he looks like an inside midfielder to me, which is the role he plays at vfl level

for mine, there are clear concerns over his speed and his skills

his attitude and intent look excellent

To do what his instinct wants to do he needs to be that little bit stronger and that little bit fitter.

'Needs a good preseason' is a cliche but Tholstrup is emblematic of just how much more we should hope for and demand from our 2nd to 4th year players going into 2026.

If they catch that energy as a group, we go big and player movement is all just blah blah blah blah.

Based on what he's shown at AFL level, I truly struggle to see him on an AFL post the expiration of his current contract. I'll say it again, I find this draft selection one of the more baffling ones we've made recently.

He's young, I'll give him that and potentially, it's not an insurmountable mountain to climb; but it's heading that way. We'll see what King has in store for him.

I think he has had a good talking to at his exit interview. performance unacceptable on and off the field. Big preseason needed.

'Personality' hire due to a mullet and speed dealer sunnies who hasn't come on in terms of his AFL career...

Let's see how he reacts to the advice given at his exit interview. He might turn it all around. Let's hope so!

Think a clean slate with King may help.
Also hopefully he can get some clear positional direction from the coaching staff.

Then in the back half of the year, leads the Casey midfield, breaking tackles, getting clearances, setting up goals. But because he has a mullet, he must not work hard at all?

Maybe someone needs to have a word with him to go find a club where supporters are willing to accept that a human being can be who they are, and still train hard and play good football. I would hate to be the child or employee of half the people on this thread - your self-confidence would be shot and you'd have no chance at being able to make it at anything. There is critical analysis about a player's flaws and areas of improvement, but calling out their dress sense as an example of them not taking their job seriously is low.

Has attributes - many in the power or explosivity category - that if they translate to AFL made him dangerous. But question marks over whether he would be able to translate them.

To me he doesn't seem to read the play and react quite well enough. He is a bit flat footed and reactive, rather than anticipating and being on the move. Maybe this can be developed?

Agree he is being played out of position at AFL level, so it's hard to assess.

Not all players are guns immediately, part of the joy of football is watching them grow and develop into their potential (or not).

Talk about precious. Straight talking is exactly what he needs as hundreds of better footballers than him can attest. If you gonna bring the bling you gotta be able to back it up.

As to tearing it up at Casey , not sure about that. At the moment he is just a high draft pick with potential.

Think this is a key point to any sports player, not all development is linear.

The way he was managed this year was a disgrace. Came into the firsts without any fitness or form to warrant selection.

Club completely stuffed his year.

This is exactly the issue! As I said in another thread a few days ago, the club have been deeply disappointed with Tholstrup both on and off field this year.

It’s now time for him to justify the faith the club’s showed in him.

Hopefully he can stay fit & have a good pre season.

Ive said on other threads and the picture leading this shows thay his muscle development is not as pronounced as players playing a similar role. Get him in the gym and build the strength and bulk hell be ok. Hes still a kid.

Agree with this. He has a good list of attributes, but his decision making in pressure moments is suspect. Flat footed and reactive describes him well. However, a lot of players don't get it together until their 3rd season so with a full preseason, a new coach, and hopefully positional development he can emerge into a quality player.

His run of games at Casey late in the VFL season showed some great signs of his inside mid abilities. With Viney ageing, I hope the Kolt develops quickly.

We gave up a lot for him.. snd so far it has been a poor return.

Needs to shed some weight and get lighter on his feet. Looked overweight and it was evidently clear that he should not have been playing senior footy right from the get go this year.

Incredibly poor management.

Looked better last year than this year.

Struggling to see what point of difference he brings as an AFL player picked in the first round. I can see it with Langford, Windsor and to a lesser extent XL. I just can't with this guy.
