Steven May is guilty of not being able to predict to the millisecond the trajectory of an oval ball in motion.

Thats it.

Probably didn't help that the fix was in and the AFL scumbags and Boyz club were to have their pound of flesh.

The game is corrupt.

Every player not going to know if they can touch each other soon, no tackling, marking contests.

May as well make the ball out of foam in case it hits someone on accident and they get concussed

We know what this is really about.

The AFL is being sued for $1billion by former players.

They are trying to show they are doing everything to stop concussion and in the process destroying the game.

Appeal and win.

100%

We absolutely need to go full 80s football brawls with the Filth in the last round, get as many of them outed for the finals as possible, go all out war on these FN protected species. I want blood.

I know it’s not the point but he’ll only be genuinely missed for the Dogs game.

He can’t play St Kilda irrespective of the suspension and lord help Goodwin if we can’t beat West Coast without May.

Is this really necessary right now??!!!!!

I reckon that's me about done.

In what world does this outcome happen if a Geelong, Collingwood or Carlton player had this done this to a MFC player?

They have ch it all over our club again.

I think the players Association needs to come out and say our players now can’t play the game, as any collision and injury is a suspension, unless you are a Collingwood player of course.

If you watch the replay May’s left leg is in mid air when the Carlton player gets the ball. When contact occurs his left leg is grounded but the right leg is still mid air - I defy anyone to be able to “slowdown” in the one stride…. the tribunal finding is an absolute joke. We must appeal.

It’s hard to watch this farce week after week.

The AFL is beyond inconsistent, it’s a bloody disgrace. Three hours of dissecting a moment of honest play, and somehow they come up with a 3 week ban. But if the jumper is the right colour, it’s a fine or nothing at all.

It’s not just incompetence it reeks of favouritism. And it’s pushing real supporters away.

I don't agree with 3 weeks, I would've accepted 2 weeks as a football act that had an unfortunate result. But it's moments like this that make you infuriated with others *cough Maynard* getting off. If May doesn't contest the ball he gets labelled soft and a squib by the media and fans, as well as getting a stern word from the coaches. He had to contest it, he had eyes only for the ball, he was a fraction late.

I'm taking the positive from this though, we need to start planning for life after May and this HAS to be the moment the coaches return Petty to his rightful spot in defence.

Except if someone is concussed by a knee to the back of the head in a marking contest?

Under this train of thought, TDK should’ve got two weeks then.

Sufficient time to slow down? is that a joke?

he was attacking the ball

how fast should he be moving?

So May slows and attacks the ball at half pace, waits for the Carlton player to easily pick it up uncontested and walk it in for an easy goal.

We'd have every comentator in the land saying Melbourne are playing 'bruse free football'.

What's the other saying in footy - 'you've got to go when it's your turn to go'.

Let's get serious every AFL coach and playing group would be expecting May to give that his best effort at winning the football.

AFL - GET F [censored]. You have just proven what a biased rubbish joke of a ruling body you are. MFC has to use what ever means they can to appeal and/protest this ruling that they can - to start with they should be asking that Tom De Koning also be sighted for recklessly injuring Steve May.

I reckon the fact that we are not in contention for finals may have factored in as well.

100% it did! As did the fact he is not in Brownlow contention.

Collingwood were illegitimate premiers in 2023. If they win again this year, they will be illegitimate again. People on here can call me a whinger, I don't give a [censored]. This isn't a sport anymore - it's a fixed spectacle. It's basically WWE sports entertainment level production.

This is exactly how I see it now. Aren't we suckers for still giving a [censored]?

We might appeal but this is Melbourne.. not Carlscum or Rottingwood . We aren't of the clan ;)

This was decided the night of the game after a few phone calls when Christian 💩 himself.

Yes Red, we know what this is really about.

I did some research and assumed Adrian Anderson was successful in JVR’s appeal against the Suns in 2023.

Nope. He was unsuccessful at the original tribunal case. Another lawyer got him off at the appeals hearing.

The bloke’s a complete failure. And we’re a complete failure for continuing to appoint him.

And the club continues to fail by employing him

As disappointed as this decision is and how it defies logic, I / we expected no less from the AFL joke of a system. They asked for 3 weeks and no matter what the argument and acknowledging that it wasn’t a bump Steven May still got his 3 weeks. Where is the Justice……..!!!

Melbourne gets screwed on and off the field..

The system in this comic relief organisation is broken.

I also am very angry with the Club for allowing us to be the continual punch bag of the AFL with the Season Draw with Draft Selection, with tonight's and other Tribunal decision and many other, what seems to be slanted, aspects to the AFL framework.

That’s me done won’t be renewing my membership after this year the AFL is so clearly corrupt it’s just sad now, you just know a Collingwood player will do the same thing next week and won’t be cited, unfortunately the love I have for the MFC just no longer trumps the hatred I have for the game

“Disco” took his time (four seasons) but the mid-season draftee has been a shining light of Melbourne's campaign, improving to become a versatile option at either end of the ground. He has great marking skills which allows him to play as a marking target up forward or an intercepting defender down back.

The skipper delivered another outstanding season, leading the team from the front, participating in every game, and earning club champion honours, while also securing an equal record eighth All-Australian blazer as a ruckman.  Max Gawn is arguably the greatest exponent of ruck skills in the history of the game; an exceptional leader who has guided the club to a premiership, through the challenging times that followed, and now into the next phase of its storied history.
