let us down repeatedly in the past 2 years. What's changed that is going to make hime play better?

I feel the same. If he played really well next year it would be one of the more surprising things I've ever seen in footy, not to mention a huge slap in the face to the Demons.

I think it might have been @Ghostwriter (sorry if I've got that wrong) who said Oliver had said out loud at some point that he felt the game had become too fast for him. That's very much the impression I've got over the last few years. He can still win contested footy but when the ball starts pinging around, he labours.

There was a huge amount of talk at the start of last season about how fit he looked and his season turned out to be completely unremarkable. I think that'll happen again.

I thought this was poor, could still thank the fans in a statement.
The crowd got around him a few times in season 2025.
I know he's hurt but its disappointing.

AND we host GWS in Alice Springs in 2026, so assume we play them in NSW in 2027, might be a whilst before he's in front of us at the G again.

Love clarry but I couldn’t give a stuff if he wins two Brownlows and makes AA every year until retirement. It was not working anymore at our club and it was time to move on.

The guy couldn’t even thank the fans for all the support over the years. Steele would have been upset also but still found the time to thank the club and supporters. Shows the maturity difference.

We need leadership to guide the new generation coming through. I reckon Jack Steele is a big upgrade from that perspective

Don’t disagree, has been my favourite player for 200 games

I haven’t disrespected him in the slightest compared to how he’s treated the club of late

I’ll now support the players we now have instead of sounding like an old broken record
