PA are to blame as they want players to be able to move whilst in contract and still retain the same $$ which is BS, so their managers are saying sign a long term deal and if you want to move you can, the AFL should fix this by having 3 year max contracts.

I think you should be able to have longer contracts, however, if the player wants to move mid contract then there should be a penalty. For example, if the new club isn’t willing to pay the current contracted salary, and if the current club won’t cover the difference and the player won’t take a cut to make it work - ie if the $ distance between player , destination club and current club is so vast as to be irresolvable - then the player doesn’t move. Now I accept that may be difficult culturally or practically (ie unhappy player stuck at club) but if that is the case then the onus is on the player to eat the difference.

Im telling you now, Amiss is not a forward to build your hopes around. I think JVR is twice the player he is. Just ask any Freo player - He is Weidemann MK2.

I hope im wrong - genuinely like the bloke - but i know what i see and what i see reminds me a lot of the Weid.

We have a young Essendon supporter who we’re currently trying to lure across from the dark side 😁 He came along to one match as a guest of Duxy who’s a stalwart of the DA.

Of course I listened to and consoled him but - and I’m going straight to hell for this - all the while I’m thinking awesome this’ll get him over the line. 🤭

If you added about 8cm to Fritsch he would have had Amiss' career. Instead he had to work on developing his game sense and hair for years in the VFL. Amiss clearly plateaued and even dropped off a bit this year but at 22, with the basics pretty good, I'd back him to incrementally improve his game as an opposition-infuriating 3rd tall. I'd we got him it would be for ten years and the last five would be his best. And he definitely would be playing a substantial role in our 2028 premiership.

As for Ghostwriter's Essendon project, you can get double points towards football Elysium; scoring once for creating a Demon and again for removing a Bomber.

You don't even have to promise him endless victories, just a club and community which sincerely experiences the high and lows instead of faking... everything... Just everything.

Good call.

And we have numerous players who might or might not become passable second or third talls.

is there any actual rumour re amiss or is this just demonland wishful thinking?

i am curious as to what flagmantle are going to do - i personally don't think they can go into 2026 with all of jackson, darcy, treacy, voss, and amiss as part of their ruck + tall forward structure

not to mention that reidy has already declared he wants to go to the baggers, while they have another couple of ruck / forward options on their list as well

if dogga and darcy are staying, then something else has to give in that set-up

Amiss is a local.

Yes WA, grew up in Busselton.

We don’t want Darcy, given Max.

I badly wanted Treacy thrown into the LJ deal, before he had played more than a few games and he and Voss seem very settled now.

I am still disappointed we never even mentioned Treacy in the deal.

Georgiadis much more likely target than Amiss

23 year old who kicked 58 goals this season. He's Port's number 1 forward, young, and is contracted for another two seasons after signing extension. He would cost us draft currency we don't have, and that's if he was even interested.

We've tried before and been rejected. No chance this happens this year sadly.

Clubs should just own contracts. If a player signs for 5 years the club owns their contract and can keep them or trade them wherever they can get the best deal. Players should not have to agree to trades when in contract.

Players have Free Agency and can hold clubs hostage with trade demands to preferred clubs even when wanting to return interstate due to home sickness, clubs should have some power when players are in contract. Long contracts give players security as they will get paid regardless of where they play but they are anchors for clubs especially if players request a trade mid-contract.

The Crows need Merrett more than the Hawks.

They should have a go at him and he would get his finals team wish and get out of Melbourne and avoid some heat as well.

Crows need speed

If Merrett leaves Essendon perhaps we can off load Oliver or a direct swap play we need to throw in gold plated stake Knives ( 2nd rounder)

We're not off loading Oliver.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
