Second best in every aspect of the game.

The ease with which Port are attacking down their right flank is embarrassing.

Petracca a mere shadow of the player he once was. Slow and ineffective.

We have been smashed in marking contests, continually beaten for pace, and lacking any kind of forward craft.

It's just about time to give our youngsters a good run and let Salem and a few other veterans head into the sunset.

I agree. This was always a possibility. That injury has sucked him of his confidence- he is backing out of too many contests. The media is just nice not to call him out for it, but we have to find him a new role.

Well i hope the Board are planning big changes in the off season, because the current Football Department is an absolute shambles and will go nowhere from here.

Big Decisions….

Now they are trying to wipe McVee out for not even making contact with the head and Richards flinging his head back

Cornes: whether he got him in the head of not doesnt matter.

Butters leaves the ball and smacks Kozzie in the head

Cornes: they shouldn't even pay a free kick here let alone a report.

Time to have a real talk about Viney.

Calmly look at all his disposals and rethink his role.

Brown Dog for Vines today. Why is Vines even being asked to play as a tagger with a bung hand when tagging involved scragging and tackling!

Such an amature club.

Unwatchable

Hahahah, Kane Cornes campaigning hard for mcvee to be suspended but thinks butters hitting koz in the head is an accident. What an oxygen thief

I am old enough to remember going to the footy for a decade with nothing to savour but Robbie's freakish skills. Am I going to have another decade watching Kossie (which will be great) but nothing much else?

We certainly have the dumbest players in the comp. They have no idea. It hasn't changed for years. Just kick it in hope plus handball in hope. Every time it gets in our forward line, they take it out so easily and more often results in a goal.

They have foot soldiers, we have Bebop and Rocksteady

ok, been thinking it for a few weeks now, Petracca is mentally broken and has not been the same since his injury. He has never been a hard nut, but he continues skirking contests, he has no confidence in kicking goals this year (50/50 conversion per Fox Footy), indecision on kicking at both field and on the run goals. Awful body language, low confidence and frustrated.

He is certainly a professional athlete , but not sure he is captain material.

Compare Kozi's confidence to Petracca's, they are worlds apart.

Hopefully he can sort it out.

@joeboy

Half time

Bowey - having a shocker

Trac - slow and ineffective

Kozzzzy - worth every dollar

Oliver - so so disappointing

Gawn - just 100% heart

Viney - has lost it

RATUGOLEA - Dees best forward (sorry they kick it to him so much , I thought he plays with us)

BUTTERS - an absolute fuc@$&)w@t

Umps - clearly Ports best

butters should be suspended for his hit on Koz, Maynard levels of thuggery

Real interesting one, if Viney wasn’t holding him, Butters was 100% going to flatten him.

He’s gone the opposite way to the ball directly at him - I can’t be the only one thinking this?

Viney is getting smoked by Butters. Get him off and get Langdon on him. Viney is simply a plodder and cannot go with the more dynamic players of the competition.

Massive coaching blunder.

Well it’s the combination of Viney and Oliver, you can’t play them in the mid together

Viney did a good job on Butters for a quarter but he’s upset the balance of the midfield and now we’ve got one pace lumps playing half forward and no pressure.

Lever still not up to speed and Viney probably running out of puff. We have to stop picking players on name reputation.

Personally didn’t mind giving Disco the go on Georgiades. Hasn’t worked. But McVee on JHF wouldn’t have been great either. As I’ve said for a while, we need a back pocket (and it sure ain’t Howes, he’s awful).

Anyway, had our grand final last week, Port get an 8 day break. This result always likely

That’s touch and go re: McVee. He will likely get 1. I don’t agree with it one bit, but we are MFC and that’s just how things are.

Why does EVERY commentator make light of every injury or perceived injury that happens to our players yet they call for the executioners chair if one of our players does some pissy thing to the opposition.....We cop it left right and centre and barely put up a whimper.....We get treated appallingly by the media and we just sit here and cop it. Drives me absolutely nuts.

We won a flag playing contested crash and bash, bang the ball forward footy, and built a list accordingly. Coming back to bite us.

Death by a thousand turnovers.

Season over if we can’t pull this one back

Reckon the club are going to have to have some really serious discussions about Viney, Trac and Clarry this offseason

We can’t keep carrying so many mids who bang it on the boot and can’t hit targets

Viney is getting on a bit and hasn't played for a while so it's a bit harsh on him.

But your spot on about the disposal. Oliver does all the hard work to get the ball and so often just gives it back.

Tracca just doesn't seem to get the ball today.

Best midfield in the comp to a mediocre one.

It's lost without Kozzie.

And I'll keep saying it, our fwd line was best when Petty was on the bench.

End of the day we are behind because we are incompetent. Lets hope they have had the flu though the club because that's the only thing that's going to save us.

Brereton is a terrible commentator. Claiming Kossie was just brushed by butler's hand, not his shoulder, despite the vision clearly showing otherwise

He's such a nuffie

Kosi stands out like a beacon for a side totally devoid of skills, class and composure.

A collection of guys who try hard but can’t execute under even the slightest of pressure.

It is everything from poorly executed kicks, dumb decision making, dropping sitters and missing set shots. Everything looks clunky, difficult and uninspiring.

We have to make some changes to matchups. Viney cannot go with Butters. And they’ve pushed Trac forward to make way for him in the middle, but he and Oliver don’t work together. Viney should go play forward and stop Port counterattack from half back.

Petty to go to Routagalia to defend him like he’s a forward.

Imagine Kozzie playing in a team like the pies.

Lets see what Goody does.

Imagine if our coach was McRae.

In news to warm the place where my heart used to be, Kozzie back on.

@Demonland 1st half. Marks inside50. Port 10. Dees 2. A season low for a 1st half !!! Terrible kicks inside 50. Terrible battling by forwards. Melksham is being thrashed. Need another tall forward. @georgeontheouter is correct

Fox commentary on the kozzie hit has been a disgrace. Butters clearly clipped his head with his shoulder yet commentators initially said it was friendly fire, then when they saw replay didn't even think it was a free kick. Now Brereton arguing that kozzie wasn't even hit and essentially took a dive despite having a concussion test

We HAVE TO GET RID OF THE COACH…. He’s bloody no good, I’m sick of it, we won the flag in 21 and the last 4 years have been disaster after disaster, Port are [censored] and we’re 24 points behind at half time, if we didn’t have Kozzie we’d be down by 40

Our style of play and failure to convert our fwd 50s has cost us another flag! Yet nothing changes & Goodwin continues to lose games in the same way, at what stage is held accountable??

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
