Chaplin coaching.

We have had the Reverend … now the Chaplin !!!

Given the career profile of caretaker coaches at the MFC he’d have to be a right Charlie.

So… no change then

Disappointing. If I knew I was coach for only 3 weeks I’d go absolutely wild.

Kosi in the ruck. McVee to FF. Max Gawn on the wing.

It’s maybe why they haven’t called me about the coaching job yet 😬

Don’t call us, we will call you!

time to move them on at year's end

Probably, but also how do you drop guys off the back of a 15 goal win

What a DEESGRACE if Jeffo does get a gig, Why did he NOT play last week to build his confidence?? Oh I forgot, Simon was coach last week!

Rest anyone under a cloud, but Club should have the attitude of treating the next three weeks like a finals series and try and go into next year with some momentum.

I want the new coach to have some balls and not play Petty forward. I don’t want a Goody clone who gifts his favourites games.

One thing you blokes can bet on is that there will be at least four prospective Ex Coaches watching this game with interest.

It will be interesting to see who is in the stands running an eye over our cattle and how they are grazing.

If I was calling the shots on the broadcast I would have a couple of extra cameras scanning the crowd for coaching faces taking notes.

You heard Maxy on triple M yesterday. The players will be up for this game.

and remember, they don't have Goody to shield them now. they don't have goody to take the blame

if i was a player, I'd want to show the powers that be that I'm worth my place on the list. there are 3 weeks remaining to do so

this will not be a blow out. I can't see us losing by more than 15 points. and i won't be surprised if we win.

So much bull [censored] and negativity from supporters, living in Geelong I thought cats fans were quick to kick the boots in!!

If anyone hasn't heard Max's triple M interview from the other day, have a listen - absolute class act. There's alot for this side to play for now even amid change. Players proving there worth for a new coach being at the dees or somewhere else. Any game day issues from the past can now be reset and no doubt there will now be players and potential coaches watching on with invested interest in Sundays game.

I agree. Think.this could be a very interesting game. The Doggies will be set but we now have that "unknown " factor. It could go pear shaped but i don't think it will. Pups might have their work cut out. All expectations are on them.

Why the hell aren't they up for every single game

overpaid and unaccountable

Perhaps Goodwin covered this weakness in the team who perhaps chose when to be up or not

We already play enough soccer at training !!

Should we transfer to A- League !!

Yawn, another underwhelming week at selection.

To be honest, I'm surprised they haven't dropped Sharp and replaced him with Spargo or Tholstrup - swapping those guys around seems to be the extent of the selectors' creativity this year.

Probably says a lot about assistants that are left from Goodwin era, group of same thinkers

new coach, new coaching panel, new ideas, new era, hopefully !!!

Campbell in… will they rest Max? Wow that’ll be a big, avoidable cluster.

On MMM, Maxy said he told Goody on Monday that he (Max) should play on Darcy this weekend.

Didn't Max play a first quarter on Geelong's Tom Hawkins at one time?? I recall it confused the Geelong offence.

Seems like he had the opportunity to coacht the last 3 games and chose not too

Chaplin got a free hit for the last 3 games,do we win them, who cares,i hoping he goes against the norm.either Max rucks the whole game or bring in another ruck, leave Roo playing forward.Bailey has 3 games to prove he is afl standard.Viney to be put on the injury list,Petracca to play forward.midfield rotations of Oliver,Pickett,Rivers Bowie,Bailey and McVee and Petty to play down back and bring in Adams, just a thought

This is Chaplin's audition for any future coaching gig. Please don't be a Goody clone. Try something new and different and out of the box. I would love to put a dent in some of these final's fancies hopes.

Yeah, you're spot on. Most were expecting 4-5 changes after a 14 goal win.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturday’s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFL’s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
