I think both those forward lines are structure and personnel wise far more effective than ours.

True. But even in the best team a forward cannot stop a miskick to a defender in space nor do anything with a shot at goal that's out of reach and off target.

I did think it was a poor look at the time but this last month has surely launched a rocket up his backside

He'll be 34 next season. A bit late for the leopard to change his spots, especially when there are no real consequences. He plays out his last year at Casey, pockets his $900K, and sails into the sunset.

But heh, good luck to him.

It's King's side now. Who knows how it's going to turn out, but at least the club (and supporters) won't die wondering.

Really excited for 2026.

Steven King's coaching style for the Melbourne Football Club (MFC) aims to create an aggressive, expressive, and attacking game with more freedom in possession, while building on the team's strong foundation in defense and contest. His philosophy is to empower players to be more daring in attack and to play with a uniquely "Melbourne" brand of football, a balance of fun, freedom, and competitiveness that taps into the club's premiership experience.

  • Player empowerment:

King wants to give players more ownership and freedom in possession, moving beyond the team's established strengths in defense and contest structure.

  • Attacking football:

He aims to be more aggressive in attack, challenge opponents more, and score more consistently.

  • Aggression and physicality:

He intends to tap into the team's past success by emphasizing physicality and aggression.

  • Freedom and expression:

King wants to create a fun, stimulating environment that allows players to express themselves on the ball.

  • Unique brand:

He aims to develop a distinct style of play that is uniquely "Melbourne" and adaptable to the current players' skill sets

He hasn't been a problem child his whole career. He'll be fine.

Beggars can't be choosers, if we want to take the arrogant approach then sure play him at Casey all year. Otherwise we might as well give him a shot.

I remember reading something about him growing up with an alcoholic step father father who use to do some crazy [censored] to his mum which he was exposed to as a child.

His real father walked out on the family when he was only a toddler.

I dont think he had the greatest of up bringing to be fair.

That's absolutely horrible.
