I'd give Viney a pass. The others nup.

jack viney kick

he should be told to just handball it off

Shocking turn overs. Could be a lot further behind but having a crack.

Well, 10 minutes in, I was ready to switch it off such was the effort but then we clicked.

Dogs poor at the back, any attack looks like a goal

Trac amd Oliver are their usual selves having zero influence. $3M per year for $2 output.

I knew today would bank entirely on how well Disco, Rivers and Salem played. Their closing and defensive awareness so far has been great.

We have lost it so far with our turnovers in the middle of the ground. Viney, Petracca, Oliver all with zero impact. It really is anyone's guess how we have even managed to win games with these three stinking it up so badly, so consistently.

Good contest so far though.

very shaky start but we've steadied and are right in this game now

hopefully we can keep this up. the pace has been unrelenting

Our polish is still a bit off but we are already looking to move the ball with much more speed and dare.

I wonder why...

Can't fault the effort, but same old same old when it comes to disposals and turnovers.

Still, not blown out of the water which given the way the Dogs are playing, is something.

Forward line looking almost the best it has all year, but getting cut up around the stoppages.

And the other half is Fully Mental !!

Does that make it 25% mental in total? 😁

Oh FFS, just leave it. Ridiculous.

If we can even clearance and get some territory we'll win this. The dogs defence is woeful.

They can’t go deep with this lack of defensive pressure. It’s a bunch of band aids behind the ball for them. Koz should light this up with the space we have in the 50.

Hard to get used to Trac and Clarry not playing on the ball. I like it, it’s just strange to see

Massive shift in the past month or so

Great strength and goal from Culley, but Langdon's fumble preceding it is rage inducing.

And if we don't do something about our stoppage set up, allowing the Bulldogs to run and spread outnumbering us, this could turn nasty. We are doing well on the inside but getting thrashed on the spread.

Looking very clean when we think before act going into F50.

Max is a freak.

Honestly dont care about turnovers, stoppages whatever

We're playing aggressively through corridor, taking dangerous options

Just want to see some free flowing footy today

That is complete rubbish. Who has on the rose coloured glasses now…

Two clear holding frees, to Oliver and then Langdon, prior to Culley's goal not paid.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
