Putting aside him having an interrupted preseason, I think Kolt needs to spend more time on ball to see the best of him

To me he shapes as a mid fwd who has a 50/50 split

He has speed and is a good penetrating kick, but his decision making and ball winning has been poor this year

Hopefully a full preseason and more time on ball - either at Casey or at AFL level - will show us whether he can make it long term

He is a battler imo

Looks for contact which is good but offers nothing else

Does he think he is better than he is or does he think he is good? If it's the latter, I'm all for it! Self-belief is lacking in our squad!

He looks more suited to defence than forward. He should be taking Rivers defensive role next year. Rivs needs to be on ball. Kolt and Sparrow play a similar role, Sparrow plays it better

Very ordinary today. And footage of body language did not look great after being subbed, and seemed to mouthing something about Harry. May be wrong, but of all names Harry is actually quite easily to lip read. He just seems totally lost in the big league. Hope he finds it quick.

He was playing right in front of me on the outer wing and he looked lost and devoid of any sort of confidence.

It's alarming where this improvement will come from along with Jefferson who looks completely out of his depth, especially with those one handed attempts at marking.

🙉🤦

He was inches away from a breakout earlier this year. I think that if that came to fruition and he kicked 4.0 that day and not 0.3 and one out on the full, the confidence that he can play at this level would be there. We've got plenty of time with him, lets just see how he develops. It is not like there is anyone at Casey who wants his spot in the 22.

There were several moments in the Adelaide game where we made poor decisions going forward (chin, JVR etc) - though Kolts transgression was to absolutely spill the ball or not get control of it. It seems like he was too nervous, or, just not good enough. You hope that he works hard to pay back the pick we invested in him.

If we're having a go at players based on nothing footage like that then we may as well pack up shop. He's a 19 year old who's just been benched and his team is losing after fighting hard all day. I've seen far far worse from senior players, including Gawn, every week.

Kolt's not setting the world on fire, but let's not attack his character as a person over nothing.

Really poor behavior on this forum recently!

Other than "moral high horsery" what else do you hold a degree in? It looked like he was maybe being petulant when being dragged. Are we not allowed to discuss that?

Similar trajectory to Nibbler I reckon, if I remember correctly he (Nibbler) was in and out for a few years before he finally found his niche and if we are being honest at times looked like he wasn’t going to make it.

Don’t believe Kolt’s had a full pre- season yet either. Maybe won’t be an ‘A-grader’, but strikes me as sometime who will play his role week in week out when he finds his groove.

The only difference is that Nibbs was getting a lot of ball in the 2's...

Kolt needs to play mid at Casey and start racking up the numbers.

Difference with Nibbler though is that he use to consistently dominate at Casey racking up big numbers. Everyone could see that ANB had the talent, just needed the opportunity.

Even at VFL level Tholstrup has struggled this year and no way dominated to deserve a call up. I haven't seen anything at VFL levelto suggest he'll be a solid 200 game player at the elite level.

He'll need to not only have a attitude adjustment over the off season but also come back looking trimmed and fit.

The comparisons to Neal Bullen are interesting.

People forget we made ANB learn at Casey for the best part of 3 or 4 years until he was absolutely banging the door down and we were all screaming for him to be selected.

You don't need to do this with all kids - some are more ready than others, but we simply don't have the integrity at selection or long term thinking to do this anymore. I miss how the club was run in those days when you had faith they were making calls with the long term in mind.

The flipside is Laurie, who is arguably showing more at VFL level than ANB ever did and still can't be selected in his natural position. We've given the guy zero chance to succeed relative to the opportunities we've afforded the Kolt so far. You could argue we have a need for forwards with presence, but right now I think we have a clear need for smaller mids with smarts too.

It may be too early in his career to make firm assessments BUT at this stage, other than being an enthusiastic on field celebrator, I have seen very little to impress. Seems to not have confidence in his own ability which may be justified.

What a loads of bollocks, he and milkshake are the only 2 putting in in the forward line, Kozzie is a superstar, he and Max are the only ones we’ve got, Turner is getting up there

Agree.

My heart is in my mouth every time the ball is in the vicinity of Kolt. My expectation of him doing something effective in the contest or with the ball is next to zero.

I don't have that feeling with XL and I most certainly don't have it with Langford.

I think he gets dropped this week.

From afar he has an overestimated opinion of himself and his place in the team. It can be both a bad thing and a good thing depending on how he improves. I thought it in ANB first few years and we know how he turned out.

I think you might have misread Kolt for Koz?

Do you think his draft position alone explains this teetring on the edge of selection without the obvious form to warrant it? Or do you think the FD see something there that isn't perhaps obvious to the average punter?

Or perhaps the FD are wishing and hoping.

Over rated. His performance at the top level does not justify the number of games he has played at senior level. He has however been treated like Lever, he missed a lot of the pre season with injury then straight into the side. Result poor games.

Hmmmm. Ummmm. He is a good clapper, cheerer and fist pumper.

Thankfully we can look forward to two more years of this. Exhilarating stuff!

Failed to chase 3 times in the second quarter that I can see. Looks really lazy and slow.

Sub him out now & for the rest of the season, he’s not up to it

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
