I'd almost tear my membership up for that - get rid of clarry to get the slimy Jordan de gropey into our club.

I thought we were trying to reset our culture and look at mids in the appropriate age demographic.

Its been reported in the media since lunch time..

Yes it is, just saw that. My bad.

Not a rumour but a revenge attack. Say we take pick 7 & 8 that gets us into the first round. I say at 7 we put a bid on every GCS academy player of whom I think there are 3, if it hasn’t already been done and make them pay the maximum in points seeing they wanted so many of our picks for extra points.

Made sense having a swing at the kid from Moe.

Culturally confusing having a look at Jordan De Goey.

Surely this is just the club having a lend of the media.

I would personally be okay with getting De Goey in, if the price isn’t too much. He’s on a two-year deal and probably has 2 years of decent footy left in him, I think he’s less of a ratbag nowadays and can help be a stop gap with the future kids coming in.

Unfortunately this is the new era of the AFL, players can just tantrum their way out of contracts to the contender of their choice.

I have sympathy for Merrett as the Footy Department and Club haven't upheld their end of the bargain to develop a capable list and provide a stable environment for players. There isn't much more he could have done and he only has one career.

I really rate De Goey as a player but I'd much prefer we take the pick/s into the draft instead.

Injuries have been a concern over his career and I don't see that improving now that he's nearly 30. He's only played more than 20 games 4 times in his 11 year career (2 of which Collingwood played an extra 3-4 games in finals).

I wouldn't bother bringing in anyone over 25 years old unless they bring leadership to a line that is lacking, e.g. our forward line with Checkers. Save our picks to draft or trade in elite 18 - 23 year old talent and build a war chest to chase one or two free agents over the next few years.

Would be VERY happy with this if we end up with 7 and 8 for trac. Give one of them to the Pies.

Say what you want about De Goey, but he has matured enormously and is a game changer.

I say no

'Enough is enough': have Collingwood and the AFL acted to...

Jordan De Goey has faced several charges of violence against women during his AFL career, but was not stood down by his club until last weekend.

If we're moving heaven and earth to rid ourselves of Claz, I can't see how King would put up with JDG.

No more DHs please

I think people are confusing the exit of Petracca and Oliver as being a ‘culture‘ decision.

I think in part it’s culture but I’d argue it’s much more to do with their ball use and speed.

This is why De Goey makes sense for 3-4 years.

If we were trying to get the younger version of DeGoey on big cash, it sort of makes sense to get the OG version on a reduced fee.

The person may be questionable, his ability and position is definitely a weakness of ours.

Although, my gut feel would still be to lean towards youth instead.

I think you were up too early today, SF

Push out Clarry and send off Trac to give the young kids midfield minutes, to just recruit De Goey? does not compute

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
