In general.

Iโ€™m no expert but he is overrated imo. Not a great mark, can obviously spoil but no star

Loved ANB. He doesn't deserve to have to endure three straight set exits in a row. Imagine how he is feeling right now.

Come back to us any time you wish Alex. We would welcome you back with open arms and gratitude.

Donโ€™t miss the 57% efficiency..miss the locker influence though

So the four preliminary finalists this year:

  1. Geelong - 14 prelims in the last 19 years, 4 flags

  2. Brisbane - 5 prelims in the last 6 years, 1 flag

  3. Collingwood - 10 prelims in the last 19 years, 2 flags

  4. Hawthorn - 7 prelims in the last 18 years, 4 flags

They have also won 14 of the last 24 flags (soon to be 15 of the last 25).

Not the most exciting, novel or motivating final four.

Suns are toast

Possibly the most stale final four in modern times. Footy is in a pretty dire place at the moment. Probably more rule changes to come and ruin the game further. It's getting really tough to keep watching at this point.

Yep, I'm completely switching off the AFLM from this point onwards. At least I have the luxury of living in Sydney, so I won't be confronted with any news about the barfworthy at worst, or boring at best, AFLM prelims and granny.

i guess this means we're all lions supporters for the next 2 weeks

It would be nice to see the big O get a crack at a GF this year after hurting his shoulder last year & really getting behind his mates & supporting them well.

Definitely not a fairytale premiership on the docket this year from the list youโ€™ve provided.

Although Hawthorn have come along way since the first 2 rounds of 2023 when they lost by a combined 140 points and had a percentage of 40.

In the scheme of things the Hawks are the only ones who have done it without help of father/sons farms Cotton on academies etc.

In a comp where it's a matter of inches they all help.

Only watched the first half but Lions definitely played a corridor game tonight. Good for them. Wish we had the players who could do the same

Boring finals series so far. Only one competitive final out of 6 played.

Go lions next week

I like the Suns, but thank heavens itโ€™s not them with the responsibility to knock Collingwood off next week. I was hoping for a convincing Lions win, since they can probably beat Collingwood, but I donโ€™t think Gold Coast would have.

Their rise up the ladder coincided with the arrival of Dear.

Tonight's the first time I've really watched out for Sam Flanders and I like what I see.

He would make us a better side. Diddly doodly do it, Demons.

His dyed mo is a slight worry, but get him for his name if nothing else.

Is anyone else having trouble with the kits being too similar, especially with the long range views?

Another AFL own goal.

Dearโ€™s played 9 games this year. Didnโ€™t play last night through injury.

Not sure heโ€™s all that integral to what theyโ€™re doing.

Yep.

And then look at the upcoming FA/trade period:

  1. Brisbane will get Draper and Allen for no cost, and are in the running to get Ridley

  2. Geelong seems to be the likely landing spot for Rowan Marshall

  3. Hawthorn is the likely landing spot for Zach Merrett

Canโ€™t see any of them not being in contention again next year (Collingwood Iโ€™m a touch less sure of given their age).

HQs 3 favourite Vic teams all make the prelims. 7 also very happy their pre-season hype team Hawthorn are there. ๐Ÿคฎ๐Ÿคฎ๐Ÿคฎ

We could have potentially put a halt to the worst 4 possible prelim matchups.

If we didnโ€™t choke and beat the Pies, Adelaide vs GWS first QF and one would make the prelim and potentially get the week off and make the GF. That would have left Pies and Hawks to kill each other in the Elimination final.

Not a guarantee, but at least there was a chance of having a watchable Grand Final.

Honestly, what a choke by Melbourne and Adelaide to breathe new life into the Pies. They were on their knees and both clubs played them back into form.

26 games since he arrived last year, 35 goals, 66 percent game time, 3.7 percent score involvements. His stats are similar Pickett's. Makes him pretty integral in my view.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourneโ€™s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time atย Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: โ€œIs Melbourne even at the ground?โ€ Moments later, as Carltonโ€™s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demonsโ€™ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.ย
