In case you forgot, Casey is in the middle of a four game winning streak. After two Saturday night games played on neutral territory, they move on to People First Stadium, Carrara where they were pantsed by the Gold Coast Suns VFL last year.

This time itโ€™s an early curtain raiser to the AFL game.IMG_1189.jpeg

People First Stadium,

Sounds like the name you'd give to a stadium in China or the old Soviet Union.

It's had more names than hot dinners (6 by last count)

That's my Saturday sorted.

I'm actually loving no AFL on Saturday afternoons. I much prefer watching Casey/Dees than Freo v Saints or Gold Coast v North or other substandard games. And right now, there are a lot of our younger listed players who are finding form which is encouraging.

A senior game at 9:35am??

What are they, under 12's?

Bizarre scheduling.

Its Smithys BASKET CASE VFL agreed Shocking 9.30 sheesh

Iโ€™ll be at this match cheering the Casey boys on. Straight from the airport to the ground, but will miss the first quarter since itโ€™s such an early start time. The best part of this is that I get to see two wins for the price of one! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Blame the AFL for that one. People are desperate to watch a decent curtain raiser before AFL games, then they play them so early they finish more than hour before the seniors play.

17 AFL Dees listed. Powerful line up. Only missing Spargo , Johnson & Sestan.

6 Casey listed - Deakyn Smith, Baldi, Hardie, Bonner, Sruk and Craven. Unfortunately Cross is injured as he has been very good and kicked crucial goals

Tough game actually as the VFL Suns hold a good record at home but expect Casey to get the win.

If Lever plays I'll be amazed/disappointed.

Similar but not quite as strong on Windsor

of course theyโ€™ll play. we are coming off the bye

Afl Standard HB Line!!

Keen to see how our mids hold up, their centre square looks above this level. Kentfield up forward with other big bodies, will be interesting to see who handles the pack marks best.

No reason to run Lever into the ground in an irrelevant season.

2026 is where the game is at

I'm generally very complimentary to the camera work and commentary at VFL games but this is bad.

Zero funds obviously

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourneโ€™sย performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
