This, but Viney also in, Laurie out (Sharp sub). Probably JVR in for 2nd ruck duties. If his hands are still made of cement, then straight back to Casey.

Lever is probably one of those players who will never be dropped, but after his 2 return games he really should be. Tmac’s form has been way better than what Rick has offered up in the 2 games (and last 3 years tbh).

If Lever actually got a sustained run at Casey taking gimme intercepts, it might do him the world of good.

Specially with Turner playing at his current level.

Turner can be a very good intercept defender.

He's a decent sub role player.

I think we pulled the wrong rein today with Laurie as sub and Spark as a starter. I thought that before the game too.

That said, Laurie was horrible when he came on.

I’m not sure we can pass judgement fairly on Laurie today.

Agreed, and we never will be able to judge him properly without giving him a proper run in the seniors.

How many people here wanted Chin gone because he was always a sub and struggled to get into the game?! Bedford exactly the same. Both are very good players now.

Being the perennial sub is the hardest job in football if you’re trying to cement a role.

I don’t personally think Laurie will make it, but likewise how would I know from the 15 minutes I’ve seen him play in 24 months?

If you continue to play him as the sub then you’re setting him up to fail.

Out: AJ, Lever, Laurie

In: JVR/Jeffo (whichever one will be more competitive), tmac, viney

sharp gets the green jacket.

If st kilda are cutting us up through the corridor and i believe they kicked 8 goals from deep defensive half transition, i'm not sure how we'll be competitive against collingwood.

He's been horrible in every full game hes played. Folks on here get so blinded by his occasional sum cameos every now and then.

Hes a sub par VFL standard player.

Its totally evident he has a big problem coughing the ball up in traffic. As Buckley would say, he cant solve the small circle. So the instruction must be if you get the ball, use your dash, use run, get into space, break a line. How many times did he find space today. I cant recall many. He is a limited player, but not every player has all the assets, its up to the FD to use the player correctly if you are going to pick him.

I am terrified of what the Pies will do to us on KB. I haven’t been able to watch them play since that terrible violent act by that thug against Gus.

I am in the unfortunate situation being married to a passionate Pies supporter who will expect me to either go to the game with him or watch it together on the TV.

Divorce him, Jane!

Excluding the round 24 game last year where we basically played our Casey side, our last 3 games against the Pies we are:

6.15 to 14.5

7.11 to 9.6

8.18 to 9.8

I can absolutely see a score line like the above happening again. The Pies always force us wide and out pressure us. It will happen again.

We flipped the script against Freo in round 6. Surely we've learnt from previous encounters and try and do whatever we can to get some corridor shots on goal?

I dont think they will bring in Jefferson.

AJ will be out so they will most likely go with JVR as the back up option.

Is there a world where we can play Petty, Jefferson and JVR in the one forward line??

Petty has to be dropped, he is completely ineffective as a big body up forward. For a guy his size to get outbodied again and again is a joke, he is just too soft. Drop him to the VFL.

I thought the same last week but took the word of other posters that he "did a job" on McCartin. Not this week, he was horrible. Had enough of his pea heart efforts, he can go.

AJ suspended. That’s two suspensions in, what, 5 games? I get that aggression is his thing, but if he can’t control it then it’s useless to us, and therefore so is he.

JVR replaces him. I don’t care that Jefferson kicked more goals in the VFL, JVR’s the better prospect and can take AJ’s ruck minutes.

Sharp to be dropped for Viney if fit. If Viney not fit, find someone else to take Sharp’s spot. Give Laurie at least one full game before we drop him (likely for the final time, tbh).

Lever needs to find form pretty soon. We can’t keep TMac in the VFL in the form he was in if Lever isn’t playing just as well.

Maybe best to forfeit the game now so we can complete the loading regime at training and avoid a major injury to one of our marquee players or a long suspension for some minor interaction with a Filth player, like Moore for example.

Should have won all three games

Unacceptable kicking

Jeffo has kicked 10 goals 2 pts in 2 weeks, if he gets separation and a few breaks he does'nt need many possesions to hurt! 18 yesterday but oh sheeit I forgot Goody never rewards Casey Form!

I thought today was an opportunity to give him a full match. Sharp is a sub, not much more.

Chris Fagan isn’t stupid.

Well I'm already dreading next week.

But I'm going to support Neale & I've already bought my beanie to wear.

If Neale can get up gor another year then I guess we don't really have an excuse.

At least I won't be surprised with whatever happens next week

I would really like to see Brown get a run on the starting 22 - no way we can assess him come list time unless we do.

No but we can push premiership defender Petty into the backline and let Lever find fitness and form at Casey. Except Goody will not do that to Lever, like Spargo.

My 6yo son barracks for Collingwood

With his mum

I can forgive him this mortal sin

Because he likes smashing golf balls with me and that’s more important

It continues a recent tradition of recruiting nqr players from other clubs and then being stuck with them,

Billings

Fullarton

Sharp

Hore

Schache

Hunter

and McAdam recently, while other clubs like Cats, Pies and Hawks for example find several who become regulars,

Who have we got since Langdon that has been successful, I can’t recall any?

I’m glad I’m not alone here and someone else feels my pain 😩

Out : Lever, Laurie, AJ (susp)

In : TMac, Viney, JVR

but really - just as long as Lever has spell at Casey

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.
